Globally oranisations are increasingly finding out that,
traditional learning departments are often inefficient and
expensive.
Research shows that only about one third of the total
training spent goes into actual learning delivery, the rest is
often spent on administrative and other indirect costs.
Initially organisations adopted web based learning because
of its cost effectiveness & efficiency. However over time
these companies realized that eLearning is not only more
efficient, it make learning outcome more effective.
Learners can now complete the training at their own time,
pace & place.

which the ‘20’ proportion of learning
comes by interacting with others. This
includes activities such as feedback,
coaching and mentoring.

  • 4. Globally oranisations are increasingly finding out that, traditional learning departments are often inefficient and expensive. Research shows that only about one third of the total training spent goes into actual learning delivery, the rest is often spent on administrative and other indirect costs. Initially organisations adopted web based learning because of its cost effectiveness & efficiency. However over time these companies realized that eLearning is not only more efficient, it make learning outcome more effective. Learners can now complete the training at their own time, pace & place.
  • 6. Outward collaboration: In today’s world organizations succeed through collaboration. This calls for a networked approach. L&D professionals face a challenge of developing a new generation of leaders to work in a collaborative manner. 1
  • 7. Multi-generational learning: Development programs are now aimed at a diverse set of population varying from graduates, middle managers to executives. By bringing together participants from all levels and generations, organizations are able to create more value out of their programs than ever. 2
  • 8. Global market, local talent: All global organizations are essentially polycentric having all their functions, including L&D, distributed to gain advantage from all available efficiencies and resources. 3
  • 9. Slow Learning: Today clients demand critical thinking, review and evaluation to be part of the solution provided to them rather than providing a mere fast service. The environment favors learning from situations, engaging in real-time experiences and thus truly benefit from learning. 4
  • 10. Creating Relationships: Clients want to build relationships with organizations rather than having a mere transaction. Companies encourage people to experiment, fail, improve and succeed in their endeavors. 5
  • 11. Integrating Technology: Companies are investing in technology-oriented methods influenced by the easy and interactive learning environment available. L&D professionals seek to improve their integration of a diverse set of learning technologies available. 6
  • 12. Leaning From Others: Mentoring is now based on the 70:20:10 learning model according to which the ‘20’ proportion of learning comes by interacting with others. This includes activities such as feedback, coaching and mentoring. 7
  • 13. Learning Mapping: Companies today are focused on delivering solutions right the first time which helps in saving time and money. This is achieved by using learning mapping process which helps in establishing a logical thread with clear objectives. 8
  • 14. Getting Personal: Learning programs are now tailored according to individual preferences and needs rather than following a one-size- fits-all approach. 9
