Oman produces more than a 2, 50,000 tons
dates per annum, but still, it is ranked 8th
in the world in terms of date productions.
They wanted to transform the way they
approach their cultivation process and
introduce agility to the production and
increase productivity, optimize utilization of
resources and quality of dates. The
Sultanate of Oman has initiated a million-
date tree plantation and integrated every
one of them with GIS and Artificial
Intelligence.
SOLUTIONS
• Using GIS based survey which consisted of
attributes which were essential in the
production and quality of the date trees, we
captured GPS location of every tree and
marked them with allocated Digital codes and
geo-tagging them.
• Details of the farm, cultivator, tree code and
number were compiled. Details of number of
fronds, their average length, and average
girth of the trunk were also captured and
stored. Each tree had a unique number and
was photographed.
• All the data was then stored in a cloud-based
Farm ERP system which was integrated with
the GIS system.
• From Pesticides, water level to temperature
all Data was maintained into ERP as each
date tree were given different level of inputs
to measure and find the right combination .
The dates who quality was category as premium,
their parameters were captured and new
plantation which was planned using GIS was
done using above parameters and monitored.RESULTS

reduced water wastage by 30%.

insights on tree requirements with
respect to water, fertilizer and

INTRODUCTION
Rooftop solar photovoltaic (SPV) systems,
especially in Indian solar cities, there is a
need for a tool to showcase solar resource
potential in a user-friendly format so that
users can investigate their locations of
interest and perform pre-processed
analysis. GIS is the obvious tool to achieve
this because it provides a visual reference –
a map of the entire city showing the
buildings that have solar PV installation
potential. An important part of every web-
based GIS tool is its mapping or,
visualization technology, which makes it
possible to show data in maps.
SOLUTIONS
• We developed a first of its kind Cloud
based open source web GIS solution to
calculate potential solar radiation on
rooftops of buildings . Mapping the
rooftops and integrating it with NREL data
for solar radiation. This consisted of
rooftop area, height, surrounding, etc.
and would calculate solar potential based
on 8 solar parameters and also share
estimation on solar potential of the POI.
We estimated the potential for rooftop
solar energy generation by conducting a
geo-spatial survey of more than 40,000
buildings as well as a solar radiation
survey of more than 10,000 buildings
using solar meter.

Satellite image based spectral analysis of

conducted for different projects to

resolution satellite images we are able to

• For this Web-GIS application, through temporal
analysis application, we have identified &
tracked changes from the satellite images year
wise, starting from the year 2008 to the year
2016, so that we can identify changes over the
years & visualize spatial-temporal data.
• Through ‘Swipetool’ we can simultaneously
compare data of two different years in the Web
browser.
• We did Stitching, Mosaicking and removing
inherent errors in the process, to provide
relatively high accuracy on the ground on a
yearly basis from 2008 to 2016

According to the FAO, the growth rates of global
agricultural production and crop yields have slowed
in the last couple of years, raising fears that the
world may not be able to grow enough food and
other commodities to ensure that future
populations are adequately fed. Considering
climate change as an important factor in world farm
production, the growth rates of global output may
further be endangered by failure of rains and
occurrence of natural disasters such as floods and
droughts leading to crop failures, food insecurity,
famine and mass migration together with negative

The insurance company used drone generated
NDVI map to have an overview of the hail
damage in corn. This was a pilot project designed
for improving their agriculture risk assessment
process. They needed a solution for field
inspection, data sharing, and collaboration
between the parties involved in an insurance
claim case.
Insurance company consultants and analysts can
use NDVI data to determine the intensity of crop
fields damage by analyzing NDVI pixel intervals
using the NDVI map (with a scale range from -1
to +1). Inanimate or dead material (roads,
buildings, soil or dead plants) is displayed in red,
while plants are displayed in green, making the
hail damaged area easily visible on a map. This
analysis helps to generate parameters for
insurance claim assessments.
After finishing the scouting process, consisted of
observing the mapping data combined with the
field sample inspection, insurance provider
needed to verify survey data and create a
damage assessment.
When the preliminary assessment phase was
finished, insurance provider needed to share the
data with interested sides, in this case, farmer
whose crops were damaged and the Agricultural
Development Authority providing one-time
support to the farmers in the case of hail.
RESULTS
The product is a great decision-making tool,

The Sultanate of Oman has initiated a million- date tree plantation and integrated every one of them with GIS and Artificial Intelligence. SOLUTIONS • Using GIS based survey which consisted of attributes which were essential in the production and quality of the date trees, we captured GPS location of every tree and marked them with allocated Digital codes and geo-tagging them. • Details of the farm, cultivator, tree code and number were compiled. Details of number of fronds, their average length, and average girth of the trunk were also captured and stored. Each tree had a unique number and was photographed. • All the data was then stored in a cloud-based Farm ERP system which was integrated with the GIS system. • From Pesticides, water level to temperature all Data was maintained into ERP as each date tree were given different level of inputs to measure and find the right combination . GIS is the obvious tool to achieve this because it provides a visual reference – a map of the entire city showing the buildings that have solar PV installation potential. An important part of every web- based GIS tool is its mapping or, visualization technology, which makes it possible to show data in maps. SOLUTIONS • We developed a first of its kind Cloud based open source web GIS solution to calculate potential solar radiation on rooftops of buildings . Mapping the rooftops and integrating it with NREL data for solar radiation. This consisted of rooftop area, height, surrounding, etc. and would calculate solar potential based on 8 solar parameters and also share estimation on solar potential of the POI. We estimated the potential for rooftop solar energy generation by conducting a geo-spatial survey of more than 40,000 buildings as well as a solar radiation survey of more than 10,000 buildings using solar meter. • The process involved assigning attributes which were required to reach the desired objective. The analysis of the data and Results were then presented on the application for the user. While complainants are assured anonymity, their grievances are passed on to field officials for action. SOLUTIONS • The solution involves the setup of voice support system which is integrated with a vehicle tracking system and GIS. • Deployed end to end system with a voice support system at a call center where grievances were noted and action was taken on real time. • VTS devices were installed in vehicles to have real-time locations and take action. • A 24x7 Control Center with Live Vehicle Tracking, Call Center and Grievance Response System was installed • A mobile application was developed to have notification of the action taken on the ground which was sent to the database. SOLUTIONS The insurance company used drone generated NDVI map to have an overview of the hail damage in corn. This was a pilot project designed for improving their agriculture risk assessment process. They needed a solution for field inspection, data sharing, and collaboration between the parties involved in an insurance claim case. Insurance company consultants and analysts can use NDVI data to determine the intensity of crop fields damage by analyzing NDVI pixel intervals using the NDVI map (with a scale range from -1 to +1). Inanimate or dead material (roads, buildings, soil or dead plants) is displayed in red, while plants are displayed in green, making the hail damaged area easily visible on a map. This analysis helps to generate parameters for insurance claim assessments. After finishing the scouting process, consisted of observing the mapping data combined with the field sample inspection, insurance provider needed to verify survey data and create a damage assessment. When the preliminary assessment phase was finished, insurance provider needed to share the data with interested sides, in this case, farmer whose crops were damaged and the Agricultural Development Authority providing one-time support to the farmers in the case of hail.
