An existing single-storey weatherboard cottage in Middle Park was successfully extended and renovated into a modern two-storey residence. This was achieved despite heritage overlay restrictions, its corner location, and objections from adjoining owners. The design incorporated the heritage overlay rules while meeting the clients' needs for increased living and bedroom space. Planning approval from the City of Port Phillip was confirmed at VCAT, where the objections of the adjoining owner were dismissed within five days of the hearing. The renovation was completed in October 2014.
