Since the FAIR data principles were published in 2016, many organizations including science funders and governments have adopted these principles to promote and foster true open science collaborations. However, to define a vision and create a video of a Personal Health Train that leverages worldwide FAIR health data in a federated manner is one step. To actually make this happen at scale and be able to show new scientific and medical insights for it is quite another! In this webinar, we will dive into the basics of FAIR health data, but also take stock of the current situation in health data networks: after a year of frantic research and collaborations and many open datasets and hackathons on COVID-19, has the situation actually improved? Are we sharing health data on a global scale to improve medical practice, or is quality medical data still only accessible to researchers with the right credentials and deep pockets? This webinar is part of the “How FAIR are you” webinar series and hackathon, which aim at increasing and facilitating the uptake of FAIR approaches into software, training materials and cohort data, to facilitate responsible and ethical data and resource sharing and implementation of federated applications for data analysis. The CINECA webinar series aims to discuss ways to address common challenges and share best practices in the field of cohort data analysis, as well as distribute CINECA project results. Challenges and opportunities for Infonet-Biovision on mobile phones

Infonet-Biovision (www.infonet-biovision.org) is a corner stone of the Biovision Farmer Communication Programme (FCP) in Africa. The programme is supported by Biovision Foundation, a Swiss non-profit organization with the mission of sustainably improving life for people in Africa while conserving the environment as the basis for all life. The FCP pursues a theory of change which postulates that ecologically sustainable solutions are a practical alternative for African farmers to achieve good crop yields without using expen-sive chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Mobile and web technologies are important for the FCP because the change process can benefit from these tools. We expect that In-fonet-Biovision on mobile phones can lead to socio-economic development in terms of food security (through enhanced sustainable agriculture), income generation (from diver-sified quality products and no expensive chemical fertilizers and pesticides) and gender equality (resulting from individualized access to information). In an ongoing, exploratory project we have developed the beta version of an Android application for Infonet-Biovi-sion. We are also working on a mobile browser version of the website. In this paper we present an assessment of challenges and opportunities for this project which are related to technology (operating systems, technology literacy, devices, data), design (usability, user experience, participatory design and customisation), content (quality, media, user generated content) and the roll-out (target groups, adoption, partnerships).

ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex Proofs

This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).
