User Experience is Included at Every Level
User Experience is included at every level of business. This can be seen in the culture of a company. Through the content, products and services that the employees create, the company engages with its consumers. User experience is integrated into every touchpoint of a company's infrastructure when people engage with a brand. Learn why it's important to have a Generalist on the team to oversee the User Experience for a company at every level of its processes, including: hiring, design, development, advertising and marketing.

Defeating Babel: 4 Strategies for Better Design Communication in AgileJim Carlsen-Landy
User experience can make or break new products, and revitalize or kill existing products. Having skilled designers and developers is a start, but they don't naturally speak the same language, which can impede your team's value delivery. Using examples from research and industry, as well as experiences from my own and others’ work with Agile teams, this session delivers strategies and specific techniques that designers, developers, and product owners can apply to build more powerful design communication across disciplines.
This presentation is organized around four proven strategies:
- Drive priority discussions around value
- Speak a shared language of Agile development
- Show possibilities, don’t debate principles
- Tailor artifacts to meet your teams’ needs

Informed consent is a basic requirement for accessing any digital service which gathers personal data. However, the way people are requested to give consent often exposes them to the extensive collection of their personal information which, in turn, poses threats for personal freedom. This calls for new approaches to design more effective consent experiences.
The proposed workshop is conceived as hands-on UX brainstorm which employs tools derived from the field of service design to generate new consent solutions. Attendees will learn how to use simple design tools to improve the experience of managing consent and privacy online. New insights on how to design for consent will be generated throughout the workshop activity by reflecting together upon the outcomes.

SUMMARY
“Our job, says Amazon CEO Bezos, is to invent new options that nobody’s ever thought of before and see if customers like them.”
The World’s Most Innovative Company - Fast Company March 2017
Deloitte and Touche found that customer-centric companies were 60% more profitable compared to companies that were not focused on the customer. Having a strong company wide customer focus is more important than being agile alone to create high-performance design. Learn how to keep the customers needs, emotions and behavioral actions at the center of every design to generate the most value. Harvesting insights from feedback and driving them back into the customer experience with speed at scale makes a company innovative and agile.
Understanding the mindset driving this way of working is the key to creating high-performance design. Embodying this mindset will give you the power to create a customer-centric culture where you are free to rapidly test and ship your most innovative ideas daily, ultimately delivering more value to your customers sooner.
AT THE END OF THIS WORKSHOP, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO
Describe a customer-centric design process.
Outline and identify your customer feedback learning loop at every step of the design and product development process to drive continuous innovation, optimization and value.
Explain and embody the mindset that drives the culture, team, process, tools and technology choices required to build this customer-centric future.

Text Chat Focus Groups: The Most Effective Qualitative Method:
Sure, text chat has been around for a while. And in an industry
that is obsessed with the newest and shiniest tools on the
market, often the best ones get overlooked.
Unlike the travel required for in-person work or the technical
requirements involved in webcam focus groups, text chat
lowers the bar of entry for both researcher and participant
and speeds up the research process. In short, it is the fastest
and most effective way to gather qualitative insights.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
