The Gothenburg Centre for Person-Centred Care (GPCC) is an interdisciplinary research centre in Gothenburg, Sweden with around 100 researchers working on 30 projects related to long-term illness. Established in 2010, it is funded for 5 years with 90 million Swedish krona (£9 million) from the Swedish government. Led by Director Professor Inger Ekman, the GPCC studies person-centred care which treats patients as equal partners in their care. Studies have found person-centred care reduced hospital stays and costs for conditions like heart failure and hip fractures.
