This document provides an introduction and framework for a study about the contributions of former New People's Army (NPA) members to peacebuilding efforts in the Philippines. The study aims to describe how ex-NPA members have positively contributed to community development after transitioning away from armed struggle. It outlines the problem statement, theoretical framework drawing from theories of conversion, social control, psychoanalysis, and motivation. The document discusses the qualitative research design using narrative inquiry through semi-structured interviews with former rebels who have transitioned to community service roles.
