Roald was given the choice to attend either Repton or Marlborough public school at age 12. He chose Repton because it was easier to pronounce. Roald and his mother went to London to buy his school uniform, which included a cap, jacket, and shorts. Roald thought the uniform made him look ridiculous and like an idiot. When he returned home wearing the uniform, his sisters laughed hysterically at how outdated and stiff it looked.
