magazine,
Fresno
State
Focus,
will
host
the
3
rd
Annual
Global
News
Relay
on
Friday,
March
18,
from
9
a.m.
to
2
p.m.
PST.
The
event
will
be
broadcast
live
via
CMAC
(cmac.tv)
from
Studio
A
in
the
Speech
Arts
building
on
campus.
Fresno
State
students
will
anchor
the
newscast
with
each
university
providing
a
20-‐minute
segment.
The
Global
News
Relay
is
a
collaborative
project
connecting
journalism
students
internationally
to
bring
attention
to
important
events
and
issues.
Students
from
14
universities
around
the
world
have
joined
together
for
the
2016
Global
News
Relay.
A
list

participating
universities
is
found
on
the
event’s
Facebook
page.
This
year’s
theme
is
“Sports
in
Our
Community,”
an
in
depth
look
at
cultural
influences
that
affect
participation
in
sports.
Fresno
State
students
will
report
on
the
people
behind
youth
soccer,
wheelchair
tennis,
BMX
racing
and
more.
Other
universities
in
the
U.S.,
Great
Britain,
Bulgaria,
Lebanon,
United
Arab
Emirates,
Australia
and
Indonesia
are
covering
stories
that
range
from
Jedi
exercise
class
and
soapy
football
to
a
more
serious
look
at
ethnic
minority
representation
in
sports
as
well
as
childhood
obesity.
“Global
News
Relay
is
not
just
about
our
community,”
said
Fabiola
Ramirez,
student
coordinator
for
the
project.
"It's
a
connect
to
other
communities
-‐
for
them
to
learn
from
us,
and
for
us
to
learn
from
them."
Founded
in
2014,
the
Global
News
Relay
was
hosted
by
the
University
of
Salford
and
focused
on
poverty.

GLOBAL
NEWS
RELAY:
Global
News
Relay
is
an
international
collaboration
of
college
journalism
students
who
produce
themed
content
that
is
broadcast
and
streamed
online.
The
project
began
in
2014
under
the
direction
of
Prof.
Sarah
Jones
at
the
University
of
Salford
in
Manchester,
England.
Now
in
its
third
run,
Global
News
Relay
2. has
collaborated
with
more
than
20
universities
and
10
countries
while
covering
the
latest
in
news,
sports
and
entertainment.
