The nine–year wait on a "Gilmore Girls" tv get–together will certainly more than on Friday when
Netflix launches the miniseries "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."
When an apparently difficult accomplishment, it took one occasion as well as the appropriate

" I lobbied for it for many years," Scott Patterson, that played restaurant proprietor as well as
Lorelai's love passion Luke on the collection, lately informed Business Insider. "I truly aimed to use
up the reason for the followers, due to the fact that I understand they desired it so terribly and also
deservedly so. It was a collective initiative over a variety of years."

In a meeting with TVLine, the program's developer stated she obtained spoken contracts from the 4

Rory Gilmore Character Analysis
When I think of a character that is like me I think of the character Rory Gilmore from the 2000 tv
show Gilmore Girls. She starts as a 16–year–old girl who dreams of getting into Harvard University.
Rory works so hard to keep her grades up and to keep a healthy relationship with her mother. When
she faces difficult situations in life, she remains kind and dependent. She is always there for her best
friends, relationships, and her family. Lorelai Gilmore is the mother of Rory. Rory's relationship
with her mother is the kind of relationship I have with my mother. They have always had the same
taste in music, movies, and lots of coffee. Rory depends on her mother just as much as her mother
depends on her. When Rory was born it was only her

Last Man Standing: The Changing Family Structures
Changing Family Structures
Families are composed of so many different structures in today's society. For example, some
families are headed by two parents, one parent, grandparents, oldest sibling, and some have step–
parents and step–siblings, and adoptive structures. This is due to morals, or the declination of for a
better lack of words, and also the busy society we are living in today. All the aforementioned
scenarios are portrayed through the media as well. There are several different television shows
focused on each these specific family structures.
Last Man Standing is a great television show. It is composed of a dad, mom and three kids, the
traditional family structure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She got pregnant at 16, and despite coming from a wealthy home, she set out on her own with no
help. She raises her daughter, Rory, into a very smart, successful, independent strong woman as
well, who ends up attending and graduating from Yale, and becoming a successful journalist. When
Rory was seventeen, Lorelai put herself through college and obtained a degree in business
management. She becomes the co–owner of a cozy bed and breakfast. This type of structure is more
financially challenging, but very doable, and sadly, is the new traditional family structure. I have
come to realize people have a lot of stereotypical ideas about this type of family structure, dismally,
but they couldn't be more wrong. I relate very well to this type of family structure, as my own
household falls under this type. I have raised three beautiful, smart, witty and strong women, well
almost women. My oldest daughter is about to turn eighteen in September, my middle daughter is
sixteen and learning to drive, and my youngest daughter is fourteen. I had my oldest daughter when
I was nineteen. I have been on my own the whole time. It has always been me and my girls, we are
extremely close. During the past seventeen years I have been a medical assistant, which has
provided, but it has definitely been a struggle. With my girls being older now, I am able to go back
to school to obtain my RN license. So our story is very similar to The Gilmore Girls in a lot of

The Oppression Of Motherhood
"When will you have a child?" is a question often heard by women nearing a certain age, or upon
achieving certain milestones in her life (such as marriage or after her 30th birthday). While it may
be true that women are indeed the only ones with the ability to bear children, having a child is
portrayed as a woman's right of passage. Individuals frequently overstep boundaries of privacy and
inquire insensitively about a woman's personal plan for children, and the male glorifying society is
to be blamed for this prying and expectation. Due to the fact that motherhood in general is largely
linked to women's subordination to men, voluntary alternate decisions are subject to public criticism
for violating the dominant norm. However, what if a woman truly has no desire to become a
mother? Is it really something that every woman should aspire to? Why are women who opt not to
procreate stigmatized in the first place? Is motherhood really as rewarding as portrayed to be? It is
vital to note that is essay is not intended to degrade or discredit motherhood, as it is truly an
extremely imperative, praiseworthy role, but, to closely examine ... Show more content on

The media plays a significant role in the idealization of the patriarchal motherhood. Though the
media portrayals of family ideals change from era to era, historically, characters such as Carol Brady

Analysis Of Emily Gilmore 's ' The Matriarch Of The...
Case History Emily Gilmore, born in 1942, is the matriarch of the complex Gilmore family. She
attended Smith College and majored in history before meeting her husband, Richard at a Yale party.
A little while after she and Richard got married, they had their only daughter, Lorelai Gilmore.
Emily is a long–standing member of Connecticut high society. She is an active member of the
Hartford DAR chapter, hosts work events on a weekly basis for her husband, and volunteers her
time and money very often. Emily goes through maids like a normal person changes clothes. She
has had maids from all over the world, but none of them last very long. Emily is too particular about
the state of her house for any maid to please her; this is why she pays the most of all her friends. She
is very controlling of her environment and always feels as if she is the most important person in the
room. Although she interacts with people every day, Emily Gilmore doesn't have many people she is
close to. Before his retirement, Richard was often out of town with his insurance business. Now,
they spend more time with each other. Lorelai left home after having her daughter, Rory, at age
sixteen to get away from her controlling mother. Since Lorelai, and Rory have left, Emily's
relationship with her daughter has not been the healthiest. Emily saw her daughter and
granddaughter only Christmas and Easter. This changed when Rory was accepted into Chilton
Preparatory School. The tuition was too much for Lorelai

The television show Gilmore Girls was a very successful "dramedy" created by Amy Sherman–
Palladino that starred Laure Graham and Alexis Bledel. It is centered around a young mother named
Lorelai (Graham) and the daughter that she had at sixteen named Rory (Bledel) who live in a very
small town, the fictional Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Lorelai's parents, Richard and Emily Gilmore,
live in Hartford, Connecticut and are rich and proper and have very specific ideas of what a life
should look like. Lorelai never felt like she belonged in that world, which is why she moved to Stars
Hollow when she was seventeen, just a year after she had Rory. Lorelai began her life in Stars
Hollow by living in a potting shed behind The Independence Inn, where she got ... Show more

These women are portrayed as strong and smart and independent. Rory is valedictorian of her senior
class and gets into both Harvard and Yale, eventually attending Yale. She becomes an active member
of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she hosts parties and fundraisers and is in
charge of a lot of important events. She also becomes editor of the Yale Daily News. Both of these
are positions of power and leadership. Lorelai starts off as the manager of a successful inn and
eventually becomes co–owner of her own inn, the Dragonfly, which she buys with her best friend
Sookie St. James (another woman). There are actually a lot of women who own their own
businesses in this show; Miss Patty owns her own dance studio, Mrs. Kim owns Kim's Antiques,
Gypsy owns the local auto shop (and works as a mechanic), just to name a few. This is significant
because it isn't often on television shows that women are shown as businesswomen or business
owners, but this show has a whole host of them. Any woman watching Gilmore Girls is presented
with a list of successful women characters that should make them feel inspired and

Then after much speculation and many answers of no, and maybes, the world go the conformation,
the revival of the Gilmore Girls has been set. Netflix struck a deal with Warner Brothers and
contracted Sherman–Palladino to write the script for 4 episodes titled the seasons, running 90
minutes long. The world took over all over media the buzz of the revival was a float and there were
people asking when it would be out? Where we could see it? How? And who would return, who
wouldn't? Who would be together, and what 'ships' everyone was rooting for. In an interview
Graham and Bledel were asked if they knew what ship between couples meant and the responded
that they didn't. This is when character couples are put together and that they want that relationship
to survive or they are fans of said relationship. The buzz and questions grew, and one big thing for
us fans were the final four words. Since the show aired Sherman–Palladino stated that she wanted to
end the show with four final words, but since she did not get to finish the show those four words
were never aired. Now after years of waiting, the fans have a chance to relive the magic and see

Gilmore Girls Mother Daughter Relationship
As an avid television viewer, it has always been easy to connect with certain shows based on the
characters. For some they become so dedicated to these characters and these shows that a fandom
through mediated text is formed. Gilmore Girls, a show that ended many years ago, continues to
inspire many. With its quick and witty humor it is no surprise that many personalities quickly
become admirers of the show. The humor and story lines are not the main reason for the creation of
such a large fan community. Instead the relationships and it's ability to break through television

speculations about characters and story events beyond textual boundaries, draws heavily upon the
types of interpretive strategies more common to the feminine than to the masculine"(7). This
phenomenon can explain why fans never changed the mother daughter relationship of Lorelai and
Rory Gilmore. This mother daughter relationship inspires many families especially mothers and
daughters to develop the same close nit friendship as the Gilmore Girls. One fan states "I was
excited that I was finally able to connect with a mother–daughter relationship on television" (My

Lorelai Victoria Gilmore
Prenatal/Perinatal Development
It's a girl! Lorelai Victoria Gilmore was born on April 26, 1968 with no known birth defects to
Emily and Richard Gilmore. She got an APGAR rating of one for appearance, two for pulse, two for
grimace, a one for activity, and a two for respiration. Her mothers choose to breast–feed her because
"breast milk is almost always the best food" (lecture slides). She used disposable diapers because
they are easier and Lorelai would just ruin the reusable ones anyway like she ruined her pretty white
dress with twelve petticoats when she spilled grape juice on it during her first birthday pictures. She

She does not have any known genetic disorders that would affect her progress in school. Lorelai has
been acting differently lately; one day she refuses to go to school and Emily demands to know why
she does not want to go to school, pestering her until Lorelai spills that she is being bullied at school
by a peer so Emily speaks with the bully's parents and uses her connections to the principle's wife to
assure that Lorelai will be protected from the bully. She fails to address Lorelais emotional needs
though since bullying can lead to depression and suicidal thoughts. She also prompts the bully to
transition from blatant sexual comments and gestures to using relational aggression to isolate
Lorelai and try to make her peers ignore her (Ludden, 2015). This attempt is not very successful
because, aside from the bully and his immediate clique, Lorelai's wit and gregariousness makes her
popular among her peers. Emily gets a call from the neighbor that Lorelai threw a rock through their
window so she politely tells the neighbor that she will pay for the window and invites the neighbor
to dinner that night where Lorelai is made to formally apologize. Lorelai is

Gender Representation In Gilmore Girls
Representation in media is hugely important as it influences, both consciously and subconsciously,
culture and society. Gender representation is especially important in this day and age because more
and more media is being consumed by younger audiences. In G–rated animated movies and
televisions shows targeted for young girls, the female characters are hyper–sexualized and, 9 out of
10 times, their stories revolve around finding a man to love them, facilitating our cultures obsession
with heteronormativity. Boys are encouraged to watch male dominated action movies, full of
violence, sexy, scantily–clad women, and heteronormative, hyper–masculine stereotypes. Boys who
are interested in any media designated "for girls" is seen as less masculine and may face bullies and
pressure from all walks of life, at home and in school. Society begins teaching boys and girls how to
gender immediately, what is appropriate, tolerated, encouraged, and what is unacceptable. As we
grow up our media becomes more violent, more sexualized, and even more gendered. I will be
exploring gender representation in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, and The 100,
discussing the problematic and the progressive representations of gender, starting with Gilmore
Girls. Gilmore Girls is a fast paced "dramedy" following a thirty–something single mother, Lorelai,
and her daughter, Rory. Seemingly progressive, as the show was written and produced by a woman,

Relationship Between A Mother Daughter Relationships And...
"In Affection and Acrimony": Exploring Mother–Daughter Relationships in Gilmore Girls
Almost every woman in North America has some form of a relationship with their daughter and/or
mother in their lifetime. However, these relation can vary in amiability and affection. Whether due
to similarities or differences in personality or circumstances in life, mothers and daughters can be
close confidants or fierce foes. These familial relationships have been studied in part by Marianne
Hirsch and Sharon M. Varallo in their essays on "the familial gaze" and "the genre of family
photographs," respectively. In this essay, I will be using the work previously done by Hirsch and
Varallo to analyze two different mother–daughter relationships presented in the television show
Gilmore Girls. The two relationships differ vastly in their outward appearance, however both
relationships show underlying characteristics of both friendship and animosity. Overall, these two
mother–daughter relationships demonstrate that the love between a mother and a daughter can be
expressed in various ways.
Gilmore Girls follows the lives of three women in the Gilmore family. Rory, the youngest, is a
teenager at the beginning of the show. She is an only child and was raised by her single mother,
Lorelai, in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Lorelai is in her thirties throughout the
show. She became pregnant with Rory when she was sixteen, and left her wealthy parents' home to
raise Rory alone. Emily, the

Examples Of Social Stratification In The Media
How Social Stratification is Portrayed by the Media
Malcolm Little, or as he's better known as Malcolm X, once stated, "The media's the most powerful
entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent,
and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses" (Citation). What Malcolm X said is
true; the media does have a control on the people's minds. The media has a big impact on how we
think and feel about everything in our lives. For example, with this type of control the media has
caused people to developed stereotypes about the social classes and the people within them. Upper
class
Through the media, the people of the upper class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The biggest effect media has on women is how the view their looks. Several different TV shows,
songs, magazines, and commercials focus heavily on how women supposedly obsess over their
looks. This can be seen all throughout the Gilmore Girls series, for Emily Gilmore is constantly
obsessed over how her and her family looks (Citation). Also, the media shows people that women
can be "catty" with each other. A really good example of this can be seen in the Real Housewives of
New Jersey. This show constantly shows how women are supposedly "catty" with each other by
showing them arguing and fighting constantly (Citation). Another thing the media's view portrays is
how hard of the time women have will trying to balance their personal life and their work life. This
can be seen throughout the Gilmore Girls series. Lorelai Gilmore, one of the main characters in the
series, can be seen having trouble balancing her personal life and her work life (Citation). These
stereotypes can negatively affect women personally, for these can determine whether a woman can

Reba Hart-Montgomery
Mother–daughter relationships are very important in life. Some say they are absolutely essential.
Mothers nurture, encourage, and provide the help needed when it feels like the world is ending.
Their presence makes everything better no matter what. Without a mother's love, without a mother's
hug, daughters would all feel a little lost. After all, what are daughters without their mothers? Here
are the greatest mother–daughter relationships seen on television (some make me totally jealous).
Number Five: Reba Hart and Cheyenne Hart–Montgomery (Reba). This mother–daughter
relationship isn't any ordinary mother–daughter relationship. Reba is present for all of her children,
she's a great mother to her two daughters and one son, but with Cheyenne it's different. When
Cheyenne becomes pregnant her senior year of high school, Reba becomes a mother, a counselor, a
nurse, and a friend. She supports Cheyenne during her pregnancy. Reba provides Cheyenne with the
advice she needs when life gets tough. She encourages Cheyenne when she feels like giving up, and
she nurtures her when she's sick or sad. Reba makes the bad times good, and with Cheyenne by her
side, there's normally nothing but laughs. This mother–daughter relationship melts anyone's heart. ...

Lorelai's Argumentative Analysis
According to Winek (2010), emotional fusion inevitably results in poor interpersonal boundaries as
well as produces emotionally reactive children as it happened in Gilmore Family (Nichols, 2013).
Emily considers Lorelai's autonomy need as abandonment so that she experiences anxiety. Similarly,
Lorelai constantly attempts to keep her boundaries clear and distinguishable. However, while doing
that, they fail to protect the family union. In this sense, "self–differentiation" concept comes into
play. According to Bowen, differentiated individuals make an effort to change themselves rather
than trying to alter other's minds. Also, they respect to other people's opinions and are able to
approach them nondefensively (Kim–Appel, Appel, 2015). In this

contributor to the increasing of machismo and sexism. Through numerous TV shows, movies, and

The Influence Of Fashion Codes In American Beauty Culture
Photos of youthful, skinny ladies (and teens) are seen all over TV, magazines, social media sites and
even kids toys like Barbie and Ken, dolls and puppets. These pictures portray what the perfect
women should look like in American Beauty Culture. Society today has ladies (and teens) being
either skinny and starving or stout and full. I know numerous women, I included, who think they are
ugly in light of the width of their clothes. According to Fatema Mernissi in "Size 6: The Western
Women's Harem," she believes that the American fashion industry is controlled by men and is used
as a way to dictate "...what women should wear and how they should look" (278). This does not just
apply to women and teenage girls; this can be seen with the image being portrayed as the perfect
man and teenage boys.
In today's world, the lifestyle of a person is strongly influenced by the media culture who set the
trends. It should be noted that it is not something that is coerced on people but transpires due to peer
pressure and the urge of wanting to be considered beautiful by following the trends of the era. In this
paper, we will set a discourse concerning how dress codes of American women have been
profoundly influenced by the Fashion industry. From Mernissi's awful encounter with a saleslady in
a New York department store, we can see that the fashion industry has pushed a store to carry only
what they consider to be an average female size of 4 or 6. This is a problem that has invaded

Reflection Of Fight Club
Reflection One: Fight Club
Fight Club (1999) is a film directed by David Fincher based on the Chuck Palahniuk's 1996 novel of
the same name. Within popular culture Fight Club is regarded as a cult–classic and, in my opinion,
is both a fantastic novel and film. However, this reflection will primarily analyse Fight Club (1999)
the film adaption rather than Fight Club (1996) the novel. Fight Club is subjected to several
different polarising genres throughout its complicated storyline including social commentary and
romance. Within the text, Fight Club comments on absent Father's and suggests that men are being
raised by women and are therefore losing the part of themselves that they find through the fight
club. Arguably, Fight Club is hardly ever referenced as a romance novel, yet the film's plot revolves
around the Narrator's love interest Marla Singer and the confusing love triangle that exists between
them and the Narrator's second identity Tyler. Fight Club, however, ignores most conventions of a
romance text and instead becomes a blur of genres that critiques capitalistic society and promotes an
anti–materialistic lifestyle.
Fight Club's continuing relevance in contemporary popular culture is primarily attributed to the
relatable characteristics that the unnamed Narrator initially exhibits. Before becoming aware that the
Narrator and Tyler Durden are the same person, the majority of viewers relate more to the Narrator
and his admiration of Tyler as the man they aspire to

series for being extraordinarily tall. Rory's best friend, Lane, and Lorelai's best friend, Sookie, are
on the shorter side. There are also skinny and fat people. There does not seem to be any
discrimination on people's appearance in Gilmore Girls. I cannot seem to think of or find any
stereotypes or generalizations made in this show. The group of people I think might take offense by
this show is the wealthy. Lorelai tends to "bash" the rich, including her parents, Emily and Richard.
She seems to think that their way of living is unnatural. For example, Emily wanted to have a

Examples Of Romantic Narrative In Mass Media
Romantic Narratives in Mass Media: The Construction of Ideals
As Television sales increased in the 1940s, more homes in the United States included TVs as a
common accessory in the family room. Since then, televisions have become another tool for
socialization individuals use to try and make sense of the world around them (Riesman, Denny, &
Glaser, 1950). Furthermore, the combination of romance and mass media produced narratives
continues to be a prominent form of entertainment where TV writers and producers construct a
picture of what love should look like.
The way romantic relationships develop and the expectations individuals have for courtships vary
by culture; therefore, this proposed study will focus solely on images of idealized romance through a
Western lens. In general, romantic relationships in Western societies are guided by personal choice,
passion, and the notion of "love at first sight." As you watch television or popular movies in the
United States, you can see examples of this type of love embedded into our media. For instance, the
CBS show How I Met Your Mother based each episode on the main character, Ted Mosby's quest
for love. As the show moves through its eight seasons, the viewer sees Ted go from one unhappy
relationship to another until he meets his ideal partner and eventually finds "true love." Many shows
like this center around the main character's journey for his or her soul mate. The media has created
certain expectations of an idealized

Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalysis and the Characters in Amy...
Amy Sherman–Palladino, the creator of Gilmore Girls, essentially wrote the show about nothing.
After not having a job for years, Sherman had writer's block. On television, everything she saw
seemed the same, identical characters and paralleling plots, she desired to create something
different. Once, she had visited the small town of Washington, Connecticut and loved the "everyone
knows everything" idea. So she thought, "Why not make a show about it?" After tweaks by the
production company, Gilmore Girls was born. Although it is a show about a single mom, by
nitpicking through character's witty banter, one can see the philosophical aspects of the show. One
of Sherman's main goals was to create no analogous characters. In this attempt, she ... Show more

Eventually, Luke and Lorelai begin to date. When Luke discovers that Lorelai has been dishonest
with him, they break up. When she tries to confront him, Luke tells her that he just needs some time
to think and to leave him alone. Lorelai spirals into a deep depression, constantly breaks down
crying, and stays in bed for days at a time. In a later episode, "Say Something," she makes a rash
decision and calls Luke. She leaves an impetuous message on his answering machine, begging him
to come over, because she needs to see him. When referring to the id, Freud says, "It has no
organization, produces no collective will, but only a striving to bring about the satisfaction of the
instinctual needs subject to the observance of the pleasure principle" (Freud PG #). In this situation,
Lorelai does not consider the fact that Luke told her not to call for a reason; she disregards everyone
else's wishes and only thinks of what will please her at the moment. Later on in the series, she starts
seeing Christopher, Rory's father, again. Christopher takes her on a vacation to Paris, and Lorelai is
reminded of the great memories that they had together. Out of nowhere, Christopher proposes. She
is then faced with a decision to make: should she marry him in Paris, because she knows that she
will likely back out when they return to Stars Hollow, or should she wait to marry him because she
wants to share the moment with her family and friends. In Sigmund Freud,

Hollywood Sexism
Power in Hollywood
Women are more than 50 percent of the population in America. Everyday woman face sexism but,
Hollywood in particular has many cases of misogynism. Despite Hollywood projecting progressive
ideas they severely lack in the sexism part. Misogynist portrayal of women in Hollywood results
from men having the power in Hollywood.
Women are a low percent of those behind the camera. "In 2014, a whopping 85 percent of films had
no female directors, 80 percent had no female writers, and one–third lacked female producers,
according to a San Diego State University study (Davidson). How can there be strong women
characters if there are not that many women working behind the scenes? With the lack of women
behind the camera, the roles women play are often degrading and sexist. Women are often portrayed
in service jobs such as waitresses instead of in leadership roles. In the top 500 films from 2007–
2012, 28.8 percent of women wore sexually revealing clothes while men only accounted for 7
percent (IndieWire). TV and movies teach girls from a young age that they are meant to be a wife or
homemaker and not much else. It is hard to dream to be a doctor or a CEO of a big company if you
do not see it when you turn on the TV. And it is not that women are not qualified to work behind the
camera, they are just not given the chance. It is hard to change your portrayal in film and TV if you
are not the one writing the characters or directing.

Play Analysis: The Gilmore Girls
About three years ago, when my sister suggested that I begin watching Gilmore Girls, I immediately
said yes. Having heard nothing about the show other than its name, I was completely basing my
decision off how much I have enjoyed other shows that my sister has presented to me. Growing up
with a sister eleven years older than me, I feel that I belong in her generation more than with my
own. When most of her favorite shows were on air, I was too young to care or be interested in
watching. However, thanks to the world we live in and the technology it provides, shows such as
Full House, 7th Heaven, The OC, and Gossip Girl have not just become her shows but mine as well.

one episode where Rory has a major exam coming up, so Rory and Lorelai spend the whole week

Rory to be late and unable to take the exam. Other scenarios include Rory going to a new school, all
of Lorelai's nice clothes being dirty when an important event is happening, and Rory studying for
finals. These are just a few of the many realistic occurrences the Gilmore girls

Child Development Theories Within The Field Of Psychology...
As we know, there was a prominent debate on "Nurture" versus "Nature" in the field of psychology.
Psychologists fought against each other to assert their own theories and statements. Nowadays,
people have reached a consensus on this topic that the environment and the genes actually interact
with each other and eventually lead to the typical features of individuals. Evidently, parent is one
key topic in various child development theories since parents generally provide the whole living
environment for children. For example, it is one dominant component of the microsystem in
Bronfenbrenner's ecological approach.Parenting styles are referred as the general traits and
characteristics of the strategies that parents used to deal with their children. There are 4 types of
parenting styles which were divided by responsiveness and demandingness: authoritarian,
authoritative, uninvolved and permissive. And it is not surprising that different parenting styles
would likely generate divergent youth outcomes. Authoritarian parenting is known as high
demandingness yet low responsiveness. Authoritarian parents are associated with the use of both
psychological control and behavioral control. Parents will set harsh rules for their kids without any
explanation or discussion. The relationship between parents and adolescents is tense. And conflicts
will burst out during adolescence in both high intensity and high frequency. Therefore, these kinds
of parenting generally have negative

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
For centuries, two main political parties, the Democratic Party, and the Republican Party, have
divided the United States government. The Democrats are considered the liberal political party and
can trace its roots all the way back to Thomas Jefferson when they were known as Jefferson's
Republicans and they strongly opposed the Federalist Party and their nationalist views. Republicans
are considered the conservative political party and try to uphold more traditional values. The
Republican Party came into existence just prior to the Civil War due to their long–time stance in
favor of the abolition of slavery. In 1860, they became an established political party when their
nominee Abraham Lincoln was elected as President of the United States. Since their inception, the
Republican and Democratic Party have had many disputes about policies. One of these major
debates has focused on educational funding in the United States. The parties have different views on
the education system of the country, but both agree there needs a change in some way. Democrats
favor more progressive approaches to education, such as implementing the Common Core System,
while Republicans tend to favor more conservative changes such as longer hours and more focused
programs to better educational resources. In Virginia, Republicans from 1990 to 2013 worked to
provide better educational funding more prominently than Democrats. Starting in the 1990s, the
Virginia education system experienced a decrease in

Social Institutions In The Wire
The Wire is unlike any other series on television; the content of the show is raw and authentic; the
writers do not tip toe around the social, political and educational issues of our nation. As the world
unfolds for the four main boys, they are forced to deal with the harsh reality of surviving in the drug
world. Whether the viewer likes it or not, happy endings are slim to none in these inner city worlds.
Unfortunately, kids are more often neglected than looked after, more forgotten rather than loved, and
yet, when someone comes along who shows compassion, there is a slight glimmer of hope. This
hope all too quickly fades when social institutions come into contact with the citizens of Baltimore.
More often than not, social institutions have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After all, we have been groomed to count on these endings. Companies craft the endings we want
because that is what solidifies their ratings. For instance, Gilmore Girls, which is quite possibly one
of the most popular television series of my generation, leads viewers to anticipate a favorable
outcome, in the most unlikely scenarios. Rory, an ivy league bound student lives with her single
mother, Lorelai, in a small town, and ends up graduating Yale University. Interestingly, the mother–
daughter duo always makes it out of any financial issue that occurs, mainly because of Lorelai's
wealthy parents. In this day and age, it is very rare for a single mother with a child to have the
resources and opportunity to send their child off to one of the most prestigious universities in the
United States. Even with a stable job like Lorealis', it is not often where a single mother can afford a
decently spacious house, or to go out for basically every meal because she cannot cook. However,
we expect pleasant outcomes; no one wants to sit and watch television and become aware of the
issues outside our homes. The majority of people engage themselves in a show after a long day's
work and would rather watch a light and uplifting show with mild drama and excitement, rather than
feel burdened and hopeless by watching a serious show. Society wants life to be "one way;" the way

Happy Gilmore Character Analysis
Happy Gilmore is a comedic 90's movie about the transition from an ineffective hockey player to a
talented golfer. This is a 1996 film, Adam Sandler, who portrays Happy Gilmore faces few obstacles
when learning how to play golf. The reason why he joins a golf tournament was that he needed the
money to save his grandmother's house. His grandmother has not pay taxes for past 10 years so she
owed $270,00 otherwise her home would be lost. Happy Gilmore is a naïve and absurd character
that struggles with anger issues but later learns how to deal with it through dumb childish humor.
Throughout the golf tournament, he has a nemesis, Shooter Mcgavin, who is arrogant that gets
jealous at Happy Gilmore for his hidden talent at golf. Although Gilmore has serious anger issues,
his patience and dedication teach the audience that one's passion is not always something one is
good at.
One of the eye–catching concepts that are hard to miss is Happy's aggression in sports. He is either
yelling, cursing, fighting or attacking someone throughout this film. At the beginning of the film
when he was trying out for the hockey team, there is a scene where he loses his temper. He didn't
make the team so he attacked the coach for being cut. Then there is the scene when he is mad at his
girlfriend so he yells at her but then changes to innocent sad boyfriend voice and just kept switching
off between those two personas. This was very interesting to watch because he was two different

Gilmore Girl : A Short Story : Gilmore Girl
Gilmore Girl It was a normal evening for Lorelai Gilmore. She was sitting on the couch of her
apartment located in Hartford, Connecticut, watching tv. Her coffee table was covered of in all kinds

had gotten everything she wanted. A Yale scholarship, a very demanding, but great job as a lawyer
for one of Hartford's most biggest law firms, and of course lots and lots of money. She had
everything except one thing. A community. She had no friends because she worked so much, her
family was to stuck–up to actually talk to each other and be "close", and she didn't have time for a
lovelife. She knew she was missing something from her life, she just didn't know what. While she
was watching and eating to her heart's content, her phone rang. "It's probably Mom asking about if I
did my dry cleaning.." she sarcastically muttered to herself. "Hello?" She answered. "Hi Lorelai, it's

have a new case we need to be on. It's for a Luke Danes, he's filing for child custody. He wants you
to meet at nine a.m tomorrow in your office." She replied. "Okay, sounds good, boss! Bye!" Lorelai

The Most Dangerous Character Analysis
Picture a ballroom dance, beautiful, elegant, and intriguing. Now remove the dancers from the stage,
and now the stage is empty, dull, and pointless. Much like a story without dynamic characters. In
"The Most Dangerous" written by Richard Connell, dynamic characters effectively engage the
audience. One character that shows this is Rainsford, a big game hunter lost on a tropical island. On
the island he comes across General Zaroff who is also a hunter, but not in the conventional way.
Beatrice (Tris) from the Divergent series, written by Veronica Roth, is also a great example of a
dynamic character effectively engaging an audience. In post apocalyptic Chicago the society is
divided into five factions, each dedicated to different morals – ... Show more content on

Connell writes, "The general was saving him for another day's sport! The Cossack was the cat; he
was the mouse. Then it was that Rainsford knew the full meaning of terror" (Connell 34). This
quotes shows Rainsford being terrified by his plight for the first time. The audience is left
wondering if Zaroff's mind games will be Rainsford's Achilles heel. Knowing that Rainsford is a
dynamic character adds suspense because he has to change physically and mentally to survive, and
the audience doesn't know if he is capable of that. If a character doesn't change then the story is
predictable and simple. Dynamic characters are a necessity in creating suspense and engaging an
audience. Not only do dynamic characters create suspense, but they also make for a more complete
story. Another way is that dynamic characters make for a more complete story. Had Beatrice not had
been a dynamic character there would be no story. Once every year all sixteen–year–olds must select
a faction in which they will dedicate their lives to, and put faction over family. Beatrice must decide
staying with her family or be who she really is. Beatrice is also hiding a life threatening secret. What
starts her change is when Beatrice chooses to switch out of her faction, Abnegation, and into
Dauntless, and when she changes her name to Tris. In the beginning of the book Tris is dependent on
others and is obedient.

Analysis Of The Movie ' I Didn 't Sleep '
Rory walked with Valentina back to her mom's house, not that far from the town square. She
contemplated telling her mom and Luke about Jess' reemergence, but she didn 't know how long he
was staying, or if he was staying at all, so she decided not to say anything. Jess had been right, the
air was crisp tonight and she should 've brought a blanket for her daughter, and a jacket for herself.
But she wouldn 't let herself think that Jess was right, what does he know about being a parent, not
that she knew every trick in the book either. Rory got back to the house a few minutes later and
carefully took her sleeping daughter out of her stroller and took her inside to her room. Lorelei had
redone Rory's room when she was away so she could fit a training bed for Valentina. Rory placed
Valentina in her bed and then got ready for bed herself. All night though, she couldn 't sleep. She
had just seen the man that she loved for the first time in four years. Why is he back? she thought.
Where is he going next? How will I contact him?. She didn 't believe Jess, that he was just here to
read. He hated this town with every inch of his being, he wouldn 't have come back if he didn 't have
a reason. Valentina woke up early that next morning, much to Rory's disliking. Valentina came in

Television 's Impact On Television
One part of television that has always been a constant in a lot of programs is family. More particular,
the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around today. Family
television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very family–oriented.
However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has changed drastically
with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way families are viewed on screen
and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television. One television show that aired
from 1951–1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a husband and a wife and their
lives together. They were a typical family in the '50s. Lucy stayed at home being a housewife at first
while Ricky would go out to work (Smith). The series even showed them sleeping in separate beds
at that time because we as the audience weren't allowed to see a couple sleep in the same bed. Later
in the series, Lucy became pregnant which wasn't a very common thing to show on television,
especially at that time (Garrison).
Typical families shown on television in the 1950s were a mother, father, and their children. One
show that started to break the mold was My Three Sons which premiered in 1960 and aired until
1972. My Three Sons was about a widowed father raising his three sons on his own with the help of
the kids' grandfather (Taflinger). In a matter of only ten years the family sitcom had

  • 3. Rory Gilmore Character Analysis When I think of a character that is like me I think of the character Rory Gilmore from the 2000 tv show Gilmore Girls. She starts as a 16–year–old girl who dreams of getting into Harvard University. Rory works so hard to keep her grades up and to keep a healthy relationship with her mother. When she faces difficult situations in life, she remains kind and dependent. She is always there for her best friends, relationships, and her family. Lorelai Gilmore is the mother of Rory. Rory's relationship with her mother is the kind of relationship I have with my mother. They have always had the same taste in music, movies, and lots of coffee. Rory depends on her mother just as much as her mother depends on her. When Rory was born it was only her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Last Man Standing: The Changing Family Structures Changing Family Structures Families are composed of so many different structures in today's society. For example, some families are headed by two parents, one parent, grandparents, oldest sibling, and some have step– parents and step–siblings, and adoptive structures. This is due to morals, or the declination of for a better lack of words, and also the busy society we are living in today. All the aforementioned scenarios are portrayed through the media as well. There are several different television shows focused on each these specific family structures. Last Man Standing is a great television show. It is composed of a dad, mom and three kids, the traditional family structure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She got pregnant at 16, and despite coming from a wealthy home, she set out on her own with no help. She raises her daughter, Rory, into a very smart, successful, independent strong woman as well, who ends up attending and graduating from Yale, and becoming a successful journalist. When Rory was seventeen, Lorelai put herself through college and obtained a degree in business management. She becomes the co–owner of a cozy bed and breakfast. This type of structure is more financially challenging, but very doable, and sadly, is the new traditional family structure. I have come to realize people have a lot of stereotypical ideas about this type of family structure, dismally, but they couldn't be more wrong. I relate very well to this type of family structure, as my own household falls under this type. I have raised three beautiful, smart, witty and strong women, well almost women. My oldest daughter is about to turn eighteen in September, my middle daughter is sixteen and learning to drive, and my youngest daughter is fourteen. I had my oldest daughter when I was nineteen. I have been on my own the whole time. It has always been me and my girls, we are extremely close. • 7. The Oppression Of Motherhood "When will you have a child?" is a question often heard by women nearing a certain age, or upon achieving certain milestones in her life (such as marriage or after her 30th birthday). While it may be true that women are indeed the only ones with the ability to bear children, having a child is portrayed as a woman's right of passage. Individuals frequently overstep boundaries of privacy and inquire insensitively about a woman's personal plan for children, and the male glorifying society is to be blamed for this prying and expectation. Due to the fact that motherhood in general is largely linked to women's subordination to men, voluntary alternate decisions are subject to public criticism for violating the dominant norm. However, what if a woman truly has no desire to become a mother? Is it really something that every woman should aspire to? Why are women who opt not to procreate stigmatized in the first place? Is motherhood really as rewarding as portrayed to be? It is vital to note that is essay is not intended to degrade or discredit motherhood, as it is truly an extremely imperative, praiseworthy role, but, to closely examine ... • 11. Analysis Of Emily Gilmore 's ' The Matriarch Of The... Case History Emily Gilmore, born in 1942, is the matriarch of the complex Gilmore family. She attended Smith College and majored in history before meeting her husband, Richard at a Yale party. A little while after she and Richard got married, they had their only daughter, Lorelai Gilmore. Emily is a long–standing member of Connecticut high society. She is an active member of the Hartford DAR chapter, hosts work events on a weekly basis for her husband, and volunteers her time and money very often. Emily goes through maids like a normal person changes clothes. She has had maids from all over the world, but none of them last very long. Emily is too particular about the state of her house for any maid to please her; this is why she pays the most of all her friends. She is very controlling of her environment and always feels as if she is the most important person in the room. Although she interacts with people every day, Emily Gilmore doesn't have many people she is close to. Before his retirement, Richard was often out of town with his insurance business. Now, they spend more time with each other. Lorelai left home after having her daughter, Rory, at age sixteen to get away from her controlling mother. Since Lorelai, and Rory have left, Emily's relationship with her daughter has not been the healthiest. Emily saw her daughter and granddaughter only Christmas and Easter. This changed when Rory was accepted into Chilton Preparatory School. The tuition was too much for Lorelai ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Gilmore Girls Research Paper The television show Gilmore Girls was a very successful "dramedy" created by Amy Sherman– Palladino that starred Laure Graham and Alexis Bledel. It is centered around a young mother named Lorelai (Graham) and the daughter that she had at sixteen named Rory (Bledel) who live in a very small town, the fictional Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Lorelai's parents, Richard and Emily Gilmore, live in Hartford, Connecticut and are rich and proper and have very specific ideas of what a life should look like. Lorelai never felt like she belonged in that world, which is why she moved to Stars Hollow when she was seventeen, just a year after she had Rory. She becomes an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she hosts parties and fundraisers and is in charge of a lot of important events. She also becomes editor of the Yale Daily News. Both of these are positions of power and leadership. Lorelai starts off as the manager of a successful inn and eventually becomes co–owner of her own inn, the Dragonfly, which she buys with her best friend Sookie St. James (another woman). There are actually a lot of women who own their own businesses in this show; Miss Patty owns her own dance studio, Mrs. Kim owns Kim's Antiques, Gypsy owns the local auto shop (and works as a mechanic), just to name a few. This is significant because it isn't often on television shows that women are shown as businesswomen or business owners, but this show has a whole host of them. For some they become so dedicated to these characters and these shows that a fandom through mediated text is formed. Gilmore Girls, a show that ended many years ago, continues to inspire many. With its quick and witty humor it is no surprise that many personalities quickly become admirers of the show. The humor and story lines are not the main reason for the creation of such a large fan community. This phenomenon can explain why fans never changed the mother daughter relationship of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. This mother daughter relationship inspires many families especially mothers and daughters to develop the same close nit friendship as the Gilmore Girls. One fan states "I was excited that I was finally able to connect with a mother–daughter relationship on television" (My Mom and I Are the Gilmore Girls IRL). She got an APGAR rating of one for appearance, two for pulse, two for grimace, a one for activity, and a two for respiration. Her mothers choose to breast–feed her because "breast milk is almost always the best food" (lecture slides). She used disposable diapers because they are easier and Lorelai would just ruin the reusable ones anyway like she ruined her pretty white dress with twelve petticoats when she spilled grape juice on it during her first birthday pictures. She does not have any known genetic disorders that would affect her progress in school. Lorelai has been acting differently lately; one day she refuses to go to school and Emily demands to know why she does not want to go to school, pestering her until Lorelai spills that she is being bullied at school by a peer so Emily speaks with the bully's parents and uses her connections to the principle's wife to assure that Lorelai will be protected from the bully. She fails to address Lorelais emotional needs though since bullying can lead to depression and suicidal thoughts. She also prompts the bully to transition from blatant sexual comments and gestures to using relational aggression to isolate Lorelai and try to make her peers ignore her (Ludden, 2015). • 21. Gender Representation In Gilmore Girls Representation in media is hugely important as it influences, both consciously and subconsciously, culture and society. Gender representation is especially important in this day and age because more and more media is being consumed by younger audiences. In G–rated animated movies and televisions shows targeted for young girls, the female characters are hyper–sexualized and, 9 out of 10 times, their stories revolve around finding a man to love them, facilitating our cultures obsession with heteronormativity. Boys are encouraged to watch male dominated action movies, full of violence, sexy, scantily–clad women, and heteronormative, hyper–masculine stereotypes. Boys who are interested in any media designated "for girls" is seen as less masculine and may face bullies and pressure from all walks of life, at home and in school. Society begins teaching boys and girls how to gender immediately, what is appropriate, tolerated, encouraged, and what is unacceptable. As we grow up our media becomes more violent, more sexualized, and even more gendered. I will be exploring gender representation in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, and The 100, discussing the problematic and the progressive representations of gender, starting with Gilmore Girls. Gilmore Girls is a fast paced "dramedy" following a thirty–something single mother, Lorelai, and her daughter, Rory. • 23. Relationship Between A Mother Daughter Relationships And... "In Affection and Acrimony": Exploring Mother–Daughter Relationships in Gilmore Girls Almost every woman in North America has some form of a relationship with their daughter and/or mother in their lifetime. However, these relation can vary in amiability and affection. Whether due to similarities or differences in personality or circumstances in life, mothers and daughters can be close confidants or fierce foes. These familial relationships have been studied in part by Marianne Hirsch and Sharon M. Varallo in their essays on "the familial gaze" and "the genre of family photographs," respectively. In this essay, I will be using the work previously done by Hirsch and Varallo to analyze two different mother–daughter relationships presented in the television show Gilmore Girls. The two relationships differ vastly in their outward appearance, however both relationships show underlying characteristics of both friendship and animosity. Overall, these two mother–daughter relationships demonstrate that the love between a mother and a daughter can be expressed in various ways. Gilmore Girls follows the lives of three women in the Gilmore family. Rory, the youngest, is a teenager at the beginning of the show. She is an only child and was raised by her single mother, Lorelai, in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Lorelai is in her thirties throughout the show. She became pregnant with Rory when she was sixteen, and left her wealthy parents' home to raise Rory alone. Emily, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of Social Stratification In The Media How Social Stratification is Portrayed by the Media Malcolm Little, or as he's better known as Malcolm X, once stated, "The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses" (Citation). What Malcolm X said is true; the media does have a control on the people's minds. The media has a big impact on how we think and feel about everything in our lives. Lorelai's Argumentative Analysis According to Winek (2010), emotional fusion inevitably results in poor interpersonal boundaries as well as produces emotionally reactive children as it happened in Gilmore Family (Nichols, 2013). Emily considers Lorelai's autonomy need as abandonment so that she experiences anxiety. Similarly, Lorelai constantly attempts to keep her boundaries clear and distinguishable. However, while doing that, they fail to protect the family union. In this sense, "self–differentiation" concept comes into play. The Influence Of Fashion Codes In American Beauty Culture Photos of youthful, skinny ladies (and teens) are seen all over TV, magazines, social media sites and even kids toys like Barbie and Ken, dolls and puppets. These pictures portray what the perfect women should look like in American Beauty Culture. Society today has ladies (and teens) being either skinny and starving or stout and full. I know numerous women, I included, who think they are ugly in light of the width of their clothes. According to Fatema Mernissi in "Size 6: The Western Women's Harem," she believes that the American fashion industry is controlled by men and is used as a way to dictate "...what women should wear and how they should look" (278). This does not just apply to women and teenage girls; this can be seen with the image being portrayed as the perfect man and teenage boys. In today's world, the lifestyle of a person is strongly influenced by the media culture who set the trends. It should be noted that it is not something that is coerced on people but transpires due to peer pressure and the urge of wanting to be considered beautiful by following the trends of the era. In this paper, we will set a discourse concerning how dress codes of American women have been profoundly influenced by the Fashion industry. • 39. Reflection Of Fight Club Reflection One: Fight Club Fight Club (1999) is a film directed by David Fincher based on the Chuck Palahniuk's 1996 novel of the same name. Within popular culture Fight Club is regarded as a cult–classic and, in my opinion, is both a fantastic novel and film. However, this reflection will primarily analyse Fight Club (1999) the film adaption rather than Fight Club (1996) the novel. Fight Club is subjected to several different polarising genres throughout its complicated storyline including social commentary and romance. Within the text, Fight Club comments on absent Father's and suggests that men are being raised by women and are therefore losing the part of themselves that they find through the fight club. Arguably, Fight Club is hardly ever referenced as a romance novel, yet the film's plot revolves around the Narrator's love interest Marla Singer and the confusing love triangle that exists between them and the Narrator's second identity Tyler. Fight Club, however, ignores most conventions of a romance text and instead becomes a blur of genres that critiques capitalistic society and promotes an anti–materialistic lifestyle. Fight Club's continuing relevance in contemporary popular culture is primarily attributed to the relatable characteristics that the unnamed Narrator initially exhibits. Before becoming aware that the Narrator and Tyler Durden are the same person, the majority of viewers relate more to the Narrator and his admiration of Tyler as the man they aspire to ... • 43. Examples Of Romantic Narrative In Mass Media Romantic Narratives in Mass Media: The Construction of Ideals As Television sales increased in the 1940s, more homes in the United States included TVs as a common accessory in the family room. Since then, televisions have become another tool for socialization individuals use to try and make sense of the world around them (Riesman, Denny, & Glaser, 1950). Furthermore, the combination of romance and mass media produced narratives continues to be a prominent form of entertainment where TV writers and producers construct a picture of what love should look like. The way romantic relationships develop and the expectations individuals have for courtships vary by culture; therefore, this proposed study will focus solely on images of idealized romance through a Western lens. In general, romantic relationships in Western societies are guided by personal choice, passion, and the notion of "love at first sight." As you watch television or popular movies in the United States, you can see examples of this type of love embedded into our media. For instance, the CBS show How I Met Your Mother based each episode on the main character, Ted Mosby's quest for love. As the show moves through its eight seasons, the viewer sees Ted go from one unhappy relationship to another until he meets his ideal partner and eventually finds "true love." After tweaks by the production company, Gilmore Girls was born. Despite Hollywood projecting progressive ideas they severely lack in the sexism part. Misogynist portrayal of women in Hollywood results from men having the power in Hollywood. Women are a low percent of those behind the camera. "In 2014, a whopping 85 percent of films had no female directors, 80 percent had no female writers, and one–third lacked female producers, according to a San Diego State University study (Davidson). How can there be strong women characters if there are not that many women working behind the scenes? With the lack of women behind the camera, the roles women play are often degrading and sexist. Women are often portrayed in service jobs such as waitresses instead of in leadership roles. In the top 500 films from 2007– 2012, 28.8 percent of women wore sexually revealing clothes while men only accounted for 7 percent (IndieWire). The Democrats are considered the liberal political party and can trace its roots all the way back to Thomas Jefferson when they were known as Jefferson's Republicans and they strongly opposed the Federalist Party and their nationalist views. Republicans are considered the conservative political party and try to uphold more traditional values. The Republican Party came into existence just prior to the Civil War due to their long–time stance in favor of the abolition of slavery. In 1860, they became an established political party when their nominee Abraham Lincoln was elected as President of the United States. This is a 1996 film, Adam Sandler, who portrays Happy Gilmore faces few obstacles when learning how to play golf. The reason why he joins a golf tournament was that he needed the money to save his grandmother's house. His grandmother has not pay taxes for past 10 years so she owed $270,00 otherwise her home would be lost. Happy Gilmore is a naïve and absurd character that struggles with anger issues but later learns how to deal with it through dumb childish humor. • 66. Walden Two Research Paper The bond between parent and child is something that is truly special. The television show Gilmore Girls redefined the parent–child relationships on more than just television. Television shows of the past have often kept the lives of the parent and the child separate whereas the two main characters of Lorelai and Rory break this mold. They put out an example for all viewers on how the child and parent can function in the same realm. For them, spending the night watching movies together isn't some kind of forced bonding, but a time to actively seek each other's company. But this bond does more than just solidify a mother–daughter friendship, it allows them to support each other through life's worst and best moments. There are boundaries that ... • 68. Gilmore Girl : A Short Story : Gilmore Girl Gilmore Girl It was a normal evening for Lorelai Gilmore. She was sitting on the couch of her apartment located in Hartford, Connecticut, watching tv. Her coffee table was covered of in all kinds of drive–thru foods. Lorelai may have thought she was happy, but inside, she was not the least. She had gotten everything she wanted. A Yale scholarship, a very demanding, but great job as a lawyer for one of Hartford's most biggest law firms, and of course lots and lots of money. She had everything except one thing. A community. She had no friends because she worked so much, her family was to stuck–up to actually talk to each other and be "close", and she didn't have time for a lovelife. She knew she was missing something from her life, she just didn't know what. While she was watching and eating to her heart's content, her phone rang. "It's probably Mom asking about if I did my dry cleaning.." she sarcastically muttered to herself. "Hello?" She answered. "Hi Lorelai, it's your father." her boss replied. "Oh hi!" Lorelai exclaimed, as she silently sighed with relief. "We have a new case we need to be on. It's for a Luke Danes, he's filing for child custody. He wants you to meet at nine a.m tomorrow in your office." She replied. "Okay, sounds good, boss! Bye!" Lorelai said. She was not looking forward to that meeting tomorrow. She was tired of all these child custody cases. She imagined if her parents got a divorce, and how they would fight over her. And for some reason, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. The Most Dangerous Character Analysis Picture a ballroom dance, beautiful, elegant, and intriguing. Now remove the dancers from the stage, and now the stage is empty, dull, and pointless. Much like a story without dynamic characters. In "The Most Dangerous" written by Richard Connell, dynamic characters effectively engage the audience. One character that shows this is Rainsford, a big game hunter lost on a tropical island. On the island he comes across General Zaroff who is also a hunter, but not in the conventional way. Beatrice (Tris) from the Divergent series, written by Veronica Roth, is also a great example of a dynamic character effectively engaging an audience. In post apocalyptic Chicago the society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to different morals – ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Connell writes, "The general was saving him for another day's sport! The Cossack was the cat; he was the mouse. Then it was that Rainsford knew the full meaning of terror" (Connell 34). This quotes shows Rainsford being terrified by his plight for the first time. The audience is left wondering if Zaroff's mind games will be Rainsford's Achilles heel. Knowing that Rainsford is a dynamic character adds suspense because he has to change physically and mentally to survive, and the audience doesn't know if he is capable of that. If a character doesn't change then the story is predictable and simple. Dynamic characters are a necessity in creating suspense and engaging an audience. Not only do dynamic characters create suspense, but they also make for a more complete story. Another way is that dynamic characters make for a more complete story. Had Beatrice not had been a dynamic character there would be no story. Once every year all sixteen–year–olds must select a faction in which they will dedicate their lives to, and put faction over family. Beatrice must decide staying with her family or be who she really is. Beatrice is also hiding a life threatening secret. What starts her change is when Beatrice chooses to switch out of her faction, Abnegation, and into Dauntless, and when she changes her name to Tris. In the beginning of the book Tris is dependent on others and is obedient. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Analysis Of The Movie ' I Didn 't Sleep ' Rory walked with Valentina back to her mom's house, not that far from the town square. She contemplated telling her mom and Luke about Jess' reemergence, but she didn 't know how long he was staying, or if he was staying at all, so she decided not to say anything. Jess had been right, the air was crisp tonight and she should 've brought a blanket for her daughter, and a jacket for herself. But she wouldn 't let herself think that Jess was right, what does he know about being a parent, not that she knew every trick in the book either. Rory got back to the house a few minutes later and carefully took her sleeping daughter out of her stroller and took her inside to her room. Lorelei had redone Rory's room when she was away so she could fit a training bed for Valentina. Rory placed Valentina in her bed and then got ready for bed herself. All night though, she couldn 't sleep. She had just seen the man that she loved for the first time in four years. Why is he back? she thought. Where is he going next? How will I contact him?. She didn 't believe Jess, that he was just here to read. He hated this town with every inch of his being, he wouldn 't have come back if he didn 't have a reason. Valentina woke up early that next morning, much to Rory's disliking. Valentina came in Rory's bed and cuddled up with her, before starting to jump on the bed. Rory sighed. The jumping on the bed was fun and cute when she had a full nights sleep, not three hours. "Go see if Nana and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Narrative Essay About Gilmore Girls Lorelai raised me. Luke fed me. Emily wanted me. And above all, Richard knew me. Stars Hallow, circa 2001, stands as the place I come from. At the cusp of Autumn, it all began. The necessary foliage is sprinkled purposely around the gutters. There She Goes, is playing in the background. This is Gilmore Girls, at its best. Hold back your flashbacks. Stop thinking of Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill, Seventh Heaven, or any other 90's teenage crap drama. This show is so much more than a single mom, a budding teenage daughter, a controlling relationship, a Connecticut town, or an eccentric neighbor. At its core, Gilmore Girls stands as the essence of who I am. Now a days, it is considered a social priority to find favor in current mind bending intellectual feasts of television. A young scholar such as myself, is expected to be elbow deep in the latest Aaron Sorkin. Yet, I cling to the wholesome, extinct WB network. If that makes me a phony, a goon, or a pretentious soccer mom, so be it. Through and through, I have watched all seven seasons eight times. At twelve years old I entered the world. Today, I can not say for certain that I have left. I wake up in Stars Hallow and eat my breakfast with the always colorful neighbors, Babette and Morey. After school, I do my homework ... • 78. Television 's Impact On Television One part of television that has always been a constant in a lot of programs is family. More particular, the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around today. Family television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very family–oriented. However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has changed drastically with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way families are viewed on screen and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television. One television show that aired from 1951–1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a husband and a wife and their lives together. They were a typical family in the '50s. Lucy stayed at home being a housewife at first while Ricky would go out to work (Smith). The series even showed them sleeping in separate beds at that time because we as the audience weren't allowed to see a couple sleep in the same bed. Later in the series, Lucy became pregnant which wasn't a very common thing to show on television, especially at that time (Garrison). Typical families shown on television in the 1950s were a mother, father, and their children. One show that started to break the mold was My Three Sons which premiered in 1960 and aired until 1972. My Three Sons was about a widowed father raising his three sons on his own with the help of the kids' grandfather (Taflinger). In a matter of only ten years the family sitcom had ...
