1. The Stalin State Museum in Gori tells the story of Joseph Stalin, who was born in the town. The museum is housed in Stalin's birthplace and includes his personal items, photographs, and documents. 2. Gori has a medieval citadel dating back to the 13th century that controlled important trade and military routes. The fortress changed hands between Ottoman Turkey, Georgia, and Persia over the centuries. It was renovated in the 17th and 18th centuries under Georgian kings. 3. In addition to the Stalin museum and citadel, Gori has several churches and other sites of interest for visitors to explore in the city.

2. We live in Gori. We decided to
tell about our city.

3. There are lots of places to visit.
Stalin State Museum is situated in Gori, in the town where
Stalin was born. The complex of the hhe museum was
opened in 1957. In ouse, where Stalin was born, the
memorial museum was opened in 1937 ,during Stalin’s life-
time.
A two-storeyed building with a tower was built by the project
of Georgian architect Archil Kurdiani. The building is faced
with Eclar stone. Billars decorated with ornaments and the
vestibule revetted with red marble are very impressive.
The complex of the museum includes the memorial house,
Stalin’s carriage and the two-storeyed exhibition building. In
front of the building Stalin statue is situated (sculptor
Silovan Kakabadze).
Unique displays: memorial things, presents, canvases,
photo- and film documents are gathered in the museum.

5. The castle of Gori
The castle of Gori is a medieval citadel in Georgia,
standing above the city of Gori on a rocky hill.
The fortress first appears in the 13th century
records but archaeological evidence shows that the
area had already been fortified in the last centuries
BC. The fortress controlled major strategic and
economic routes and accommodated a large
garrison. In the 16th century
the Ottomans captured it to overawe Tbilisi, and
then it continually changed hands between the
Turks, the Georgians, and the Persians. The citadel
acquired the present-day form under the Georgian
kings Rostom of Kartli in the 1630s and Erekle II in
1774. After the Russian annexation of Georgia in
1801, the fortress was garrisoned by a Russian
grenadier battalion, but its importance gradually
declined and the fortifications went defunct.
