our language

When we talk
about verbs,
nouns, articles,
adjectives,
pronouns, etc.,
we are talking about
GRAMMAR

To talk about the things around us, we need NOUNS
A noun is a
person, place
or thing.
Definition
Examples & categories
Person: Jon, teacher, mother
Place: Sydney, Hamble, Everest, New Forest
Thing: objects, animals, plants, feelings etc.

Explanation
In most European languages gender
affects not only male and female (people and
animals), but also all the other nouns.
A concrete noun like chair could be feminine.
An abstract noun like love could be masculine.
REASON ? Many.
Tradition.
Ancient languages.
Heritage.
Influences from other languages.
Pure chance.

They need to be NOUNS.
How will you know if they are masculine or feminine?
Write them in your neat book in both languages.
EXAMPLE: the cat = il gatto (masculine)
