This document discusses the importance of preparing students to be global citizens and connecting classrooms globally. It argues that we must teach students 21st century skills like collaboration, problem solving, and digital literacy to address complex global problems. Recommendations include having students learn about other cultures through travel or immersion experiences, teaching from a global perspective, and connecting classrooms through projects on platforms like iEARN. The goal is for students and teachers to become knowledgeable, critical thinkers aware of world events who can learn and work collaboratively across networks.

Technology Transforms Pedagogy: Combining the Tools and the VisionChris Lehmann
Slides from my ISTE 2013 Presentation:
Participants in this workshop will be able to develop a coherent educational vision and work on how to leverage educational technology in service of that vision. Every participant will be able to examine what is in their zone of control where they are now and work to make that zone more aligned with their best vision of education and educational technology. Participants will be able to examine how the use of technology can be a transformative tool for achieving their best ideas.
I was invited to speak to an undergraduate class at University of Texas, Austin. This presentation recommended they think bigger about the social opportunity before them and reinforced how important their professional social networks will be as they progress through their career. I used a few case studies (including my own) to exemplify what is possible.
50 years visions of the next space generation. Study presented by Bee Thakore...Bijal (Bee) Hayes-Thakore
On the occasion of 50 years of spaceflight, Space Generation Advisory Council undertook a study to map the visions for the next 50 years, led by a small group of volunteer members - Bee Thakore, Alex Karl, Tiffany Frierson, Kathleen Coderre, Agnieszka Lukaszczyk. This is a executive summary of the collection of 750 unique space visions of our futures and the recommendations offered youth groups actively involved in space activities and advocacy to industry and UN leaders. Presented at various conferences and seminars - including UN COPUOS, International Space University Symposium, IAF, IAA and IAC.
We thought about titling this session, "Stop Giving Them The Answer: Let Them Figure It Out Themselves!", but thought that sounded a little too edgy. Join us for a strategy-building session on how to foster student-owned learning in the classroom (and live!). Don’t expect one size fits all answers – but questions, strategies, possibilities, examples, and maybe a few awkward silences…
Join us as we explore ways to:
Engage and empower students as critical thinkers, questioners, connectors and creators of content
Build student repertoire of problem-solving strategies
Promote and develop student capacity for finding the right information, right relationships and right resources, all at the right time
Challenge learners to mine mistakes, wrong turns and “failures” for the richer learning opportunities embedded within

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

25. First you help them define the term “citizen of the
world”. Then you help them learn what being a good
citizen means -- to themselves, to loved ones and
family, to the school community, to the surrounding
community. One’s actions can be directly linked to
one’s values (beliefs, feelings, and actions that are
important to us), so starting with a basic
understanding of one’s values is essential to
any meaningful discussions on citizenship. The
global context is meaningless unless students are
good citizens of their own nation.

26. Right before our eyes, all that the education sector
has controlled, dismissed, manipulated, validated,
embellished, fictionalized, and ranked within an aura
of tradition and ritual may be accessed by point-and-
click. We need to stop chasing exponentially
expanding content. Inquiry, problem recognition
and solution, creativity, knowing one’s strengths and
weaknesses, communication, and relationships are
what students must be prepared for.

27. Becoming a world citizen requires knowledge
and experience of other cultures; U.S. schools
do not provide knowledge or experience.
Rather, they provide a cursory glimpse of others in
order to exemplify how not to be American.
“Diversity Day” does not create world citizens, it
patronizes cultural difference and touts xenophobia,
and always winds up pandering American culture as
Eurocentrically defined. Only travel and immersion
in other cultures creates world citizens.
