❏ What is gossip?
❏ Gossip can be defined as information passed between two
individuals, A and B, about a third individual
❏ Gossip has also been identified as an evolutionary biologist, as
aiding social bonding in large groups
❏ It emphasizes small talk or idle talk, typically focusing on
someone else’s private or intimate relations.
❏ In research, gossip is limited, but available data suggest that
women may have a greater affinity for gossip than do men

treatments
● 1st studying effect of being the target of sarcasm, 2nd
analyzing the effect of partaking in sarcasm.
○ 1st treatment- subject will be target of sarcasm
by researchers
○ 2nd treatment- subject will be encouraged to
engage in sarcasm with one of the researches
● Levels of trust will be measured in a survey both
before and after the treatment
