General ideas usually express
the main point or main idea of a
piece of writing. They present the
topic of a paragraph, essay, or book
and make a statement about it,
usually a claim that needs to be
proven. Specific ideas provide
evidence to further define the
general or main idea and prove that
it is valid.

Topic sentences of paragraphs are general statements that
must be proven in the body of a paragraph.
Supporting sentences are information for a topic
sentence which is of a much more specific nature.
Concluding Sentences sum up the information that is
presented in a paragraph..
Parts of a paragraph
General Statements - are
usually the topic sentence or
the main idea of the
paragraph.
Specific statements are
supporting information for the
topic sentence or main idea. They
usually clarify, explain, and illustrate
general ideas and statements by
referring to particular individuals,
ideas, or things. They also tend to
express distinct characteristics that
define those individuals, ideas, and
things.
Topic sentences of paragraphs are general
statements that must be proven in the body of a
paragraph.
Example: On Labor Day in 1963, Mario Andretti
won seven midget races at three in the afternoon
at Flemington, New Jersey, and four at night in
Hatfield, Pennsylvania.

Kinds of triangles according to sides and angles
Triangles are classified by the measure of their angles and by the number of sides they have that
are congruent. When classified according to angle measures, a triangle may be acute, right, or obtuse.
When classified according to the number of equal sides, a triangle may be scalene, isosceles, or equilateral.
According to sides
a. Isosceles Triangle – is a triangle with two equal sides.
b. Equilateral Triangle - is a triangle with three equal sides.
c. Scalene Triangle - is a triangle with no equal sides and angles.
According to angles
A. Right Triangle – is a triangle with one right angle.
B. Acute Triangle - is a triangle with three acute angles.
C. Obtuse Triangle - is a triangle with one obtuse angle.

QUADRILATERALS
Quadrilaterals are polygons with four sides. Quadrilaterals have
special names.
When a quadrilateral has exactly
one pair of parallel sides,
it is a trapezoid .
When a quadrilateral has two pairs of parallel sides, it is called a
parallelogram.
The parallel sides are also congruent. A parallelogram that has four
congruent sides is a rhombus.
A parallelogram whose sides form four right angles is a rectangle.
Adjacent sides in a rectangle are perpendicular.
A parallelogram that has four congruent sides and four right angles is a
square. Adjacent sides in a square are perpendicular.

Topic sentences of paragraphs are general statements that must be proven in the body of a paragraph. Example: On Labor Day in 1963, Mario Andretti won seven midget races at three in the afternoon at Flemington, New Jersey, and four at night in Hatfield, Pennsylvania.
