Michelle Tremblay has taught self-defense classes for two years at Glenrosa Middle School. A teacher, Greg Hyslop, observed her teaching and believes the program benefits students by increasing self-esteem and teaching personal space and boundaries. The self-defense taught is entirely defensive and cannot be used offensively, addressing parents' concerns. Michelle has a gentle teaching style that connects well with students. She is not associated with any dojo, avoiding complaints about promoting business. Hyslop feels the program is valuable and recommends having Michelle teach as many district students as possible.

GLENROSA MIDDLE SCHOOL
I have had the pleasure of working with Michelle Tremblay for two years running. She has
taught self-defense units at Glenrosa Middle school to all of our students. I have been with her
while she has been teaching grade 7 classes.
I feel that the program that she delivers would benefit all middle school students. The program
that she delivered increased the self-esteem of my students. She taught them about personal
space and how to be mindfut of it. As well as how to establish appropriate boundaries.
Everything that I have seen her teach is entirely defensive. None of it can be used offensively.
This is a fantastic point for the families that are hesitant about letting their children be involved
in self-defense.
Michelle has an extremely gentle teaching style that is very effective with all of the classes that I
have seen her teach. She is very approachable, to adults and students. She is able to quickly
establish great connections with the students in a very short time. Usually during the first or
second class.
I also appreciate the fact that she is not associated with any particular dojo because there are no
parental complaints about her trying to "drum up business."
I feel that her program is so valuable that it would be worthwhile for our district to consider
having her deliver it to as many of our students as possible.
