The rondalla is a group of stringed instruments introduced to the Philippines by Spaniards in the 1800s, originating from medieval Spain. It includes various instruments such as bandurria, laud, guitar, octavina, and bajo de uñas, each contributing to the performing music through melody and rhythm. Besides traditional folk songs, the rondalla ensemble also plays contemporary and classical music, enriched by the addition of percussion instruments like drums and cymbals.
