N a g p u r
 Nagpur with a population of around 2.5 million is the 13th largest urban conglomeration in India and
114th largest city in world. It is the second capital of Maharashtra. It is a clean & green city providing
quality life at reasonable costs, cosmopolitan culture, excellent education, quality healthcare, good law
and order situation and excellent civic infrastructure.
 It is a city safe from possibilities of natural disasters, it falls under the safest earthquake zone II, lies
outside flood related zones, there are no active volcanic zones, and it is more than 1000 kms away from
nearest sea coast with no risk of Hurricanes and Tsunamis.
 Over 200 domestic and 300 international flights fly over Nagpur every day. It has a strategic place on
international aviation routes for cargo hubbing.
 It is situated at cross-roads of India's North-South and East-West routes by road, rail and air, has all-
weather international airport. Over 7000 trucks, 120-140 passenger trains and about 80-100 freight
trains cross Nagpur every day.
 Nagpur is a large trading center for a number of commodities and services. Butibori Industrial area
situated 15 kms from the Airport is the largest in Asia in terms of area.

• A metro rail is being constructed for smooth intra-city commute, South Nagpur (Khapri) route will
be operational in 2018 & all routes by 2019. In Phase 2 metro rail is to be expanded to Butibori,
Hingna, Kanhan and London street to Amravati road.
• A 706 Kms Samruddhi Expressway is in process of being constructed with South Korean participation
from Nagpur to Mumbai. It will boost bring down travel time to Mumbai to just 8 hours. It will
attract agro-based industries and globally competitive manufacturing units to Vidarbha &
Marathwada.
• MIHAN International Airport is to be made. There will be flights operating to various destinations all
over the world from here. From an Orange city to the Tiger Capital to a globalizing city, Nagpur is
seeing infrastructure like never before, thanks to extremely strong political will to bring it at par with
other world cities.
• State & local government policy is focused towards bringing ease of doing business both for
industry and real estate sectors. Building plan approvals, conversion of land use, permissions for
industry are being made easier & faster.

 Vidarbha has 48.7% of the installed thermal power generation of Maharashtra due to availability of
Coal.
 It has 80% of the mineral wealth of Maharashtra and is rich in Coal, Limestone, Manganese and
Iron ore.
 Major industries in Vidarbha are Power, Synthetic Yarn, Cement, Steel, Engineering, Transmission
Tower, Agro & Food Processing.

• Major crops in Vidarbha region are Cotton, Oranges (largest in Maharashtra), and Soyabean.
• Other crops include Bamboo, Sorghum, Flax Seed, Pulses, Rice, Wheat, Cotton, Red Chillies,
Turmeric, Garlic, Ginger, Vegetables and Flowers.
• Fruits include Sweet Lime, Papaya, Berries, Banana and Custard Apple. Nagpur is a hub of betel nut
business in India.
• There are several opportunities in agro-processing, farm-to-fork and animal husbandry.
• Cow & Goat products have high medicinal value and are profitable business.

• Prominent companies in food sector include Haldiram, Dinshaws, Ruchi Soya, Ankur Seeds, Suruchi
(spices) and ADM Agro.
• Fragrance & Flavour development centre is to come up at Nagpur.
• Patanjali's 800 TPD Orange juice plant to start operations by Mar 2018. Their food park at MIHAN
will be the biggest in South Asia. It is investing another INR 2,000 crores in neighboring Wardha
district.
• Another Orange processing plant, a JV of Jain Irrigation & Coca Cola, is coming up at Morshi in
neighboring Amravati district.
• Nestle is setting up milk processing plant in neighboring Bhandara dist. Mother dairy is to set up a
INR 400 crore plant to raise milk production in Vidarbha.

 According to industry experts, the world’s top three car markets will be China, US, India. India can be a
big base for exports of parts. We need better FTA with UK, ASEAN and Europe. Countries like Middle
east, Africa, Australia can be catered to.
 Currently the entire auto industry in India is located at Gurgaon, Pune and Chennai. According to the
people in the know, there can be a 30-40% savings if an auto-cluster comes up near Nagpur as
products related to casting, electrical, fabrication, injection molding and forging can come to this auto
component cluster.
 There is opportunity to manufacture electric commercial vehicles, cars & two wheelers. Vidarbha is
surrounded by 3 states and the production can be marketed at minimum cost.

 Nagpur has a manufacturing facility of the world's biggest tractor manufacturer Mahindra.
 Ashok Leyland, one of the leading commercial vehicle manufacturer has a plant at Bhandara near
Nagpur.
 Ceat Tyres has setup a plant at MIHAN which after expansion will make 1 Lakh tyres/day making it
biggest single location tyre manufacturing facility in India.
 Exide is to set up a battery plant at Butibori.

 Nagpur is the center of India and also central location between South Africa and North East Asia,
Russia and South East Asia, Europe and South East Asia, Europe and Australia. It is a suitable location
for international air cargo hubbing. On the domestic front Nagpur has the best location in India from
the point of view of sustaining domestic hubbing and can act as a hub for all North, South, East, West
traffic in India.
 Nagpur is also an ideal location for manufacturing of defense aircrafts & space parts of aircrafts in
which Russian government is interested in investing in India. Russia is interested in making
investments in defense, aerospace, logistics and warehousing at MIHAN area in Nagpur.
 The Indian Aerospace & Defense sector offers huge opportunities for private companies across the
supply chain. There are opportunities in indigenization & outsourcing in manufacturing, reclamation
of aircraft and aero-engine parts for the airforce.
 Nagpur is geographically very well located, air traffic utilization can easily bring the city on
international map. says Clare Petrich, Board Member, Greater Seattle Trade Development Alliance &
Board of Directors (Commission) of the Port of Tacoma.

 Boeing has setup a MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility for Air India, which is said to be
one of the most modern in the subcontinent. It will service aircraft such as B-737, B-777 and the
Dreamliner. It is expected to service 85 aircrafts every year.
 TAL makes floor beams for Boeing & Airbus at MIHAN in Nagpur. TAL is the only facility outside US
suppling ACFB (advanced composite floor beams) for Boeing’s Dreamliners 787-9 & 787-10. ACFB’s
are being exported to Boeing partners in US, Japan and Italy.
 Dassault Reliance Aerostructure is setting up facility in MIHAN to make components connected to
purchase of Rafale aircraft from France. It will have assembly lines & manufacturing facilities for fixed
wing aircraft. It will also make components for Falcon 2000 civil jets of Dassault and become part of
it’s global supply chain. Production of phase 1 is expect in Feb 2018.
 A JV of SAB & Adani is likely to choose Nagpur for their venture.

• India is one of the world’s largest importers of defense equipment.
• To reduce dependence on imports, the Government has opened this sector to the private
investment to manufacture the items in India.
• There are Ordinance Factories in Nagpur and Bhandara, creating potential for manufacturing several
items for them.
• Solar Industries, India’s largest manufacturer of Industrial explosives and Explosive initiating systems
is setting up an ammunition plant with an investment of Rs 1550 crores to manufacture ammunition
for the Armed Forces.

• Nagpur is fast becoming an education hub thereby making available a pool of qualified people at
reasonable costs for the IT, services and manufacturing sectors.
• Vidarbha region has 27 Engineering Colleges churning out 8700 graduates yearly. Nagpur has
renowned institutions like VNIT and LIT.
• AIIMS, IIM, IIIT, NIPER, Maharashtra National Law Univesity, Simbiosys University, Sanskrit
University are being setup in Nagpur.
• Industrial Robotics (PG Diploma) course has been started in partnership with ABB, Nagpur has
potential to be centre of Robotics.
• Opportunities abound for setting up world class education facilities in JV with some of the best
universities.

Forest Medicine
 As per news reports, Tribals are not seen dying of a heart attack, nor seen suffering from diabetes or
blood pressure. If they get injured, they use leaves of some trees and they are completely cured
quickly. To promote sale of these traditional medicines, shops are being opened by Maharashtra
Government and a tie-up with Patanjali is also expected.
 People in developed world, being more pro-active, are realizing the harmful side-effects of modern
medicine, and looking for alternate medicine. This could be our big opportunity.
 India has a lot of knowledge on traditional medicine which are based on natural herbs & plants with
little or no side effects.
Forest Produce
 To give a boost to bamboo cultivation, the goverment has through an ordinance omitted bamboo
grown in non-forest areas from the definition of trees, allowing it’s felling and transportation without
requirement of permits. Bamboo grown in nearby Gadchiroli district can be used to make incense
sticks & furniture.

 Vidarbha region has 1/3rd of the state's cotton production at 6.2 Million MTPA.
 Indorama Synthetics, India's 2nd largest polyester manufacturer is located at Butibori in Nagpur.
Morarjee Mills which manufactures & exports some of the best cotton fabric in the country is located
here.
 There are several Cotton ginning & spinning plants and process houses in the region. RSR Mohota
Mills, Gimatex, PeeVee textiles are among the large players. Neighbouring Amravati district is
becoming a major center for textiles with several new plants being set up.
 Indigo Denim manufactures jeans at Butibori. Raymond has plants in neighbouring Yavatmal &
Chhindwara and Amravati Dist.
 Garment manufacturing factories can be setup in association with leading designers of the country.
I T & E l e c t r o n i c s
• IT which was a major thrust area for Nagpur is finally taking shape. Environment is now conducive
for Nagpuri diaspora to return back to the city.
• TCS was the 1st among India’s top IT companies to start operations in 2014.
• TechMahindra was next to start in Nagpur in 2016. They are focused more on value added
services.
• HCL opened it’s software development center in MIHAN this month. They have a unique strategy
of going to tier II cities and employing only local people. This helps them get people at a lower
cost and lowering the attrition rate.
• Infosys has completed construction of it’s software development center.
• In electronics, the World’s first completely vertically integrated Gen 8.5 LCD fab & glass
manufacturing facility is to come up at New Additional MIDC Butibori with an initial investment of
INR 16,000 crore by LG in JV with Vedanta group.

• Several companies from France have invested in Nagpur Smart City project and in Nagpur Metro
Rail project. Korea Land & Housing Corporation has signed an MOU with Nagpur Municipal
Corporation for Smart City project of Nagpur.
• Nagpur & Jinan have signed a friendship city agreement. The two cities will carry out co-
operation in infrastructure & IT sectors and youth & cultural exchanges. Jinan is a hub for
production of medical equipment & for IT. Exchanges in trade & economy, education, sports,
science & technology, personnel and health will be carried out.
• Nagpur has been chosen as the first city in India under Equi-City to be funded by European
Union. It has been identified as one of the best cities in India in terms of livability, greenery,
healthcare, public transport etc.
• There are opportunities for Nagpur & California in developing relations between universities and
healthcare services of the two cities says Bill Boerum, Chairman of Sister Cities International USA.
• Chinese delegation which visited much earlier felt MIHAN is an ideal location, their focus sectors
being residential, commercial, manufacturing of quality furniture, interiors and LED lights.
Delegations of Germany, France, China, Britain, Japan, South Kore, Switzerland have visited
Nagpur to explore opportunities in business, trade and civic partnerships.

 Logistics Park India is among the early players to create a logistics park in Nagpur. Amazon has it’s
warehouse at MIHAN spread over 5 lakh sq ft. John Deree has taken warehousing of about 2 Lakh
sq feet in Nagpur & catering to requirement of tractor parts in India & other countries from here.
Maruti has setup it’s stock yard at Butibori which takes care of it’s requirements in this region.
 In 2010 Future Group shut 18 warehouses which handled logistics for its apparel biz and
consolidated them into one big warehouse at Nagpur. It’s warehouse at Nagpur initially had
capacity to handle 100 million pieces p.a. The company invested INR 80 crore in a single sortation
unit which can sort 35 crore garments at once.
 CONCOR operates it’s ICD which is located in the city. Distribution Logistics Infrastructure at Borkedi
provides inter modal logistics services for export, import cargo and containers from their own ICD.
 A Dry port being made by JNPT at Wardha near Nagpur. This will help imports & exporters. It will
give a fillip to Orange, Fruit and vegetable export from the region. Cold storage, warehousing,
stuffing- destuffing to be provided here. Khapri being made into a multi modal logistics hub. Totally
six logistic areas being developed in Nagpur.

• Multimodal International Cargo Hub & Airport (MIHAN) is an ambitious project planned to utilize
the locational advantage of Nagpur for Cargo hubbing.
• This SEZ encourages IT companies to setup shop and has estimated that it will generate INR 400
Billion in annual revenues and provide employment to more than 1,20,000 people.
• Opportunities in MIHAN include Logistics, Manufacturing, Processing, Infrastructure, Services, IT
Park, Health City, Pharma, Hospitality and Tourism.
• It could be ideal location for high-tech manufacturing plants like IT Hardware, Electronics, Mobile
& PC manufacturing & assembly, for which India is among the largest importers in the world.

• Air India MRO, TAL Manufacturing Solutions, Amazon, Future Supply Chain, Patanjali are among the
main companies.
• IT companies have invested in the SEZ, TCS, Tech Mahindra, HCL, Infosys, Global Logic and
Infocepts are the major players. Persistent systems is located in the city.
• Patanjali is to start it’s 800 MT per day Orange juice plant by Mar 2018.
• Reliance Dassault JV to start making components for Falcons & Rafale, phase I to start in Feb 2018.
• CANECUS SSSC has taken 50 acres of land at MIHAN SEZ to assemble nano, pico and micro
satellites at an investment of Rs 150 crores.
• Lupin which manufactures cardiac and other related drugs, plans to setup a biotech unit here to
make enzymes, which will be a major unit making biotech products for exports. US based Awesome
products is to invest INR 300 crores in MIHAN to make OTC products in phama.

• Vidarbha region has 13 medical colleges providing 3,000 new doctors every year. As per CII-Institute
for Competitiveness, Nagpur ranks 5th among 37 cities in health support infrastructure. Nagpur has
doctors of global standards. The city already attracts a large number of people from various parts of
central India for medical work.
• CIIMS provides treatment in Neurology for which people come from distant areas. National Cancer
Institute is setting up a 470 bedded hospital at Nagpur. AIIMS is setting up state-of- the-art facility
which will have 960 beds.
• IUIH Medicity is being built in association with Kings Collge Hospital London. Phase-1 with a 250
bed hospital is expected to be ready in the year 2019. Nagpur is expected to be the logistics hub for
all 11 medicities and become their manufacturing site for medical equipments & pharmaceuticals. It
will eventually have a 1,000 bed NHS standard hospital, a nursing college, medical college, PG
college, a hotel, wellness center etc and helipad facility for air-ambulance.
• There is opportunity for setting up hospitals in various specializations in JV with some of the best
Hospitals globally.

• About 10 million people migrate to cities every year. About 35% of the population in India is young,
in the 15-35 years age group. Growing population, rise of nuclear families, rising standard of living,
growing aspirations, easy availability of bank finance, stable economic growth contributing to
steadily increasing demand.
• Urban population currently 32.7% is expected to rise to 40% by 2030. Residential sector contributes
to 80% of the realty sector. Huge demand in affordable and medium price range of properties. 20
million urban & 40 million rural houses need to be built under housing for all scheme. Realty is the
4th largest sector in FDI inflows.
• Conducive Government Policy. 100% FDI is permitted for townships & settlements development
projects.
• Government plans to build 100 Smart Cities to control migration of people to larger cities.

properties in the city.
• Singapore government is said to be interested in making residential smart township in Nagpur.

mid-priced and high end residences.
• Township catering to the needs of the Senior Citizens due to families becoming nuclear. Malls
offering affordable brands, Food and Entertainment. Clubs offering leisure, sports and recreation.
• Another opportunity lies in developing plots of land with good surroundings offered as investment
which people like to buy as financial security.

• Vidarbha region has 2/3rd of the forest of the state with wildlife, natural beauty of lakes and
waterfall which attracts tourists from all over the world.
• Wildlife parks of Pench, Kanha, Tadoba, Nagzira, Navegaon and Melghat are located nearby. Nagpur
is the Tiger Capital of India due to its close proximity to wildlife parks having large population of
tigers and leopards. New entry points to the jungles are being opened from time to time to allow a
large number of tourists coming from all over the world.
• An international standard Gorewarda zoo is being built which will be a major tourist attraction for
people of central India and for those visiting the national parks for tiger tourism. Indian Safari and
an African Safari are also being made.
• A sea plane service from Nagpur to Tadoba tiger reserve is to start service.
• Nagpur has one of the most prominent & sacred monuments of Buddhism- Deeksha Bhoomi.

  • 2. O v e r v i e w o f N a g p u r  Nagpur with a population of around 2.5 million is the 13th largest urban conglomeration in India and 114th largest city in world. It is the second capital of Maharashtra. It is a clean & green city providing quality life at reasonable costs, cosmopolitan culture, excellent education, quality healthcare, good law and order situation and excellent civic infrastructure.  It is a city safe from possibilities of natural disasters, it falls under the safest earthquake zone II, lies outside flood related zones, there are no active volcanic zones, and it is more than 1000 kms away from nearest sea coast with no risk of Hurricanes and Tsunamis.  Over 200 domestic and 300 international flights fly over Nagpur every day. It has a strategic place on international aviation routes for cargo hubbing.  It is situated at cross-roads of India's North-South and East-West routes by road, rail and air, has all- weather international airport. Over 7000 trucks, 120-140 passenger trains and about 80-100 freight trains cross Nagpur every day.  Nagpur is a large trading center for a number of commodities and services. Butibori Industrial area situated 15 kms from the Airport is the largest in Asia in terms of area.
  • 3. O v e r v i e w o f N a g p u r • A metro rail is being constructed for smooth intra-city commute, South Nagpur (Khapri) route will be operational in 2018 & all routes by 2019. In Phase 2 metro rail is to be expanded to Butibori, Hingna, Kanhan and London street to Amravati road. • A 706 Kms Samruddhi Expressway is in process of being constructed with South Korean participation from Nagpur to Mumbai. It will boost bring down travel time to Mumbai to just 8 hours. It will attract agro-based industries and globally competitive manufacturing units to Vidarbha & Marathwada. • MIHAN International Airport is to be made. There will be flights operating to various destinations all over the world from here. From an Orange city to the Tiger Capital to a globalizing city, Nagpur is seeing infrastructure like never before, thanks to extremely strong political will to bring it at par with other world cities. • State & local government policy is focused towards bringing ease of doing business both for industry and real estate sectors. Building plan approvals, conversion of land use, permissions for industry are being made easier & faster.
  • 4. O v e r v i e w o f V i d a r b h a  Vidarbha has 48.7% of the installed thermal power generation of Maharashtra due to availability of Coal.  It has 80% of the mineral wealth of Maharashtra and is rich in Coal, Limestone, Manganese and Iron ore.  Major industries in Vidarbha are Power, Synthetic Yarn, Cement, Steel, Engineering, Transmission Tower, Agro & Food Processing.
  • 5. L o c a t i o n
  • 6. Agro , Animal husbandry • Major crops in Vidarbha region are Cotton, Oranges (largest in Maharashtra), and Soyabean. • Other crops include Bamboo, Sorghum, Flax Seed, Pulses, Rice, Wheat, Cotton, Red Chillies, Turmeric, Garlic, Ginger, Vegetables and Flowers. • Fruits include Sweet Lime, Papaya, Berries, Banana and Custard Apple. Nagpur is a hub of betel nut business in India. • There are several opportunities in agro-processing, farm-to-fork and animal husbandry. • Cow & Goat products have high medicinal value and are profitable business.
  • 7. A g r o & F o o d P r o c e s s i n g • Prominent companies in food sector include Haldiram, Dinshaws, Ruchi Soya, Ankur Seeds, Suruchi (spices) and ADM Agro. • Fragrance & Flavour development centre is to come up at Nagpur. • Patanjali's 800 TPD Orange juice plant to start operations by Mar 2018. Their food park at MIHAN will be the biggest in South Asia. It is investing another INR 2,000 crores in neighboring Wardha district. • Another Orange processing plant, a JV of Jain Irrigation & Coca Cola, is coming up at Morshi in neighboring Amravati district. • Nestle is setting up milk processing plant in neighboring Bhandara dist. Mother dairy is to set up a INR 400 crore plant to raise milk production in Vidarbha.
  • 8. A u t o m o b i l e  According to industry experts, the world’s top three car markets will be China, US, India. India can be a big base for exports of parts. We need better FTA with UK, ASEAN and Europe. Countries like Middle east, Africa, Australia can be catered to.  Currently the entire auto industry in India is located at Gurgaon, Pune and Chennai. According to the people in the know, there can be a 30-40% savings if an auto-cluster comes up near Nagpur as products related to casting, electrical, fabrication, injection molding and forging can come to this auto component cluster.  There is opportunity to manufacture electric commercial vehicles, cars & two wheelers. Vidarbha is surrounded by 3 states and the production can be marketed at minimum cost.
  • 9. A u t o m o b i l e C o s  Nagpur has a manufacturing facility of the world's biggest tractor manufacturer Mahindra.  Ashok Leyland, one of the leading commercial vehicle manufacturer has a plant at Bhandara near Nagpur.  Ceat Tyres has setup a plant at MIHAN which after expansion will make 1 Lakh tyres/day making it biggest single location tyre manufacturing facility in India.  Exide is to set up a battery plant at Butibori.
  • 10. A v i a t i o n  Nagpur is the center of India and also central location between South Africa and North East Asia, Russia and South East Asia, Europe and South East Asia, Europe and Australia. It is a suitable location for international air cargo hubbing. On the domestic front Nagpur has the best location in India from the point of view of sustaining domestic hubbing and can act as a hub for all North, South, East, West traffic in India.  Nagpur is also an ideal location for manufacturing of defense aircrafts & space parts of aircrafts in which Russian government is interested in investing in India. Russia is interested in making investments in defense, aerospace, logistics and warehousing at MIHAN area in Nagpur.  The Indian Aerospace & Defense sector offers huge opportunities for private companies across the supply chain. There are opportunities in indigenization & outsourcing in manufacturing, reclamation of aircraft and aero-engine parts for the airforce.  Nagpur is geographically very well located, air traffic utilization can easily bring the city on international map. says Clare Petrich, Board Member, Greater Seattle Trade Development Alliance & Board of Directors (Commission) of the Port of Tacoma.
  • 11. A v i a t i o n C o s  Boeing has setup a MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility for Air India, which is said to be one of the most modern in the subcontinent. It will service aircraft such as B-737, B-777 and the Dreamliner. It is expected to service 85 aircrafts every year.  TAL makes floor beams for Boeing & Airbus at MIHAN in Nagpur. TAL is the only facility outside US suppling ACFB (advanced composite floor beams) for Boeing’s Dreamliners 787-9 & 787-10. ACFB’s are being exported to Boeing partners in US, Japan and Italy.  Dassault Reliance Aerostructure is setting up facility in MIHAN to make components connected to purchase of Rafale aircraft from France. It will have assembly lines & manufacturing facilities for fixed wing aircraft. It will also make components for Falcon 2000 civil jets of Dassault and become part of it’s global supply chain. Production of phase 1 is expect in Feb 2018.  A JV of SAB & Adani is likely to choose Nagpur for their venture.
  • 12. D e f e n s e • India is one of the world’s largest importers of defense equipment. • To reduce dependence on imports, the Government has opened this sector to the private investment to manufacture the items in India. • There are Ordinance Factories in Nagpur and Bhandara, creating potential for manufacturing several items for them. • Solar Industries, India’s largest manufacturer of Industrial explosives and Explosive initiating systems is setting up an ammunition plant with an investment of Rs 1550 crores to manufacture ammunition for the Armed Forces.
  • 13. E du ca t io n Hu b P ot en t ia l • Nagpur is fast becoming an education hub thereby making available a pool of qualified people at reasonable costs for the IT, services and manufacturing sectors. • Vidarbha region has 27 Engineering Colleges churning out 8700 graduates yearly. Nagpur has renowned institutions like VNIT and LIT. • AIIMS, IIM, IIIT, NIPER, Maharashtra National Law Univesity, Simbiosys University, Sanskrit University are being setup in Nagpur. • Industrial Robotics (PG Diploma) course has been started in partnership with ABB, Nagpur has potential to be centre of Robotics. • Opportunities abound for setting up world class education facilities in JV with some of the best universities.
  • 14. F o r e s t P r o d u c e Forest Medicine  As per news reports, Tribals are not seen dying of a heart attack, nor seen suffering from diabetes or blood pressure. If they get injured, they use leaves of some trees and they are completely cured quickly. To promote sale of these traditional medicines, shops are being opened by Maharashtra Government and a tie-up with Patanjali is also expected.  People in developed world, being more pro-active, are realizing the harmful side-effects of modern medicine, and looking for alternate medicine. This could be our big opportunity.  India has a lot of knowledge on traditional medicine which are based on natural herbs & plants with little or no side effects. Forest Produce  To give a boost to bamboo cultivation, the goverment has through an ordinance omitted bamboo grown in non-forest areas from the definition of trees, allowing it’s felling and transportation without requirement of permits. Bamboo grown in nearby Gadchiroli district can be used to make incense sticks & furniture.
  • 15. G a r m e n t s & T e x t i l e  Vidarbha region has 1/3rd of the state's cotton production at 6.2 Million MTPA.  Indorama Synthetics, India's 2nd largest polyester manufacturer is located at Butibori in Nagpur. Morarjee Mills which manufactures & exports some of the best cotton fabric in the country is located here.  There are several Cotton ginning & spinning plants and process houses in the region. RSR Mohota Mills, Gimatex, PeeVee textiles are among the large players. Neighbouring Amravati district is becoming a major center for textiles with several new plants being set up.  Indigo Denim manufactures jeans at Butibori. Raymond has plants in neighbouring Yavatmal & Chhindwara and Amravati Dist.  Garment manufacturing factories can be setup in association with leading designers of the country.
  • 16. I T & E l e c t r o n i c s • IT which was a major thrust area for Nagpur is finally taking shape. Environment is now conducive for Nagpuri diaspora to return back to the city. • TCS was the 1st among India’s top IT companies to start operations in 2014. • TechMahindra was next to start in Nagpur in 2016. They are focused more on value added services. • HCL opened it’s software development center in MIHAN this month. They have a unique strategy of going to tier II cities and employing only local people. This helps them get people at a lower cost and lowering the attrition rate. • Infosys has completed construction of it’s software development center. • In electronics, the World’s first completely vertically integrated Gen 8.5 LCD fab & glass manufacturing facility is to come up at New Additional MIDC Butibori with an initial investment of INR 16,000 crore by LG in JV with Vedanta group.
  • 17. I n t e r n a t i o n a l C o - o p e r a t i o n • Several companies from France have invested in Nagpur Smart City project and in Nagpur Metro Rail project. Korea Land & Housing Corporation has signed an MOU with Nagpur Municipal Corporation for Smart City project of Nagpur. • Nagpur & Jinan have signed a friendship city agreement. The two cities will carry out co- operation in infrastructure & IT sectors and youth & cultural exchanges. Jinan is a hub for production of medical equipment & for IT. Exchanges in trade & economy, education, sports, science & technology, personnel and health will be carried out. • Nagpur has been chosen as the first city in India under Equi-City to be funded by European Union. It has been identified as one of the best cities in India in terms of livability, greenery, healthcare, public transport etc. • There are opportunities for Nagpur & California in developing relations between universities and healthcare services of the two cities says Bill Boerum, Chairman of Sister Cities International USA. • Chinese delegation which visited much earlier felt MIHAN is an ideal location, their focus sectors being residential, commercial, manufacturing of quality furniture, interiors and LED lights. Delegations of Germany, France, China, Britain, Japan, South Kore, Switzerland have visited Nagpur to explore opportunities in business, trade and civic partnerships.
  • 18. L o g i s t i c s  Logistics Park India is among the early players to create a logistics park in Nagpur. Amazon has it’s warehouse at MIHAN spread over 5 lakh sq ft. John Deree has taken warehousing of about 2 Lakh sq feet in Nagpur & catering to requirement of tractor parts in India & other countries from here. Maruti has setup it’s stock yard at Butibori which takes care of it’s requirements in this region.  In 2010 Future Group shut 18 warehouses which handled logistics for its apparel biz and consolidated them into one big warehouse at Nagpur. It’s warehouse at Nagpur initially had capacity to handle 100 million pieces p.a. The company invested INR 80 crore in a single sortation unit which can sort 35 crore garments at once.  CONCOR operates it’s ICD which is located in the city. Distribution Logistics Infrastructure at Borkedi provides inter modal logistics services for export, import cargo and containers from their own ICD.  A Dry port being made by JNPT at Wardha near Nagpur. This will help imports & exporters. It will give a fillip to Orange, Fruit and vegetable export from the region. Cold storage, warehousing, stuffing- destuffing to be provided here. Khapri being made into a multi modal logistics hub. Totally six logistic areas being developed in Nagpur.
  • 19. M I H A N • Multimodal International Cargo Hub & Airport (MIHAN) is an ambitious project planned to utilize the locational advantage of Nagpur for Cargo hubbing. • This SEZ encourages IT companies to setup shop and has estimated that it will generate INR 400 Billion in annual revenues and provide employment to more than 1,20,000 people. • Opportunities in MIHAN include Logistics, Manufacturing, Processing, Infrastructure, Services, IT Park, Health City, Pharma, Hospitality and Tourism. • It could be ideal location for high-tech manufacturing plants like IT Hardware, Electronics, Mobile & PC manufacturing & assembly, for which India is among the largest importers in the world.
  • 20. M IHA N I nd us t r i es • Air India MRO, TAL Manufacturing Solutions, Amazon, Future Supply Chain, Patanjali are among the main companies. • IT companies have invested in the SEZ, TCS, Tech Mahindra, HCL, Infosys, Global Logic and Infocepts are the major players. Persistent systems is located in the city. • Patanjali is to start it’s 800 MT per day Orange juice plant by Mar 2018. • Reliance Dassault JV to start making components for Falcons & Rafale, phase I to start in Feb 2018. • CANECUS SSSC has taken 50 acres of land at MIHAN SEZ to assemble nano, pico and micro satellites at an investment of Rs 150 crores. • Lupin which manufactures cardiac and other related drugs, plans to setup a biotech unit here to make enzymes, which will be a major unit making biotech products for exports. US based Awesome products is to invest INR 300 crores in MIHAN to make OTC products in phama.
  • 21. M e d i c a l T o u r i s m • Vidarbha region has 13 medical colleges providing 3,000 new doctors every year. As per CII-Institute for Competitiveness, Nagpur ranks 5th among 37 cities in health support infrastructure. Nagpur has doctors of global standards. The city already attracts a large number of people from various parts of central India for medical work. • CIIMS provides treatment in Neurology for which people come from distant areas. National Cancer Institute is setting up a 470 bedded hospital at Nagpur. AIIMS is setting up state-of- the-art facility which will have 960 beds. • IUIH Medicity is being built in association with Kings Collge Hospital London. Phase-1 with a 250 bed hospital is expected to be ready in the year 2019. Nagpur is expected to be the logistics hub for all 11 medicities and become their manufacturing site for medical equipments & pharmaceuticals. It will eventually have a 1,000 bed NHS standard hospital, a nursing college, medical college, PG college, a hotel, wellness center etc and helipad facility for air-ambulance. • There is opportunity for setting up hospitals in various specializations in JV with some of the best Hospitals globally.
  • 22. R e a l t y S e c t o r O v e r v i e w • About 10 million people migrate to cities every year. About 35% of the population in India is young, in the 15-35 years age group. Growing population, rise of nuclear families, rising standard of living, growing aspirations, easy availability of bank finance, stable economic growth contributing to steadily increasing demand. • Urban population currently 32.7% is expected to rise to 40% by 2030. Residential sector contributes to 80% of the realty sector. Huge demand in affordable and medium price range of properties. 20 million urban & 40 million rural houses need to be built under housing for all scheme. Realty is the 4th largest sector in FDI inflows. • Conducive Government Policy. 100% FDI is permitted for townships & settlements development projects. • Government plans to build 100 Smart Cities to control migration of people to larger cities.
  • 23. R e a l E s t a t e O p p o r t u n i t i e s • Prominent developers like Godrej Properties, Mahindra Lifespaces, Tata Realty have built residential properties in the city. • Singapore government is said to be interested in making residential smart township in Nagpur. • Opportunities include secured gated townships with beautiful surroundings offering affordable, mid-priced and high end residences. • Township catering to the needs of the Senior Citizens due to families becoming nuclear. Malls offering affordable brands, Food and Entertainment. Clubs offering leisure, sports and recreation. • Another opportunity lies in developing plots of land with good surroundings offered as investment which people like to buy as financial security.
  • 24. T i g e r C a p i t a l & T o u r i s m • Vidarbha region has 2/3rd of the forest of the state with wildlife, natural beauty of lakes and waterfall which attracts tourists from all over the world. • Wildlife parks of Pench, Kanha, Tadoba, Nagzira, Navegaon and Melghat are located nearby. Nagpur is the Tiger Capital of India due to its close proximity to wildlife parks having large population of tigers and leopards. New entry points to the jungles are being opened from time to time to allow a large number of tourists coming from all over the world. • An international standard Gorewarda zoo is being built which will be a major tourist attraction for people of central India and for those visiting the national parks for tiger tourism. Indian Safari and an African Safari are also being made. • A sea plane service from Nagpur to Tadoba tiger reserve is to start service. • Nagpur has one of the most prominent & sacred monuments of Buddhism- Deeksha Bhoomi.
  • 25.
