• Glaucoma is a condition in which the fluid pressure that is present
within our eyes, rises to a greater extent.
• One may see halos and glares around the lights, or may face a
sudden vision loss, or experience a severe headache and pain in
eyes while suffering from glaucoma.
Causes of Glaucoma :
• In case of primary Glaucoma, the causes are very much unknown.
• In the case of secondary Glaucoma, the known causes are a
tumor,poorly controlled diabetes, an advanced cataract, high blood
pressure, serious eye injurious, eye inflammations or other diseases
that can lead to Glaucoma in some patients.
• If you are suspected of suffering from glaucoma, we are contracted
by the NHS to carry out glaucoma test tests to ascertain whether or
not you need to be referred to hospital.
• Funded by the NHS, you may be referred to us for this service from
other opticians.
Common symptoms of glaucoma :
• Nausea and vomiting
• Severe pain in the eyes
• Sudden and awkward vision disturbances
• Redness of the eyes
• Frequent and sudden blurred visions
