What is global warming?
• Global warming refers to the increase
in the average temperature of Earths’
surface.
• Over the last century global average
temperature has increased up to 10F.
Greenhouse gases
• Carbon dioxide
• Methane
• Water vapor
• Ozone
• Nitrous oxide
Greenhouse effect,
o Global warming occurs when carbon
dioxide, other air pollutants and
greenhouse gases which are collected
in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight
and solar radiation.
o Normally, this radiation would escape
into the space. But these pollutants,
which can last for years to centuries in
the atmosphere, trap the heat and
cause the planet to get hotter. This
effect is known as greenhouse effect.
Causes of global warming
Industrialization
Deforestation
Emission of greenhouse gases
Human activities
Effects of global warming
• Rise in temperature
• Changes in weather patterns
• Rise of sea levels
• Spread of diseases
• Decrease in human population
• Loss of natural habitats
• Threat to the ecosystem
How to prevent
• Reduce the amount of fossil fuel burnt
• Use renewable energies
• Use fuel efficient vehicles
• Use of efficient devices
• Sustainable agricultural and forest management
Conclusion
• Increasing of the concentration
of greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere, we’re amplifying
the planets’ natural greenhouse
effect and turning up the global
warming. Therefore we must
make people aware about the
bad effects of global warming
and try to minimize this hazard.
