Since the United States began using incarceration as its cornerstone of
punishment for those who transgress the law, this method of discipline has been
fraught with problems. One of the most ubiquitous problems found within cor-
rectional institutions are the conditions inmates are forced to live in particularly,
when penal facilities are overcrowded. These conditions have led to extensive
litigation, compelling the judicial system to change. Although overall conditions
have improved, a perpetually increasing inmate population continues to plague
correctional systems as costs continue to rise. As state budgets have become
strained during the economic downturns, many states’ officials view less
punitive measures as possible solutions to the excessive costs of administering
punishment and overcrowded inmate populations. Due to facility overcrowding,
several states have actually been placed under federal court order to reduce their
inmate population in order to protect inmates’ constitutional rights. Although
this has resulted in a change of policies to help alleviate prison overcrowding,
there is little evidence these are anything more than short-term fixes to a
problem with no end in sight.

Introduction
In the United States, like many other affluent nations, law has become the blueprint
by which society is governed. The concept of punishment is typically connected to
or associated with the law, and usually follows as a consequence of non-compliance
with those directives. As such, the means by which a society administers
punishment is often thoroughly scrutinized to insure fairness and efficiency in
obtaining justice. Incarceration has been the dominant form of punishment in
American society for serious crimes (Ross, 2010; Verro, 2010). In fact, some would
argue that incarceration has been overused to such a degree that it constitutes an
inefficient use of resources.
In recent years, many states have become fiscally strained as the practice of
mass incarceration has come under increased criticism (Ekland-Olson, Barrick, &
Cohen, 1983; Harris, 1991; Lucken, 2011; Nagel 1977). As such, many of these
states are beginning to re-evaluate their use of incarceration in an attempt to better

Clinical psychology has had to develop new ways to treat these patients as previous strategies were not as beneficial as they could be. Clinical psychologists also needed to evolve as psychology did so that they have the knowledge and experience to assist patients in these particular situations.

Over the last 50 years there has been a dramatic rise in divorce; the highest it has ever been in the U.S. Divorce affects all types of marriages, whether it a heterosexual couples, blended couples, and even homosexual couples. “This marks a shift away from the ideal of the companion marriage popularized in the early 1920’s to self-aspiration, enhanced freedom, and egalitarian relationships” (Castelloe, 2011). Since the 1960’s the rate of divorce and separation has risen because of the fact that “society has become more inclusive and women more financially independent, resulting in increased tension in marriages between individualization and what psychoanalyst Erik Erickson described as “generativity,” a concern for the welfare of others” (Castelloe, 2011).

Divorce is not exactly privy to one specific culture or ethnicity; many people of all races become separated or divorced. Since 1970, the rate of divorce, at 72%, has declined to 59% (Friedman, n.d.). Jeffrey Drew conducted a study in 2009 on couples who argued about finances. He concluded that couples who argued about finances more than once a week were more than 30% likely to get divorced than couples who argue about it only a few times a month. “According to Drew, couples who disagree about money less than once per month run a 30-40% increase in the risk of divorce” (Divorce Source, 1996). The rate of divorce ultimately increases as the arguments become more often, several times a week, daily; the risk increases 125% to 160% (Divorce Source, 1996). It is believed that children who come from a separated family or divorced family are going to be two times more likely to get divorced than a child whose parents remained together (Castelloe, 2011).

Eater Archetypes:
Brand usage and preferences by consumer segment
The restaurant industry has long relied on demographic factors to
identify and prioritize consumer groups. For example, many
brands currently obsess over attracting Millennials—some
without pausing to consider the variations among consumers
within this demographic cohort. In addition to life stages,
consumer attitudes about health, value, convenience and the
overall role of foodservice in their lives drive significant
differences in preferences and behavior.
With these distinctions in mind, we have updated the Consumer
Brand Metrics (CBM) survey with questions that allow us to
segment consumers into one of seven Eater Archetypes. Each
segment has a distinct psychographic profile, which is outlined in
our recent Consumer Foodservice Landscape. Accordingly, their
patronage of the segments and brands tracked in CBM varies.
This paper explores some differences we can discern after the
initial quarterly results, including the archetypes’ segment usage,
brand patronage and occasion dynamics. Examining CBM data by
Eater Archetype reveals nuances that complement a demographic
profile of a chain’s guests.

In the wake of the global warming era has challenged many countries and they are grappling with the challenge of providing food for their citizens as the effects of climate change are taking a toll on the agricultural sector of the country. Many areas which were once having great potential in producing enough food for both export and local consumption have been reduced to dust. The hunger crises across the globe in many countries especially in the 3rd word country still finds it hard to come up with sustainable programs to provide food for their food deficient citizen. Despite the effort by some of the humanitarian groups, World Food Program in conjunction with other interested donors have stepped up to provide food where necessary. However, this has never been enough as the numbers of people who are in need of this basic need keeps rising prompting researchers and experts in the field of agriculture and other organizations. This also will show that they do not have the finance awareness of adopting other alternative means to ensure agriculture sector sustain itself without necessarily depending on rainfalls which are always seasonal.
In line with the same, I decided to come up with a project to irrigate arable lands which were experiencing shortage in of rainfall leading to reduced agricultural produce and consequently food shortage as the problem of unpredicted rainfall pattern continues (Singh, 2014). My project will basically involve the development of an irrigation scheme which will be charged with producing rice using irrigation water. The schemes central objective would be to ensure that there is enough rice in the country’s warehouses for both export and local consumption.
Project goals
a) Ensure food security is achieved
Through the project more rice will be produced accompanied by the availability of irrigation water. Farmers can be able to practice extensive farming year in year out without having to depend on rainfall to do so (Regulwar & Gurav, 2011). This will allow production of more food to feed the majority of the people who are hunger stricken. In order for this to be achieved it will require a concerted effort of all stakeholders in the sector.
b) Enhance economic growth of a nation
The project will be able to generate more than enough rice which may equal out to forty-five tons annually. Some will be kept to feed the local citizens while the surplus is exported to earn the country foreign exchange and used to develop other sectors of the economy.
c) To promote infrastructural development of the area
With a mega irrigation project in the area, there will be need for good roads to transport .

Since the United States began using incarceration as its cornerstone of
punishment for those who transgress the law, this method of discipline has been
fraught with problems. One of the most ubiquitous problems found within cor-
rectional institutions are the conditions inmates are forced to live in particularly,
when penal facilities are overcrowded. These conditions have led to extensive
litigation, compelling the judicial system to change. Although overall conditions
have improved, a perpetually increasing inmate population continues to plague
correctional systems as costs continue to rise. As state budgets have become
strained during the economic downturns, many states’ officials view less
punitive measures as possible solutions to the excessive costs of administering
punishment and overcrowded inmate populations. Due to facility overcrowding,
several states have actually been placed under federal court order to reduce their
inmate population in order to protect inmates’ constitutional rights. Although
this has resulted in a change of policies to help alleviate prison overcrowding,
there is little evidence these are anything more than short-term fixes to a
problem with no end in sight.

Introduction
In the United States, like many other affluent nations, law has become the blueprint
by which society is governed. The concept of punishment is typically connected to
or associated with the law, and usually follows as a consequence of non-compliance
with those directives. As such, the means by which a society administers
punishment is often thoroughly scrutinized to insure fairness and efficiency in
obtaining justice. Incarceration has been the dominant form of punishment in
American society for serious crimes (Ross, 2010; Verro, 2010). In fact, some would
argue that incarceration has been overused to such a degree that it constitutes an
inefficient use of resources.
In recent years, many states have become fiscally strained as the practice of
mass incarceration has come under increased criticism (Ekland-Olson, Barrick, &
Cohen, 1983; Harris, 1991; Lucken, 2011; Nagel 1977). As such, many of these
states are beginning to re-evaluate their use of incarceration in an attempt to better

Over the last 50 years there has been a dramatic rise in divorce; the highest it has ever been in the U.S. Divorce affects all types of marriages, whether it a heterosexual couples, blended couples, and even homosexual couples. “This marks a shift away from the ideal of the companion marriage popularized in the early 1920’s to self-aspiration, enhanced freedom, and egalitarian relationships” (Castelloe, 2011). Since the 1960’s the rate of divorce and separation has risen because of the fact that “society has become more inclusive and women more financially independent, resulting in increased tension in marriages between individualization and what psychoanalyst Erik Erickson described as “generativity,” a concern for the welfare of others” (Castelloe, 2011).

Divorce is not exactly privy to one specific culture or ethnicity; many people of all races become separated or divorced. Since 1970, the rate of divorce, at 72%, has declined to 59% (Friedman, n.d.). Jeffrey Drew conducted a study in 2009 on couples who argued about finances. He concluded that couples who argued about finances more than once a week were more than 30% likely to get divorced than couples who argue about it only a few times a month. “According to Drew, couples who disagree about money less than once per month run a 30-40% increase in the risk of divorce” (Divorce Source, 1996). The rate of divorce ultimately increases as the arguments become more often, several times a week, daily; the risk increases 125% to 160% (Divorce Source, 1996). It is believed that children who come from a separated family or divorced family are going to be two times more likely to get divorced than a child whose parents remained together (Castelloe, 2011).

How This Online Course Works
This course is being offered in a fully online format. This means that all of your course activities will

Eater Archetypes:
Brand usage and preferences by consumer segment
The restaurant industry has long relied on demographic factors to
identify and prioritize consumer groups. For example, many
brands currently obsess over attracting Millennials—some
without pausing to consider the variations among consumers
within this demographic cohort. In addition to life stages,
consumer attitudes about health, value, convenience and the
overall role of foodservice in their lives drive significant
differences in preferences and behavior.
With these distinctions in mind, we have updated the Consumer
Brand Metrics (CBM) survey with questions that allow us to
segment consumers into one of seven Eater Archetypes. Each
segment has a distinct psychographic profile, which is outlined in
our recent Consumer Foodservice Landscape. Accordingly, their
patronage of the segments and brands tracked in CBM varies.
This paper explores some differences we can discern after the
initial quarterly results, including the archetypes’ segment usage,
brand patronage and occasion dynamics. Examining CBM data by
Eater Archetype reveals nuances that complement a demographic
profile of a chain’s guests.

In the wake of the global warming era has challenged many countries and they are grappling with the challenge of providing food for their citizens as the effects of climate change are taking a toll on the agricultural sector of the country. Many areas which were once having great potential in producing enough food for both export and local consumption have been reduced to dust. The hunger crises across the globe in many countries especially in the 3rd word country still finds it hard to come up with sustainable programs to provide food for their food deficient citizen. Despite the effort by some of the humanitarian groups, World Food Program in conjunction with other interested donors have stepped up to provide food where necessary. However, this has never been enough as the numbers of people who are in need of this basic need keeps rising prompting researchers and experts in the field of agriculture and other organizations. This also will show that they do not have the finance awareness of adopting other alternative means to ensure agriculture sector sustain itself without necessarily depending on rainfalls which are always seasonal.
In line with the same, I decided to come up with a project to irrigate arable lands which were experiencing shortage in of rainfall leading to reduced agricultural produce and consequently food shortage as the problem of unpredicted rainfall pattern continues (Singh, 2014). My project will basically involve the development of an irrigation scheme which will be charged with producing rice using irrigation water. The schemes central objective would be to ensure that there is enough rice in the country’s warehouses for both export and local consumption.

a) Ensure food security is achieved
Through the project more rice will be produced accompanied by the availability of irrigation water. Farmers can be able to practice extensive farming year in year out without having to depend on rainfall to do so (Regulwar & Gurav, 2011). This will allow production of more food to feed the majority of the people who are hunger stricken. In order for this to be achieved it will require a concerted effort of all stakeholders in the sector.
b) Enhance economic growth of a nation
The project will be able to generate more than enough rice which may equal out to forty-five tons annually. Some will be kept to feed the local citizens while the surplus is exported to earn the country foreign exchange and used to develop other sectors of the economy.
c) To promote infrastructural development of the area
With a mega irrigation project in the area, there will be need for good roads to transport .

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
