The document discusses motivating others to reach great destinies and influencing others positively. It describes how Caleb motivated the Israelites to take possession of the promised land, despite other spies spreading fear about its powerful inhabitants. Caleb said they could certainly defeat them with God's help. Similarly, Joshua and Caleb influenced the Israelites to have faith in God and not rebel, saying the land was excellent and God would help them overtake its people. They sought to counter the negative report and encourage the Israelites to believe in God and their destiny instead of being afraid.

THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE CONQUEST OF THE PROMISED LAND IS A PROPHECY OF THE SPIRITUAL CONQUEST OF THE WORLD THROUGH THE CHURCH UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF JESUS THE MESSIAH.
“Without faith it is impossible to please God.” Hebrews 11:6. When we act with faith that goes beyond our abilities and resources, we please God. There will be times when we will face obstacles that appear to be too big for us to handle on our own. Like the Israelites on the edge of the Promised Land, God will give us opportunities to increase our faith by allowing us to participate in His plans. Sadly, the Israelites focused on the obstacles and their abilities rather than on God’s plan. Faith compels to focus on His vision. Faith says, “I believe God will do this… and I’m putting my trust in Him with faith that goes beyond.”
Jesus defined faith that goes beyond the senses, including sight: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29)

40 Days and 40 Nights_Jesus Our Promised LandStephen Palm
At Kadesh Barnea, on the borders of the Promised Land, Israel sends out spies to spy out the land. For 40 days and 40 nights they walked through the land God promised them. They found it to be exactly how God described the Promised Land, a land flowing with milk and honey. Ten of the twelve spies are overwhelmed and completely lacking in faith. They sow fear in the hearts of their fellow Israelites and disbelieve in God’s ability to deal with the giants before them. This unleashes a rash of 40s. God purposes to destroy Israel, but, once again, Moses intercedes for another 40 days and 40 nights. God relents, but there is a consequence. They will not enter the Promised Land for 40 years. Instead, they will wander in the wilderness waiting for the faithless generation to completely die off. It is a restless period in which the younger generation longs for peace and rest. As we enter the New Testament era, we again find God’s people longing for peace and rest. Although they are in the Land of Promise, they are there as servants of Rome. But Jesus, the Prince of Peace, came with a message that God’s Promised Land is more than a place, it’s a relationship with one who is our true Promised Land. He came to give us peace by solving our greatest need… a new heart and a different kind of spirit.

Not unlike the effects of today’s Coronavirus, the older generation of Israel in the wilderness were dying. Numbers 20 begins with the death of Miriam (1) and concludes with the death of Aaron (28, 29). If you were to die today, what legacy would you leave? When was the last time you murmured or complained about something associated with COVID-19? What was your complaint? How did your criticism or complaint change you, your relationship with God and those around you? Why did the Lord send “fiery serpents among the people” (21:6)? What was Moses’ response when he heard their complaints and saw God’s judgment? (7) How should we be like Moses? What was the Lord’s response? (8) Why did Jesus compare Himself to Moses’ brazen serpent? (John 3:14-16) Why do many (sadly most) people refuse to look and live? (8)
Kelly Campbell delivered this energetic and thought-provoking lessons on correcting our spiritual vision. What do we see when we look at events in life? Do we see with eyes that trust in God? If we don't, maybe it's time for a vision check!
What did God tell Joshua to do after conquering the land? (13:1) How much land remained to be possessed? (13:2-6) Who was the land for and what was the first step? (13:7) How does this study apply to contemporary conflicts between the Jews and the Palestinians in Israel? How do your answers to these questions apply to you?
What challenge did the nation of Israel encounter in Joshua 1:1? If you were Joshua how would you have felt? Why do you think God told him, “be strong and of good courage”? How does our definition of success influence or affect our lives? How would you define success? How does the world view success? How did the Lord use the word “success” in Joshua 1:6-9? Name 3 examples of those who are successful in the Bible and 3 who were not. What made the difference in their lives? Name the 3 commands God gave to Joshua in verses 6-9. Which command did he repeat? How many times? Why? Why does it take courage to obey the word of God? These and other questions are addressed in this study in Joshua 1.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
