Karen Loya is majoring in Business Administration. She wants to be more politically active and vote to enact change. She would like to change how information is received to get the full truth more quickly. She wants to keep the separation of powers in the government to prevent any one part from becoming too powerful. She is interested in learning more about executive orders and gun control regulations. She believes the 9th Amendment, which protects unenumerated rights, is very important. Going forward, she wants to focus on voting and becoming more informed to influence others.

2. what motivates me to become an active participant?
Voting-Wanting to be the change; although sometimes it feels as if one vote
doesn’t matter it can be part of the change.
Things I would like to change – I would like to change the way we receive
information. I don’t believe we always get the truth or the whole truth until
it is revealed by other sources.
Things I would like to stay the same – I like the separation of powers; It does not
allow any part of the government to be overpowered which would cause us an
unstable government

to see how each
age range voting
turnouts are.
• I would like to
learn more about
executive orders
each President has
passed. It is
important to know
what the President
will decide and
enforce.

4. Gun control
• I do not believe guns are a problem when they are in the right hands.
Although I do believe that if more regulations or requirements are not
put in place soon it will be something that will affect our future
generations for worse.
• Why? Because so many shootings could’ve been avoided keeping our
communities and children especially safe because, guns are being
placed in the wrong hands.

5. Which Amendment is most important?
• I believe the 9th Amendment is very important because, it
states that all the rights not listed on the constitution belong
to the people, not the government. Meaning the rights are
not limited to just the rights listed.

6. What will I carry on with me?
• Most important – voting & voting turnout – as being someone that is
part of the lowest voting turnout age group I want to be more
informed and cast my opinion and voice. I want to be able to
influence those around me to do the same.
• Another thing I will carry on is that knowledge is power and better
informed we are the better we will be doing for our politics and
future generations.
