The History Of Prehistory And History
According to the British historian E.H. Carr, The line of demarcation between prehistoric and
historical times crossed when people cease to live only in the present, and become consciously
interested both in their past and in their future. History begins with the handing down of tradition .
So prehistoryis the event that happened during the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. During the
prehistoric era, a number of inventions and discoveries arise. Therefore, during the Iron Age, the
prehistorygradually ended. After this era, everything that happened during prehistory is now
considered to be a history. Therefore, in order to preserve prehistory, it will be recorded as a
history. So now, the history contains the archeological materials and fossils that existed during
prehistoric era.
Both prehistory and history have a stringline difference because they are somehow alike in their
purpose and significance to the society. Prehistory that later became a history provides us with
details of how people lived to survive during those early ages when there is no technological

d. How will the society and the nation as a whole (i.e., the Philippines) benefit from the researches
and studies in history?
What is the significance of historical studies to the creation of the nation and the strengthening of
the cultural, social, and moral fiber of society?
As what Jocano said, All artifacts were made by and for people . That is why; these historical
studies give us an idea of the motives, values and behavior of group life. These values and motives
will also serve as the basis in the present and future generations why we somehow share the same
culture and tradition. We can also be informed that this learning from historical studies is a factor
that shaped our cultural

The Prentice Hall Self Assessment
Part I of the Prentice Hall Self Assessment provided me with some interesting information about
my personality, some of which was known and some that was new to me. The test covering my
basic personality provided me with what I would consider known information. My scores were
spot on for the Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Emotional stability, but
what really surprised me was my score for openness to experience. In this category I scored a 7
which makes me a moderate low in that area which I find to be the perfect score as I often have
a tendency to lean towards those things that I am most familiar with, but I also have small
interest in the unfamiliar and am slightly open to exploring new ways of doing things. My
Jungian Personality has and always be an ISTJ due to my need for privacy and structure in my
everyday life. Kroeger, Thuesen and Rutledge (2007) affirms this as they state an ISTJ s day to
day living is driven by structure, schedule, and order, and their Introversion makes them appear
somewhat cool and aloof (p. 306). For the Type A personality I scored a 111 which equates to
having an A personality. This is about 95% accurate as I am constantly striving to achieve more
out of life and at times I can be difficult to get along with due to my drive to succeed. The things
noted in the study that would set me apart from those considered to be hardcore Type A persons
would be that I am not always moving at a fast pace in all that I do and

Augustine s Confessions Essays
Augustine s Confessions The content of my paper will be an analysis of Augustine s
Confessions. I will focus on the first nine chapters of the book. First, I will write an introductory
page about Augustine. Second, I will explain why Augustine wrote the Confessions and the
importance of the Confessions as a philosophical work. I will analyze Augustine s view of God
and show the main theme of his book, which is, the sovereign God of grace and the sovereign
grace of God. I will focus on Augustine s view of God and His grace. Augustine was born
Aurelius Augustinus on November 13, 354 in North Africa. He received a classical Latin education
and went to study rhetoric at the age of twelve in Madaura. He later studied at Cathrage... Show

The Confessions is divided into thirteen books. I will focus my analysis on the first ten books,
which are his autobiography. The other three books are important but they do not have to do
with his life story. The book expresses three main concerns. One is Augustine s frank and
detailed acknowledgment of his personal sinfulness and the power he came to recognize as God
s provident grace protective, creative, salvific in every moment of his life. He also wrote in
order to confess his own Christian faith and clearly repudiate any supposed lingering connections
on his part with Manichaeism. Finally, The Confessions are a heartfelt paean of praise and
thanksgiving in honor of God s glory. Augustine begins his autobiography with a prayer and
meditation. This is fitting because the main theme of The Confessions is to praise and thank
God. He begins by saying that God has, made us and drawn us to yourself, and our heart is
unquiet until it rests in you. This is a very good point because it is a reflection of Augustine s
struggle to find piece with himself. Throughout the rest of the book Augustine is constantly
changing his beliefs and looking for the truth, his heart is restless. And it is not until he finds the
Catholic faith and has his conversion that he finds piece. Augustine like all philosophers is a lover
of truth. He is unsure how he should call upon the Lord (3). He points out that it is his faith,

Chemistry Coursework В– Rates of Reaction Investigation
Introduction
In this investigation I am going to be investigating the reaction between marble chips and
hydrochloric acid, and to see what differences in the rate of this reaction arise when different
concentrations of acid are used. Below is the word equation for this reaction:
Calcium Carbonate + Hydrochloric Acid = Calcium Chloride + Carbon Dioxide + Water Below is
the fully balanced chemical equation for this reaction.
CaCo3 + HCl #61664; CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O
Aim
The aim of this investigation is to find out whether the concentration of the acid affects the rate of
reaction between the acid and marble chips.

A Comparison of the Founding Documents for the United States of America
Liberty University
A Comparison of the Founding Documents for the United States of America This document will
provide a brief comparison and synopsis of some of the most important writings of our time: The
Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson s letter to the Danbury Baptists, and the U.S.
Constitution. Also, this will be an analysis of what I believe the signers of the Declaration of
Independence and the U.S. Constitution thought about the separation of church and state, as well as
God from government. The Declaration of Independence was written on July 4, 1776 by Thomas
Jefferson. Its purpose was to officially separate the colonies from Great Britain ... Show more

I tried defining specific things in the Constitution such as secure blessings of liberty (Delegates,
2015). Secure can mean to make something stay where it is; to stay put. A blessing is
something that can be good provided by a higher being (God) and liberty means freedom.
Therefore secure blessings of liberty means to make sure the good things we have (blessings)
because of a higher being (God) and our freedom stays put and or not taken away from us. With
the above synopsis of the three important documents, I can now really compare them all. The
Declaration is a statement to declare freedom and separate from Great Britain, listing all the
horrible things the king did for the colonies reason to become independent, while the U.S.
Constitution was written after, to be more specific to the government and how that should be run.
The Declaration was more of a broad, almost philosphical view of what the US should be. The
Constitution lays out the new government stating there will be a Congress, President, and a
Supreme Court. It further details the powers of each branch and how each should be run. The
Constitution was written by respresentatives of all the states; however the Declaration was written
by Jefferson and revised by the delegates of the 13 colonies. The letter Jefferson wrote to the
Danburry Baptists sparked a debate about the separation between church and state and what that
really means. There have been many interpretations of that over the

How To Use Technical Errors In The Film Listen To Your Heart
The film Listen to your Heart, directed by Matt Thompson, is a romantic drama about a lowly
songwriter and a vibrant deaf girl. The film follows the pair through their relationship, showing
that is it is possible to have a relationship between the hearing and deaf. It also claims that because
they love each other, they will do anything for the other. This type of filmis extremely rare because
of the high quality of filming and use of a non speaking man character. However, this film is not
really looked upon by the deaf community as a good deaf film. There are many technical
mistakes made about deaf people making this film just a feel good movie, but nothing more. The
movie Listen to your Heart is about a deaf college girl and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The day the couple meet, Danny gives Arianna his phone number, and spends weeks waiting for
a call. Finally, she shows up again at the restaurant claiming that she could not call because she
is deaf. Yes, she physically can not talk on the phone however, there are several different ways to
overcome this, one is to text, this movie is set in modern times where texting is available. She
could have used a TTY (Text Telephone) machine or a Video Relaying Service. Another problem
that has developed was when Arianna has received a letter to have the Cochlear Implant done
(CI). She never had a consultation by a doctor or examination to see she was eligible for the CI.
The implants do not work for everyone, however, Arianna goes ahead and has the surgery. Even
though it is possible for a CI to work for an Adult it is a rare case, because implants are typical
done for children. However, the biggest storyline mistake is Arianna had the surgery and was
able to hear music that Danny had written. This is completely impossible, it takes one to two
weeks after surgery, [a] doctor will fit [a person] with three parts: a speech processor, a battery
pack, and a transmitter. You wear the microphone, which looks like a hearing aid, behind [the] ear

discomfort, and she understands English without ever hearing it

People Must Be Their Own Individual Person
In today s society, people believe that they need to conform to other s ideas and ways.
Conforming to others takes away from being an individual. People need to be themselves and not
like someone else just because society says so. Fitting in with people is not always what it seems
to be. Just because everyone is doing it does not mean it is right. People should be who they wantto
be, not who they think they needto be. Everyone should be their own individual person. Society
today is full of people who want to fit in with the so called popular people. Everyone thinks that
the group is popular, so they must have great ideas and thoughts. They might have some great
ideas, but they might not be everyone s ideas. People should not have to change who they are or
what they think just to fit in with people. Just because the popular group seems to be the group
to be in, does not mean that is all that is out there. If everyone stays an individual, there is bound
to be people who have similar ideas. Do not conform to what others say or do just to fit in.
Everyone s thoughts matter even if there is some doubt they do not. Following society puts people
in the so called perfect box. The more people think like others than themselves, the more they
become immune to being an individual. Society has a hold on people that may not be noticed.
Everyone has an ideaof the perfect person, which comes from society. There are some instances
where everyone has conformed to this one idea because

New Zealand s National Parties
New Zealand s National parties social housing policy, 2014 is a very significant policy as it
intends to put a roof over people who are in need and also intends to better the health and
wellbeing of citizens and communities in Aotearoa. They do this by assisting them in getting a
home where they can gain some sort of sustainability in their daily lives. The social housing policy
has been round for a numerous amount of years and has changed over time with different political
parties being part of it. National is a neoliberal party but also a social democratic. Since National
has come into government. There has been a significant amount of change which has had negative
and positive effects on citizens and communities in Aotearoa and the factors contributing to the
impacts of this policy are social, economic and environmental impacts.
Social factors contributing to this policy are that National has made it possible for registered
community housing providers to access the same income related housing subsides as housing New
Zealand which is another social housing company, which means tenants who need social housing
will be able to access discounted rents (Hamilton, 2014). This will have a positive impact on
citizens in Aotearoa who need housing assistance as it will be more affordable for people on a
low income to be able to pay rent. Another social impact is that in the next three years National
intends to support 3000 more New Zealand families in gaining the housing support

An Ideal Weight Of The Body Mass Index
There are many people struggling to keep their weight ideal. An ideal weight according to the
medical definition is the weight that provides an individual with lowest health risks (Wicks,
2016). There are many different ways to figure out if an individual is considered to have ideal
weight; one of which is by measuring the body mass index, also known as BMI (Wicks, 2016).
BMI can be measured by weight in kilogram divided by height in meters squared. Ideal weight is
above 18.5 and below 24.5, anything below 18.5 is consider underweight and above 24.5 is
considered overweight (Wicks, 2016). Although BMI can be easily calculated, it does have some
concerns regarding the fact that it does not take into consideration body composition and
distribution (Wicks, 2016). To reach their ideal healthy weight some individuals turn to changing
their diet while others seem to turn to exercising. Those who turn to changing their diet take
kilocalories into consideration. Kilocalories is the unit used for measurement of energy, and to
determine one s weight, energy balance equation is used; this equation is energy input minus
energy output equals either positive or negative energy (Wicks, 2016). People who are overweight
consider these kilocalories in everything they eat and drink. Although there is more than one way to
achieve a healthy weight, exercising seems to be more beneficial for various reasons. Dieting
consists of changing and considering the nutritionvalue in every food item

minds while engulfing ourselves in stories we wished knew no ending. This overlooked literature
superhero is syntax. Karin de Weille goes unto detail on just how important syntax is in her article
How Syntax Moves Us . Through examples such as The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Gilman,
Weille is able to put together interesting details on how syntax is like a dance for our minds. In
Weille s article we learn syntax is much more than sentence structures and abstract thinking. Syntax

Winesburg Character Analysis
Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson; is a collection of short stories reproducing the town of
many grotesques . Anderson defines the term grotesque as being a person that took one of the
truths to himself, call it his own truth, and tried to live his life by it (Anderson, 3). In the book,
each story is about a grotesquecharacter, including Wash Williams in the story Respectability .
Williams is the worst grotesque in the book. Specifically, the worst grotesque is a person who has
become obsessed with an idea or feelingand cannot accepta different opinion. Wash Williams is the
worst grotesque, because from what happened to him, his feelings towards change. He became
violent, he forces his opinions on others, and it seems to be unable to change his beliefs.
In Respectability , Wash Williams is an ugly, miserable man with no friends. Anderson describes
him as a huge ugly kind of ugly monkey, a creature with ugly sagging hairless skin below his
eyes, and a bright purple underbody. (Anderson, 68).Williams was the best operator in Ohio, but
after what happened to him, he got demoted to his state. Williams hated the people of the small
town, especially women. His obsession with hating women; took over his passion for work. He
viewed all women as Bitches because of his failed marriage, his feeling for men were different; he
pitied them. Does not every man let his life be managed for him by some bitch or another?

Importance Of Voting A Right To Vote
A blazing sun beats down on a desolate parking lot. A man with a clipboard desperately searches
for signatures, begging for his rights to be returned. This man is a felon, and his right to vote has
been taken away. Approximately 5.85 million Americans can t vote due to a felony charge (Newsy).
Although it can be argued that felons have lost their privilege to vote, felon disenfranchisement has
affected and still affects a disproportionate amount of people of color, takes out a huge voter block,
and inhibits the rehabilitation process. Therefore, community members should sign petitions or
contact senators to help felons regain their rights.
Some sources believe felons should not be given the right to vote after having committed a felony,
because voting is a privilege. Once people commit a felony, they lose this privilege. They also
believe that since felons have committed a crime, they do not have the ability to make judgements
in elections. If they made the judgement to commit a crime, they do not have the right mindset to
make a judgement in an election.
These sources believe that voting is a privilege, but voting is a right guaranteed to the American
people. Felons, despite their past crimes, are still American citizens and they don t deserve to have
their right taken away. Furthermore, the idea that felons are incapable of making judgements in
politics because of their crimes is absurd. The whole point of their imprisonment is to rehabilitate
them into society and put

Analysis of Biff in Death of a Salesman Essay
Camilla Tanzi
Year 12
An analysis of the character of Biff.
Biff Loman is portrayed as the root of Willy s mental illness and instability. He is also the only
member of his family who acknowledges his own failures in life. On the whole, Biff Loman stands
out as the most intriguing and strong character in Death of a Salesman. He is not a successful man
and never will be, he is however able to admit this, even in a harsh society as the one of the 1960s
America. Biff knows he is a nothing and tries to make his father see that he is no good. I am a dime

The author could possibly be implying that Willy is actually envious of Bernard and even
though he doesn t want to admit it, his is just jealousy when he shows aversion towards him.
Willy has different ambitions for his sons futures than most people had for theirs at the time; he
believes that sport will be enough to help Biff succeed in the business world, make him rich and
notorious; That s just what I mean, Bernard can get the best marks in school, y understand, but
when he gets out in the business world, y understand, you re going to be five times ahead of him.
Arthur Miller provides us with a lot of evidence that Willy has been a bad influence on Biff.
While Biff is in some ways desperate to impress his father, he is also conscious about the fact
that Willy has failed his attempt to be successful in his career. He considers his dad s dreams
materialistic and unreachable. As a matter of fact, in the Requiem, even after his father s death,
Biff says: He had the wrong dreams. All, all wrong. Unlike Happy and Willy, Biff is self aware
and values facts; Willy never was a successful salesman and he never wanted to face the truth. On
the other hand, Biff is conscious about his failures and the weaknesses of his personality. During an
argument with his father, Biff admits that his dad made him so arrogant as a boy that now he just

Logan And Cultural Imperialism
The film, Logan is laced with a couple of the course concepts which are powerlessness, othering,
cultural imperialism, marginalization, and lastly violence. Regardless, the two concepts discussed
in class which impacted the most while analyzing the film are violence and cultural imperialism.
Certainly, violence stood out like an oasis in a barren desert when Wolverines hand is covered in
blood and shaking at the beginning. Cultural imperialism is a key concept when Dr. Xander and
Pierce are together getting out of the helicopter. Which means they are human and are working
together to destroy all mutants.

Nursing Leadership Philosophy Paper
My nursing leadership philosophy is based on transformational leadership to which I ascribe.
Transformational nurse leaders have a vested interest in the success of those they lead and their
organization s vision. They are visionaries in the pursuit of cutting edge ways of completing the
tasks and goals of the team and organization. They are able to inspire, encourage, open to
mentorship, see the potential in those they lead while challenging them, and knowing their
strengths and weaknesses. I am cognizant of my own limitations, strengths and weaknesses,
acknowledge my mistakes and open to change. There is an innate desire to continue growing in my

The Realism Theory Of The War On Afghanistan
There are, however, aspects that disqualify the realism theory in examining the War in Afghanistan.
For example, realism explicitly applies to relations between nations and consequently, war between
countries. This was not the case, since the war did and still does not involve conflict between
America and Afghanistan. Rather the war was between America and the Taliban
government that
supported the infamous terror group, al Qaeda. For this reason, realist theory does not explain this
highly controversial war. Another aspect that contravenes realism as an appropriate theoretical
approach to understanding the War in Afghanistan is that fact that, America toppled the Taliban
government within its first few months of the invasion. Realism cannot, as a result, explain why
American troops and those of allied forces have not yet been pulled out of Afghanistan more than a
decade after war started (Bird and Marshall 37).
Another principal attribute that disqualifies realism in debunking the Afghanistan War is the fact
that America made concerted efforts to gain support from the United Nations (UN) before
commencing the invasion. This contravenes the assertion put forth by the realist theory that, a
nation does not take the international system or organization into consideration when taking
actions directed towards safeguarding its survival. The autonomous action stipulated in realism is
particularly essential when a state is threatened and cannot afford to trust other nations. In

Natural Sugar Vs. Artificial Sweeteners
Natural Sugar vs. Artificial Sweeteners by Kimberly Reynolds
The debate between naturally derived sugars and low calorie artificial sweeteners has been going
on for years now. As our population s obesity rate grows every year and health concerns related to
weight control grows along with it, natural sugar is scrutinized and we are told to keep away from it
as it is our enemy. Over the last couple of decades, we have been introduced to more and more
varieties of artificial sweeteners promising to deliver the same sweetness or even more sweetness
than natural sugar (some offer as much as 200 times more sweetness than sugar) but with a much
lower calorie content, or some even no calories at all. Artificial sweeteners such as Splenda, Sweet
n Low, NutraSweet, and Equal have become popular as better alternatives to table sugar, promising
to help battle weight gain and actually assist in losing weight. However, does this make it the
healthier option? As with all things, both natural sugar and artificial sugar have their pros and cons,
but in order to find the best option in regards to our health and futures, it s important to weigh them
according to scientific findings and research.
As we hear of more studies exclaiming alarming findings of negative health concerns related to
obesity and our continuously growing percentage of obesity in our country, particularly childhood
obesity, sugar is in the spotlight. We often hear of dieticians and weight loss experts warning us that

Most Expensive IT Vulnerability
Most Expensive IT Vulnerability: Ineffective Patch Management Right now, 37% of Internet
users in the US are surfing the web with outdated versions of Java (CSIS, 2015). For
organizations that have not paid close attention to cybersecurity in the past, now is your wakeup
call. According to a recently released study, the average cost of a data breach in the United
States has climbed from $5.9 million to a staggering $6.5 million per breach (Ponemon, 2015).
This is enough to not only hurt many organizations, but also cause irrevocable damage to their
economic standings. The purpose of this paper is to examine what the root cause for most of
these breaches are. From a review of the largest breaches in the past 5 years, I have come down to
this conclusion: Unpatched software is single handedly costing American organizations billions of
dollars every year in expensive and embarrassing securitybreaches.
What are Unpatched Applications?
The first question you may be asking yourself is, What are Unpatched Applications? No
application is perfect; this is a constant in the cybersecurity realm. Vulnerabilities, or holes within
an application or operating system, will continue to be discovered. Once discovered, the developer
will design a fix for the vulnerability and release a patch or update. Once installed, the patch will
close the security flaw that had the potential to be exploited. Within an organization, there is the
possibility that not all the applications have been

Examples Of Odysseus Return Home
Odysseus Returns Home is an excerpt of The Odyssey. Written by Homer centuries ago it still
enchants its readers. Odysseus return home from Troy, after twenty years, was, without a doubt, a
big challenge, as well as, a surprise. The return of the hero is part of his destiny, in addition to, part
of his path to obtain glory and recognition.
According to Dictionary.com, destiny is something that is predetermined, usually inevitable or
irresistible course of events. For a hero, their destiny is mostly determined by the gods. What
Odysseus tells Telemachus when he finds out his father is back is an example of how even the
heroes recognize their fate, Quiet, his father, the old soldier, warned him. Get a grip on yourself.

When we do a good job or win something, who doesn t like to be praised? It is the same way for
heroes. Their return is a synonym of glory. For example, when Odysseus was undercover he tells
Penelope how his welcome was and how he was treated, So I took Odysseus back to my house,
gave him a hero s welcome, treated him in style stores in our palace made for princely
entertainment. (The Return of Odysseus, pg. 27) A hero has to prove his heroicness, retell the
stories of his andreia, if not, it never happened and he becomes one more of the rest. For
instance, Odysseus to stand out, says that people said he was a man like a god. (The Return of
Odysseus, pg. 30) His return not only is beneficial for him, but also for his community. Now,
they obtain a hero, which becomes a symbol of strength and power. Odysseus return, like many
others, needed a perfect timing, enough time to leave people in suspense. As he tells Penelope,
Odysseus would have been here beside you long ago, but he thought it would be better, shrewder
course to recoup his fortunes roving through the world. (The Return of Odysseus, pg. 30) He

Wreck It Ralph matches up pretty much even with The Hobbit for the departure. The hobbit has a
little more for the initiation, and The Hobbit definitely has more for the return than Wreck It
Ralph. In the departure of Wreck It Ralph, Ralph is in his own game doing what he does
everyday: wrecking things. Everyone is scared of him and thinks that he could never become a hero.
During The Hobbit, the hobbit is at home in his hobbit hole all nice and comfy until asked to go
on this weird journey. The part that makes it weird is that hobbits don t go on adventures.
During the initiation of The Hobbit there was a lot of dangers and obstacles to overcome such as
the forest of the spiders, the woodeleves, finding the keyhole, finding Smaug, and lots of other
events. The initiation for Wreck It Ralph was less exciting and didnt have obstacles such as
receiving the medal, destroying the car, and helping Vanellope win the race. Wreck It Ralph did
not have an exciting return. All of the dangers were destroying the candy game so Ralph had to
go in and save the game. When the game was saved, everyone went home and everything went
back to normal. For The Hobbit, Bilbo stalled when he was supposed to go home by visiting his
new friends. Bilbo was also knocked down by the dragon so the others had to help him. When

devotion and were even resurrected into the heavens. This gives the Mayan people a reason to
act in a way the Twins would have, in hopes gaining everlasting life with the gods. This tale of
the first ballgame played, between Lords and gods, is a tale that teaches the Mayans the proper
way to behave, and has taught historians of the higher powers that guide their actions. The Popol

generations. The Mayan ballgame is also important in that it was crucial in their rituals and
civilization, being almost at the center of Mayan culture. According to the article written by
Friedel, Schele, and Parker, the ballgame served as ritual ceremony a reenactment of the first
ballgames ever played between the Hero Twins and the Lords of the Underworld. The authors
stated that players would wear headdresses and godly symbols personifying the gods or Dieties.

I was walking up the moor on a sunny March morning, when I saw a forest in the distance. From
where I was standing I could see the leaves of the forest trees dancing back and forth. I ran fast to

rotted away by nature. The sign read, Shark Forest.
The forest gave me a peculiar feeling as I entered. This was because there were no forest animals

activities were able to develop students creativity, build ability to work together, learn to be more
responsible and provide new experience in project based learning that they had never experienced

The weaknesses of this learning were a lot of time and cost to complete the creative products. In
addition, students usually used teacher centered learning, Therefore, the students think it difficult to
find alternative solutions when they are faced with difficulties at the time of working on a project,
so the lecturer must often provide assistance and motivation to the students in order for them not to

Analysis Of Aimee Bender s Willful Creatures
Aimee Bender s Willful Creatures is a collection of fifteen short stories each with their own
unique story. Although each story has its own plot and characters, the overall effect produced
individually ties the book together into one single work. Whether the story is about a woman and
her potatoes, a girl who is bullied throughout her life, or a man who has intercourse with single
mothers, the problems of society is enlightened. Bender ultimately shapes her novel into a
collection of satirical pieces directed towards society. Through the individual messages portrayed
in the stories, including Dearth, Debbieland, and Motherfucker, Bender exaggerates and criticizes
problems in society. Ultimately, the satirical aspects of each story connect them with each other
and makes Willful Creatures a work of criteria to humanity. Each story portrays a different
assessment of social issues. Take for instance, Dearth presents a story about a lonely woman and
her potatoes that transform into potato children. The protagonist of Dearth is thrown into a messy
motherhood and is forced to deal with taking care of the newly born potato children ( Willful
Creatures ). For a decent amount of the story, the protagonist resents the potatoes and tries to do
whatever she can to get rid of them, such as throwing them outside or burying them in her yard
(Bender 154 and 163). Her neglect and mistreatment of the potatoes are utilized as a criteria to the
ignorance that people feel towards their

Juvenile Delinquency Is Not Acceptable
Juvenile delinquency is when minors commit criminal acts or offenses that are against the law and
in which adult prosecution is not acceptable. It is interesting to note that this was not always the
case. Before juvenile delinquency was established, juveniles were trialed and treated as adults.
There was no such thing as a juvenile court, juvenile correctional facilities, or juvenile support
groups, when the juvenile deviated. Later, many believed that when juveniles deviated that it meant
that they needed guidance and support to help them. This change was made mainly because the
value of children increased due to the fact that children were beginning to live longer and were
healthier. Throughout the semester it has been intriguing to learn more about this topic and learn
different theories related to it, as well as delinquency triggers. There are four theories that relate to
juvenile delinquency. Strain Theory is when the juvenile experiences strain, or stress, which as a
result causes them to commit delinquent acts. Strain can be caused by the juvenile failing to
achieve goals, and/or the loss of positive stimuli or the presentation of negative stimuli. Social
Learning Theory is when juveniles learn to engage in delinquent acts by being reinforced,
positively or negatively, in some way. Control Theory is when the juvenile varies with the levels of
control, which causes them to commit delinquent acts. Labeling Theory is when juveniles are
labeled as bad or delinquent ,

Neil Shubin s Your Inner Fish Essay
ReviewWith a writing style that is enabled by an obvious adoration of the subject, Neil Shubin
explores the predecessors of the human species in his book Your Inner Fish. Shubin draws upon his
unique background as a paleontologist, embryologist, and geneticist to trace defining phenotypical
traits that are inherent to humans to even the simplest of organisms. He delves into the difficult
details of evolutionthat have long remained mysteries until recent years, specifically analyzing the
transition from water to land, the rise of vision, basic body plans and scent. The magic of the book
is that although these discoveries required the brightest minds of the past two centuries, Shubin
unwraps them in a delightful manner that is interesting to both high school student and university
professor. Your Inner Fish is meant to be persuasive, to educate and formulate opinions. By tracking
these seeming complexities of humandevelopment, Shubin attempts to persuade a broad audience
in the veracity of the common ancestor. Although the premise of the book is based on evolution,
Shubin s purpose in writing the book cannot be defined by such broad terms. He is not interested in
simply proving that evolution occurs; in fact, he treats such a consensus as being already
understood. It is the actual mechanism that interests Shubin, the path that was taken by the
common ancestor that eventually whereon organisms diverged and became the human species. The
beginning of the book

Pros And Cons Of The Volunteer Army
Markets are not the best way to achieve a just society. They often allow the wealthy to have more
freedoms and greater opportunities.
This leads to the poor being disproportionately represented in the military, and the very rich are
severely underrepresented in the military. The volunteer army may not be as voluntary as you
would think, if taken into consideration the circumstances of the men and women filling the vast
majority of the military positions. The men and women filling these positions often come from
low to middle income neighborhoods, and join out of economic necessity. While young men and
women from upper class backgrounds have opted out of military service. Only 9 students out of
Princeton s 2006 class, which had 1,108 students in it, enlisted in the military. There are similar
trends to be seen all across America in elite universities and in our capital. Only 2% of Congress
have a son or daughter enlisted in the military. Congressman Charles Rangel, a democrat who
opposed the Iraq war, believes that the war never would have happened if the children of
policymakers had to bear the burden of fighting it. The volunteer army is unfair, because of class
discrimination that entices young people to risk their lives for college educations and other benefits.
Conscription is the solution to inequalities such as these. Conscription would make it fair among
the economic classes, so that everyone would be fairly represented throughout our military. Serving

Customer Service Quality At Comcast Corporation Essay
Customer Service Quality
Lack of good quality customer service can have a negative impact on any company, from fast food
restaurants to large corporations with call centers. Looking at Comcast Corporation as a specific
example of poor customer service quality, we will identify the source of the negative impact and
provide different options for improvement of quality within the call center.
Comcast Corporation started out as a small cable company and grew tremendously to the number
one company in internet and cable providers. This growth is directly correlated to the risks CEO
Brian Roberts has taken throughout the years such as buying smaller cable companies,
successfully acquiring investors to back the corporation, and at times learning from past mistakes.
With a company this big, problems are going to arise, but at what cost does a lack of quality in the
customer service department ultimately bring? Bad news travels a lot faster than good news, but
if a company already stands in the number one position, is upper management truly concerned?
Business Insider s article The 15 Worse Companies for Customer Service rated Comcast #4. The
second lowest ranked cable service. (Nisen, 2013) This refers to the television service alone,
however, both internet and cable received low scores. Comcast has lost hundreds of thousands of
TV subscribers, due to online streaming of shows with the use of Hulu and Netflix. Would a high
quality of customer service give customers the

Time Cover Analysis
Time cover has a symbolic design. The word Time rests on top of the page centered like normal,
while tiny words Al Qaeda: The Next Generation sit beneath it. Below those words, a stack of
matches stand upright with the face of the leader of Al Qaeda Osama Bin Laden plastered on all
the match heads. A bright red border surrounds the cover art. To appeal to their audience, Time uses
certain methods. Time places matches on the cover, to appeal to an international audience through
symbolism. Matches start fires. Not only this, but matches can spread fires, as matches ignite when
coming into contact with flames. Either way, matches lead to fire, which literally and figuratively
correlates to violence, danger, and destruction . Time uses this symbolism to show how they
perceive Al Qaeda s behavior, which impacts the people who read their magazine, national and
international individuals (cite). Using the picture, people will see a connection between matches
and Al Qaeda and have an image in their heads of not only what Al Qaeda s true intentions are, but
also how dangerous they can become. With this in mind, they will purchase the magazine to learn

though he is considered to be a Balletdancer, Limon is well known for performing and
choreographing a great amount of Modern Dancepiece. Jose Limon is significant to me because he
is the first Modern Dancechoreographer I know, and his representative work the Moor s Pavane
impressed me the most due to the plots and the expressive movements in this piece. After
watching the video the Moor s Pavane, it raised my interest on Jose Limon; it also motivated me
to do a deeper research on the information about Modern Dance. Jose Limon, one of the pioneers
of Modern Dance, his Limon Technique has brought a significant contribution to the field of

Liberal Franklin D. Roosevelt vs. Conservative Herbert C....
President Franklin D. Roosevelt is commonly thought of as a liberal and President Herbert C.
Hoover as a conservative. To what extent are these characterizations valid?
President Franklin D. Roosevelt is commonly identified as a liberal and President Herbert C.
Hoover as a conservative. The validity of these characterizations, however, is conditional upon the
definition of these labels. If one adopts the most conventional contemporary definitions of the
terms liberal and conversative, then the characterizations of Roosevelt as a liberal and Hoover as
a conservative are valid, but the definitions of liberal and conservative vary and change over time
and place.
At the beginning of the Great Depression, the meaning of the term ... Show more content on

Rather than governmental identification of social problems and their solutions, conservations rely
upon the market mechanics of supply and demand and the individual incentive of profit. Because
government is exponentially larger today than it was before the Great Depression, conservatives
today often critique the status quo and are resistant to further governmental expansion.
Because of the different meanings associated with the terms liberal and conservative, neither
President Hoover nor President Roosevelt can strictly be characterized as one term or another.
Today, President Herbert Hooverwould likely be characterized as a conservative. He believed in
less government participation in the people s daily life. In his 1928 election speech, Hoover
stated that Every step of bureaucratizing of the business of our country poisons the very roots of
liberalism. As government gets bigger, more offices, agencies, and rules are needed to allow the
government to run its affairs. This bureaucracy, he said, would necessarily take away the American
people s freedom to rule themselves. He renounced the new liberalism because it set bounds to the
liberties of the people. He want

The Eruption Of A Volcanic Eruption
INTRODUCTION: THE EXPERIMENT
A volcanic eruption is one of the greatest forces of nature, they can kill, maim and obliterate.
Volcanic eruptions are too dangerous for us to come close to them and scientists are trying their
best to interpret volcanoes and see them in action so that one day every volcanic eruption can be
avoided. Although we are not scientist we can still see a volcanic eruption ourselves using
chemicals, we can witness as the chemical reacts to each other behaving like lava cascading out of a
volcano.
! CAUTION: Chemical reactions can be harmful, in this experiment be careful when using
hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is a kind of detergent and bleach, which can bleach your
hair or clothes if applied to.
Materials

The Characteristics Of Rosalind Franklin
2. To what extent did the personalities of each of the three scientists affect the way in which they
did their research? (10)
Rosalind Franklin.
Rosalind Franklin was a very independent woman, and was very stubborn. This led her to be a
loner in her scientific research. She had some close friends in Paris especially, but she did not form
the argumentative relationships and did not benefit from the constructive criticism that James
Watson and Francis Crick could. (Robinson A, 2012)
Franklin was intelligent, assertive, and directly confrontational, which made it difficult for her to
work with other scientists should they make mistakes or be slower than her in finding solutions.
This was one of the reasons why her relationship with Maurice Wilkins deteriorated at King s she
was highly critical and he was shy and submissive. (Elkin L, 2009)

How did the structure of DNA identified by Watson and Crick differ from the model previously?
Do you think Rosalind Franklin received enough acknowledgement for her work from Watson and
Crick? Give reasons for your answer. (5)
Linus Pauling proposed a structure of DNA before Watson and Crick, in 1952. He suggested that
the structure of DNA was a three chain helix, bonded with hydrogen bonds. His model had placed
the sugar and phosphate components of the nucleotide in the centre of the triple helix. He also
believed that the nitrogenous bases were facing out of the helix and not inside.
(Paulingblog.wordpress.com, 2009) The problem with this model however, was that it was
impossible to have so many negatively charged phosphates in the centre of the helix without it
blowing itself apart. (Paulingblog,wordpress.com, 2009)
The Watson and Crick model of the structure of DNA differed from this in the sense that it was a
double helix, the nitrogenous bases were on the inside of the helix and the phosphate and sugar
groups were on the outside of the helix. These were all bonded with hydrogen bonds.

The characteristic beginning signs of HF include inadequate tissue perfusion and signs of volume
overload. Inadequate blood flow to tissues can be evident by fatigue, shortness of breath, and
exercise intolerance. Volume overload is evident by peripheral and pulmonary edema (fluid
collection in the limbs and on the lungs) and venous distention (due to blood pooling in circulation
from back flow in the heart) (Lehne, 2010). Systolic heart failure is characterized by enlarged
ventricles that are unable to fully contract to pump enough blood into circulation to adequately
perfuse tissues. The enlargement in ventricles is due to an increased end systolic volume. If the
heart is not able to sufficiently pump the expected volume of blood with each contraction, which in
a normal healthy heart is 50 60%, there will be a residual volume left in the heart after every pump
(Heart Healthy Women, 2012). With the next period of filling, the heart will receive the same
amount of blood volume from the atria combined with that residual volume from the previous
contraction. This causes the ventricles to have to dilate to accommodate this increase in volume.
The dilation causes the walls of the ventricles to stretch and become thin and weak. Also the
myocardium, the muscle layer of the heart, will stretch and not be able to adequately make a full
and forceful enough contraction to push blood from the ventricles (Lehne, 2010).

Benefits Of A Wireless Technology
Choosing a wireless technology to transmit very small amounts of data from A to B should be
very simple in todays world, but in reality making sense of the wireless connectivity technology
landscape for the Internet of Things is the opposite of simple and obvious it is a complex
landscape and its getting more complex as time goes by.
In the short range corner we have some familiar LAN and PAN technologies such as Bluetooth, Ble,
Wi Fi and even Zigbee. Local area network technology will find IoT applications in the home and

So far we have enjoyed LTE M, LTE MTC, Cat 1, Cat 0, Cat M, Release 12, Release 13, CIoT,
Extended Coverage IoT and NB IoT and the milestone date in our diary has slipped March 2016.
So what can we expect then?
NB IoT could be the long term goal, but we don t know for sure. What we have until that arrives is
Cat 1. In between, Cat 0 will be skipped outright, and we will also have Cat M as a stepping stone.
The difference between Cat M / NB IoT and Cat 1 is in the power consumption and cost.
Nevertheless Cat 1 is not where it needs to be. It is the interim solution until we get to Cat M
/ NB IoT. When will these actually arrive? Cat M is scheduled to be commercially available in
2017, while NB IoT is announced for 2018.
Ultimately it won t be a single race of course, and there won t be a single winner. NB IoT or
whatever it is called when it finally arrives will undoubtedly play a very significant part of the
IoT landscape but not yet and then only for use cases where there is a good fit.Applications where
the value of the individual data streams are relatively high and where energy consumption is not
so critical are a natural fit. The reality of required backward compatibility with a complex legacy
(LTE) technology is that no amount of optimisation will be competitive with a true clean slate .
The simplistic view from a decade ago is not even close to reality today and the dozen or so

The Mix Of Sexuality And Fear In The Film Interview With A...
I have had a long attraction to vampires ever since I was a young person. I remember watching
the movie INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (1994) for the first time, I was mesmerized.
Louis played by the actor Brad Pitt and Le Stat played by Tom Cruise were sophisticated,
worldly, exciting and most of all sexy. They were not sexy in the traditional sense of tall, dark
and handsome , more like pale and with sunken in eyes, but yet I found myself deeply attracted to
them. I found their lure and mysteriousness sexy and exciting. I found myself wanting more. I
often attribute my birthday being on Friday the 13th to my interest in what most people would
fear, my love for vampires. And even though you do not see any character in the film have sex.
The overwhelming sexual tension in the film makes the air thick. The common mix of sexuality
and fear is what fuels our desires towards the undead, and such is the case in Interview With a
Vampire. In my paper, I plan to discuss the mix of sexuality and fear in reference to the film.
I plan to break my body into several different parts:
1.An introduction to the film Interview With The Vampire.
The story of Louis. An 18th century plantation owner who is grieving the loss of his wife and
unborn child. Louis was extremely vulnerable during that time. Vulnerability is a recurring trope
used throughout the film and I plan to discuss how vulnerability plays into our fears and desires.
Le Stat preys on Louis vulnerability and this is how the

The Trials and Tribulations of Antonia Essay
Why do many immigrants make the long and usually costly move to America? Is it the largely
idolized notion that Americans are wealthier with better opportunities? Moreover, is the price some
pay worth the risk? In Willa Cather s My ГЃntonia, ГЃntonia faces struggles as a young child,
including language barriers, poverty, harsh living conditions, and her beloved father s death.
However, as ГЃntonia grows into a woman, she must face struggles of a social nature, such as the
division of social and economic classes, as well as social opprobrium. While immigration to
America may open many doors for immigrants, it is equally fraught with obstacles. Likewise,
ГЃntonia must face many adversities after her emigration from Bohemia to Nebraska, which...

Jim also sees a pioneer woman who has overcome the many struggles inherent to adapting to the
frontier, and yet she still encompasses the Bohemian traditions she learned as a child. Perhaps the
greatest difficulty for immigrants adapting to life in a new country is the language barrier. Upon
their arrival, the Shimerdas only speak a few sentences of broken English. According to Jim,
They could not speak enough English to ask for advice, or even to make their most pressing wants
known (Cather 46). In the beginning of their friendship, Antonia is unable to communicate
efficiently with Jim. For example, during one of Antonia and Jim s adventures, they come across
a snake that sneaks up behind Jim. Antonia, who only speaks little English, is only able to scream
at Jim in Bohemian. Although Jim is able to kill the snake, he lashes out at Antonia for speaking
Bohemian gibberish. While this frustrates Antonia, it also makes her more determined to learn
English. For instance, Antonia illustrates her desire to learn English as she makes daily trips,
traveling by barefoot, to the Burden s home to acquire new English phrases (Gerber 11). Because
the Shimerdas do not speak English, they fall easy prey to those willing to take advantage of them.

Vietnam Bond Market
Introduction
In recent years, the issue of efficiently mobilizing capital has become the concern of all
companies. There are some ways of doing this: borrowing from the banks, issuing stocks or issuing
bonds. However, when the interest rate of borrowing from banks is very high due to high inflation,
together with the stock market is quite instable; calling for capital from bond market is much more
preferred by investors.
In the context of this report, some major points regarding the bond market in Vietnam are
presented. Firstly, a common picture about the Vietnam bond market is drawn. Next come the types
of bonds and major participants in this market. Finally, several ways by which bonds are issued are
described in details.

However, Vietnamese individual investors still prove to be unprofessional for some reasons: Main
source of capital usually coming from banks, lack of reliable information about the market,
limitation in accurate evaluation of the value of bonds and the bond issuing organizations.
Therefore, they have tendency to invest following the majority: sell immediately when prices of
securities decrease and buy right away when prices increase. This will lead to the high fluctuation
of the market, so easily results in the losses suffering of many investors.
2. Fund managers
Fund management is the professional management of various securities (shares, bonds etc.) to meet
specified investment goals for the benefit of the investors. Fund management companies play an
important part in the development of securities market. Since the establishment of VietFund
Management, the first fund management company in Vietnam in 2003, until now, 38 fund
managers have been granted operation licenses by SSC. Among them, FPT Fund Management Joint
Stock Company has the highest chartered capital with 110 billion VND and Lotus IMC has lowest
charter capital with 5 billion VND.

The Distribution System
As soon as a distribution system is built, it suffers a predictable decline in condition and efficacy.
Some elements may have a life cycle of 25 to 30 years before major work is required. Other items
will need regular service almost immediately after start up. The role of maintenance is to identify
and remedy potential problems before they impact operation. This requires establishment of a set of
operating parameters. The design specifications help to identify the maintenance parameters. Both
preventive and corrective maintenance are necessary in a distribution system. The objective of
maintenance is the maximum continuous service of the equipment in the system at the lowest
possible cost to the utility. Preventive maintenance is specifically scheduled to insure the safety of
the water and results in fewer interuptions of service and fewer customer complaints. Such things as
inspecting, monitoring, testing, repairing and disinfecting the lines, as well as locating and
repairing leaks in the system. The heart of any maintenance operation is the preventive maintenance
(PM) effort. PM involves regularly checking and servicing the system so that it is in peak operating
condition. Preventive maintenance allows the maintenance department to catch any potential
problems before they impact the functioning of the equipment. Preventive maintenance (PM) is
sometimes referred to as predictive maintenance. This terminology reinforces the idea that PM is

Mcclosky On Being An Aetheist Analysis

  • 2. The History Of Prehistory And History According to the British historian E.H. Carr, The line of demarcation between prehistoric and historical times crossed when people cease to live only in the present, and become consciously interested both in their past and in their future. History begins with the handing down of tradition . So prehistoryis the event that happened during the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. During the prehistoric era, a number of inventions and discoveries arise. Therefore, during the Iron Age, the prehistorygradually ended. After this era, everything that happened during prehistory is now considered to be a history. Therefore, in order to preserve prehistory, it will be recorded as a history. So now, the history contains the archeological materials and fossils that existed during prehistoric era. Both prehistory and history have a stringline difference because they are somehow alike in their purpose and significance to the society. Prehistory that later became a history provides us with details of how people lived to survive during those early ages when there is no technological developments ... What is the significance of historical studies to the creation of the nation and the strengthening of the cultural, social, and moral fiber of society? As what Jocano said, All artifacts were made by and for people . That is why; these historical studies give us an idea of the motives, values and behavior of group life. These values and motives will also serve as the basis in the present and future generations why we somehow share the same culture and tradition. • 3. The Prentice Hall Self Assessment Part I of the Prentice Hall Self Assessment provided me with some interesting information about my personality, some of which was known and some that was new to me. The test covering my basic personality provided me with what I would consider known information. My scores were spot on for the Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Emotional stability, but what really surprised me was my score for openness to experience. In this category I scored a 7 which makes me a moderate low in that area which I find to be the perfect score as I often have a tendency to lean towards those things that I am most familiar with, but I also have small interest in the unfamiliar and am slightly open to exploring new ways of doing things. My Jungian Personality has and always be an ISTJ due to my need for privacy and structure in my everyday life. Kroeger, Thuesen and Rutledge (2007) affirms this as they state an ISTJ s day to day living is driven by structure, schedule, and order, and their Introversion makes them appear somewhat cool and aloof (p. 306). For the Type A personality I scored a 111 which equates to having an A personality. This is about 95% accurate as I am constantly striving to achieve more out of life and at times I can be difficult to get along with due to my drive to succeed. The things noted in the study that would set me apart from those considered to be hardcore Type A persons would be that I am not always moving at a fast pace in all that I do and ... • 4. Augustine s Confessions Essays Augustine s Confessions The content of my paper will be an analysis of Augustine s Confessions. I will focus on the first nine chapters of the book. First, I will write an introductory page about Augustine. Second, I will explain why Augustine wrote the Confessions and the importance of the Confessions as a philosophical work. I will analyze Augustine s view of God and show the main theme of his book, which is, the sovereign God of grace and the sovereign grace of God. I will focus on Augustine s view of God and His grace. Augustine was born Aurelius Augustinus on November 13, 354 in North Africa. He received a classical Latin education and went to study rhetoric at the age of twelve in Madaura. He later studied at Cathrage... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Confessions is divided into thirteen books. I will focus my analysis on the first ten books, which are his autobiography. The other three books are important but they do not have to do with his life story. The book expresses three main concerns. One is Augustine s frank and detailed acknowledgment of his personal sinfulness and the power he came to recognize as God s provident grace protective, creative, salvific in every moment of his life. He also wrote in order to confess his own Christian faith and clearly repudiate any supposed lingering connections on his part with Manichaeism. Finally, The Confessions are a heartfelt paean of praise and thanksgiving in honor of God s glory. Augustine begins his autobiography with a prayer and meditation. This is fitting because the main theme of The Confessions is to praise and thank God. He begins by saying that God has, made us and drawn us to yourself, and our heart is unquiet until it rests in you. This is a very good point because it is a reflection of Augustine s struggle to find piece with himself. Throughout the rest of the book Augustine is constantly changing his beliefs and looking for the truth, his heart is restless. And it is not until he finds the Catholic faith and has his conversion that he finds piece. Augustine like all philosophers is a lover of truth. He is unsure how he should call upon the Lord (3). He points out that it is his faith, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Comparison of the Founding Documents for the United States of America Liberty University A Comparison of the Founding Documents for the United States of America This document will provide a brief comparison and synopsis of some of the most important writings of our time: The Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson s letter to the Danbury Baptists, and the U.S. Constitution. Also, this will be an analysis of what I believe the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution thought about the separation of church and state, as well as God from government. The Declaration of Independence was written on July 4, 1776 by Thomas Jefferson. Its purpose was to officially separate the colonies from Great Britain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I tried defining specific things in the Constitution such as secure blessings of liberty (Delegates, 2015). Secure can mean to make something stay where it is; to stay put. A blessing is something that can be good provided by a higher being (God) and liberty means freedom. Therefore secure blessings of liberty means to make sure the good things we have (blessings) because of a higher being (God) and our freedom stays put and or not taken away from us. With the above synopsis of the three important documents, I can now really compare them all. The Declaration is a statement to declare freedom and separate from Great Britain, listing all the horrible things the king did for the colonies reason to become independent, while the U.S. Constitution was written after, to be more specific to the government and how that should be run. The Declaration was more of a broad, almost philosphical view of what the US should be. The Constitution lays out the new government stating there will be a Congress, President, and a Supreme Court. It further details the powers of each branch and how each should be run. The Constitution was written by respresentatives of all the states; however the Declaration was written by Jefferson and revised by the delegates of the 13 colonies. The letter Jefferson wrote to the Danburry Baptists sparked a debate about the separation between church and state and what that really means. There have been many interpretations of that over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. How To Use Technical Errors In The Film Listen To Your Heart The film Listen to your Heart, directed by Matt Thompson, is a romantic drama about a lowly songwriter and a vibrant deaf girl. The film follows the pair through their relationship, showing that is it is possible to have a relationship between the hearing and deaf. It also claims that because they love each other, they will do anything for the other. This type of filmis extremely rare because of the high quality of filming and use of a non speaking man character. However, this film is not really looked upon by the deaf community as a good deaf film. There are many technical mistakes made about deaf people making this film just a feel good movie, but nothing more. The movie Listen to your Heart is about a deaf college girl and... Yes, she physically can not talk on the phone however, there are several different ways to overcome this, one is to text, this movie is set in modern times where texting is available. She could have used a TTY (Text Telephone) machine or a Video Relaying Service. Another problem that has developed was when Arianna has received a letter to have the Cochlear Implant done (CI). She never had a consultation by a doctor or examination to see she was eligible for the CI. The implants do not work for everyone, however, Arianna goes ahead and has the surgery. Even though it is possible for a CI to work for an Adult it is a rare case, because implants are typical done for children. • 9. People Must Be Their Own Individual Person In today s society, people believe that they need to conform to other s ideas and ways. Conforming to others takes away from being an individual. People need to be themselves and not like someone else just because society says so. Fitting in with people is not always what it seems to be. Just because everyone is doing it does not mean it is right. People should be who they wantto be, not who they think they needto be. Everyone should be their own individual person. Society today is full of people who want to fit in with the so called popular people. Everyone thinks that the group is popular, so they must have great ideas and thoughts. They might have some great ideas, but they might not be everyone s ideas. People should not have to change who they are or what they think just to fit in with people. Just because the popular group seems to be the group to be in, does not mean that is all that is out there. If everyone stays an individual, there is bound to be people who have similar ideas. Do not conform to what others say or do just to fit in. Everyone s thoughts matter even if there is some doubt they do not. Following society puts people in the so called perfect box. The more people think like others than themselves, the more they become immune to being an individual. Society has a hold on people that may not be noticed. Everyone has an ideaof the perfect person, which comes from society. There are some instances where everyone has conformed to this one idea because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They do this by assisting them in getting a home where they can gain some sort of sustainability in their daily lives. The social housing policy has been round for a numerous amount of years and has changed over time with different political parties being part of it. National is a neoliberal party but also a social democratic. Since National has come into government. There has been a significant amount of change which has had negative and positive effects on citizens and communities in Aotearoa and the factors contributing to the impacts of this policy are social, economic and environmental impacts. Social factors contributing to this policy are that National has made it possible for registered community housing providers to access the same income related housing subsides as housing New Zealand which is another social housing company, which means tenants who need social housing will be able to access discounted rents (Hamilton, 2014). This will have a positive impact on citizens in Aotearoa who need housing assistance as it will be more affordable for people on a low income to be able to pay rent. • 12. An Ideal Weight Of The Body Mass Index There are many people struggling to keep their weight ideal. An ideal weight according to the medical definition is the weight that provides an individual with lowest health risks (Wicks, 2016). There are many different ways to figure out if an individual is considered to have ideal weight; one of which is by measuring the body mass index, also known as BMI (Wicks, 2016). BMI can be measured by weight in kilogram divided by height in meters squared. Ideal weight is above 18.5 and below 24.5, anything below 18.5 is consider underweight and above 24.5 is considered overweight (Wicks, 2016). Although BMI can be easily calculated, it does have some concerns regarding the fact that it does not take into consideration body composition and distribution (Wicks, 2016). To reach their ideal healthy weight some individuals turn to changing their diet while others seem to turn to exercising. Those who turn to changing their diet take kilocalories into consideration. Kilocalories is the unit used for measurement of energy, and to determine one s weight, energy balance equation is used; this equation is energy input minus energy output equals either positive or negative energy (Wicks, 2016). People who are overweight consider these kilocalories in everything they eat and drink. Although there is more than one way to achieve a healthy weight, exercising seems to be more beneficial for various reasons. Dieting consists of changing and considering the nutritionvalue in every food item ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This man is a felon, and his right to vote has been taken away. Approximately 5.85 million Americans can t vote due to a felony charge (Newsy). Although it can be argued that felons have lost their privilege to vote, felon disenfranchisement has affected and still affects a disproportionate amount of people of color, takes out a huge voter block, and inhibits the rehabilitation process. Therefore, community members should sign petitions or contact senators to help felons regain their rights. Some sources believe felons should not be given the right to vote after having committed a felony, because voting is a privilege. Once people commit a felony, they lose this privilege. They also believe that since felons have committed a crime, they do not have the ability to make judgements in elections. If they made the judgement to commit a crime, they do not have the right mindset to make a judgement in an election. These sources believe that voting is a privilege, but voting is a right guaranteed to the American people. Felons, despite their past crimes, are still American citizens and they don t deserve to have their right taken away. Furthermore, the idea that felons are incapable of making judgements in politics because of their crimes is absurd. The whole point of their imprisonment is to rehabilitate them into society and put ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is also the only member of his family who acknowledges his own failures in life. On the whole, Biff Loman stands out as the most intriguing and strong character in Death of a Salesman. He is not a successful man and never will be, he is however able to admit this, even in a harsh society as the one of the 1960s America. Biff knows he is a nothing and tries to make his father see that he is no good. I am a dime a dozen, Pop, and so are you. He begs for Willy to communicate with him and accept him for who he is. He considers his dad s dreams materialistic and unreachable. As a matter of fact, in the Requiem, even after his father s death, Biff says: He had the wrong dreams. All, all wrong. Unlike Happy and Willy, Biff is self aware and values facts; Willy never was a successful salesman and he never wanted to face the truth. • 22. The Realism Theory Of The War On Afghanistan There are, however, aspects that disqualify the realism theory in examining the War in Afghanistan. For example, realism explicitly applies to relations between nations and consequently, war between countries. This was not the case, since the war did and still does not involve conflict between America and Afghanistan. Rather the war was between America and the Taliban government that supported the infamous terror group, al Qaeda. For this reason, realist theory does not explain this highly controversial war. Another aspect that contravenes realism as an appropriate theoretical approach to understanding the War in Afghanistan is that fact that, America toppled the Taliban government within its first few months of the invasion. Realism cannot, as a result, explain why American troops and those of allied forces have not yet been pulled out of Afghanistan more than a decade after war started (Bird and Marshall 37). Another principal attribute that disqualifies realism in debunking the Afghanistan War is the fact that America made concerted efforts to gain support from the United Nations (UN) before commencing the invasion. This contravenes the assertion put forth by the realist theory that, a nation does not take the international system or organization into consideration when taking actions directed towards safeguarding its survival. The autonomous action stipulated in realism is particularly essential when a state is threatened and cannot afford to trust other nations. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As our population s obesity rate grows every year and health concerns related to weight control grows along with it, natural sugar is scrutinized and we are told to keep away from it as it is our enemy. Over the last couple of decades, we have been introduced to more and more varieties of artificial sweeteners promising to deliver the same sweetness or even more sweetness than natural sugar (some offer as much as 200 times more sweetness than sugar) but with a much lower calorie content, or some even no calories at all. Artificial sweeteners such as Splenda, Sweet n Low, NutraSweet, and Equal have become popular as better alternatives to table sugar, promising to help battle weight gain and actually assist in losing weight. However, does this make it the healthier option? As with all things, both natural sugar and artificial sugar have their pros and cons, but in order to find the best option in regards to our health and futures, it s important to weigh them according to scientific findings and research. Whether the story is about a woman and her potatoes, a girl who is bullied throughout her life, or a man who has intercourse with single mothers, the problems of society is enlightened. Bender ultimately shapes her novel into a collection of satirical pieces directed towards society. Through the individual messages portrayed in the stories, including Dearth, Debbieland, and Motherfucker, Bender exaggerates and criticizes problems in society. Ultimately, the satirical aspects of each story connect them with each other and makes Willful Creatures a work of criteria to humanity. Each story portrays a different assessment of social issues. Take for instance, Dearth presents a story about a lonely woman and her potatoes that transform into potato children. The protagonist of Dearth is thrown into a messy motherhood and is forced to deal with taking care of the newly born potato children ( Willful Creatures ). For a decent amount of the story, the protagonist resents the potatoes and tries to do whatever she can to get rid of them, such as throwing them outside or burying them in her yard (Bender 154 and 163). Her neglect and mistreatment of the potatoes are utilized as a criteria to the ignorance that people feel towards their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Juvenile Delinquency Is Not Acceptable Juvenile delinquency is when minors commit criminal acts or offenses that are against the law and in which adult prosecution is not acceptable. It is interesting to note that this was not always the case. Before juvenile delinquency was established, juveniles were trialed and treated as adults. There was no such thing as a juvenile court, juvenile correctional facilities, or juvenile support groups, when the juvenile deviated. Later, many believed that when juveniles deviated that it meant that they needed guidance and support to help them. This change was made mainly because the value of children increased due to the fact that children were beginning to live longer and were healthier. Throughout the semester it has been intriguing to learn more about this topic and learn different theories related to it, as well as delinquency triggers. There are four theories that relate to juvenile delinquency. Strain Theory is when the juvenile experiences strain, or stress, which as a result causes them to commit delinquent acts. Strain can be caused by the juvenile failing to achieve goals, and/or the loss of positive stimuli or the presentation of negative stimuli. Social Learning Theory is when juveniles learn to engage in delinquent acts by being reinforced, positively or negatively, in some way. Control Theory is when the juvenile varies with the levels of control, which causes them to commit delinquent acts. Labeling Theory is when juveniles are labeled as bad or delinquent , ... • 40. Neil Shubin s Your Inner Fish Essay ReviewWith a writing style that is enabled by an obvious adoration of the subject, Neil Shubin explores the predecessors of the human species in his book Your Inner Fish. Shubin draws upon his unique background as a paleontologist, embryologist, and geneticist to trace defining phenotypical traits that are inherent to humans to even the simplest of organisms. He delves into the difficult details of evolutionthat have long remained mysteries until recent years, specifically analyzing the transition from water to land, the rise of vision, basic body plans and scent. The magic of the book is that although these discoveries required the brightest minds of the past two centuries, Shubin unwraps them in a delightful manner that is interesting to both high school student and university professor. Your Inner Fish is meant to be persuasive, to educate and formulate opinions. By tracking these seeming complexities of humandevelopment, Shubin attempts to persuade a broad audience in the veracity of the common ancestor. Although the premise of the book is based on evolution, Shubin s purpose in writing the book cannot be defined by such broad terms. He is not interested in simply proving that evolution occurs; in fact, he treats such a consensus as being already understood. It is the actual mechanism that interests Shubin, the path that was taken by the common ancestor that eventually whereon organisms diverged and became the human species. The beginning of the book ... This literary work is very interesting for me examined by psychological approach. The entire text has a male centred structure, the dominant persona is male. There are several names and characterizations such as poor boy , killed a man , Galileo . All of these references show the dominant gender in the text. Although there is a less strong female presence as well such as mama and mama mia .(The English studies book introduction to language, literature and culture, second edition Rob Pope). This leads to the poor being disproportionately represented in the military, and the very rich are severely underrepresented in the military. The volunteer army may not be as voluntary as you would think, if taken into consideration the circumstances of the men and women filling the vast majority of the military positions. The men and women filling these positions often come from low to middle income neighborhoods, and join out of economic necessity. While young men and women from upper class backgrounds have opted out of military service. Only 9 students out of Princeton s 2006 class, which had 1,108 students in it, enlisted in the military. There are similar trends to be seen all across America in elite universities and in our capital. Only 2% of Congress have a son or daughter enlisted in the military. Congressman Charles Rangel, a democrat who opposed the Iraq war, believes that the war never would have happened if the children of policymakers had to bear the burden of fighting it. The volunteer army is unfair, because of class discrimination that entices young people to risk their lives for college educations and other benefits. Customer Service Quality At Comcast Corporation Essay Customer Service Quality Lack of good quality customer service can have a negative impact on any company, from fast food restaurants to large corporations with call centers. Looking at Comcast Corporation as a specific example of poor customer service quality, we will identify the source of the negative impact and provide different options for improvement of quality within the call center. Comcast Corporation started out as a small cable company and grew tremendously to the number one company in internet and cable providers. This growth is directly correlated to the risks CEO Brian Roberts has taken throughout the years such as buying smaller cable companies, successfully acquiring investors to back the corporation, and at times learning from past mistakes. With a company this big, problems are going to arise, but at what cost does a lack of quality in the customer service department ultimately bring? Bad news travels a lot faster than good news, but if a company already stands in the number one position, is upper management truly concerned? Business Insider s article The 15 Worse Companies for Customer Service rated Comcast #4. The second lowest ranked cable service. (Nisen, 2013) This refers to the television service alone, however, both internet and cable received low scores. The validity of these characterizations, however, is conditional upon the definition of these labels. Do you think Rosalind Franklin received enough acknowledgement for her work from Watson and Crick? Give reasons for your answer. (5) Linus Pauling proposed a structure of DNA before Watson and Crick, in 1952. He suggested that the structure of DNA was a three chain helix, bonded with hydrogen bonds. His model had placed the sugar and phosphate components of the nucleotide in the centre of the triple helix. He also believed that the nitrogenous bases were facing out of the helix and not inside. (Paulingblog.wordpress.com, 2009) The problem with this model however, was that it was impossible to have so many negatively charged phosphates in the centre of the helix without it blowing itself apart. (Paulingblog,wordpress.com, 2009) The Watson and Crick model of the structure of DNA differed from this in the sense that it was a double helix, the nitrogenous bases were on the inside of the helix and the phosphate and sugar groups were on the outside of the helix. The characteristic beginning signs of HF include inadequate tissue perfusion and signs of volume overload. Inadequate blood flow to tissues can be evident by fatigue, shortness of breath, and exercise intolerance. Volume overload is evident by peripheral and pulmonary edema (fluid collection in the limbs and on the lungs) and venous distention (due to blood pooling in circulation from back flow in the heart) (Lehne, 2010). Systolic heart failure is characterized by enlarged ventricles that are unable to fully contract to pump enough blood into circulation to adequately perfuse tissues. The enlargement in ventricles is due to an increased end systolic volume. If the heart is not able to sufficiently pump the expected volume of blood with each contraction, which in a normal healthy heart is 50 60%, there will be a residual volume left in the heart after every pump (Heart Healthy Women, 2012). With the next period of filling, the heart will receive the same amount of blood volume from the atria combined with that residual volume from the previous contraction. This causes the ventricles to have to dilate to accommodate this increase in volume. The dilation causes the walls of the ventricles to stretch and become thin and weak. Also the myocardium, the muscle layer of the heart, will stretch and not be able to adequately make a full and forceful enough contraction to push blood from the ventricles (Lehne, 2010). ...
