After being freed from Egypt, the Israelites journeyed through the wilderness toward Mount Sinai. God provided for their needs during this time. When they arrived at Sinai, God gave them laws to follow and instructions for worship. After being counted, they set out for the promised land but lacked faith. Only Joshua and Caleb believed they could take the land as God intended, but the others doubted and faced 38 more years of wandering in the wilderness as punishment before their generation died off.
