3. What is Geography?
Amazing!
Geography is a field of science devoted to the study of the lands, features,
inhabitants, and phenomena of the Earth and planets.
We cover topics such as:
Year 7: Extreme Environments, Beautiful Brazil and Raging Rivers.
Year 8 – Hurricane Havoc, Climate Crisis and Impossible Places.
Year 9 – Bridging the Gap, Advancing Asia and Restless Earth.
Year 10 – Hazards, Urban Challenges, Living World and Coasts.
Year 11 – Rivers and the Economic World.
We also go on a number of field trips to support learning outside of the
classroom and develop geographical skills.
5. Land Surveyor
Land surveyors measure the shape of the land, and gather
data for civil engineering and construction projects. Get
Paid £20,000 - £70,000 per year.
What would I do?
Carry out surveys and checking possible effects on the environment
Produce a map of the land, using GPS and surveying instruments
Use digital images and satellite photos to create maps
Collect data and using geographic information systems (GIS) to analyse it
Monitor whether the land has moved during construction or by natural
processes
Draw charts and maps using computer aided design (CAD)
Air Line Pilot
Airline pilots fly passengers and cargo to destinations
around the world. Get Paid £35,000 - £110,000 per year.
What would I do?
work out the best route using weather reports and information from air traffic control
create a flight plan including details of fuel needed and the height you'll need to fly
carry out pre-flight checks of instruments, engines, fuel and safety systems
brief the cabin crew
take instructions from air traffic control
follow procedures during take off and landing to cut down noise pollution
check data during the flight and adjust the route where necessary
tell passengers and crew about journey progress
write reports about in-flight issues
6. Oceanographer
Oceanographers study the seas and oceans. Get Paid
£14,000 - £60,000 per year.
What would I do?
Plan and carry out research expeditions, manage a research project or lead a
team, prepare scientific equipment, design experiments to test your ideas
Use equipment to collect samples and data, track changes in the environment
Use computers to produce models like maps of the ocean floor
Write reports of your research findings, publish and present your findings
In education you may give lectures and lead students on field trips
Primary school teacher
Primary school teachers are responsible for the
educational, social and emotional development of children
from age 5 to 11.
What would I do?

resources, teach whole class lessons, work with small groups and do practical activities
Direct the work of learning support and teaching assistants, mark and assess children's work,
provide a safe and healthy environment and follow safeguarding procedures
Update records, talk to parents and carers about their children's progress
Work with other professionals like education psychologists and social workers
Attend meetings and training, organise outings, after school clubs, school social activities and
sports events
Work and attend meetings outside of usual working hours

Add a relatively short overview of the subject and three images
Meet the team page - space for a photo of a member of staff (possibly using bitmojji) and their name & role. If you need more or less of these boxes, please delete/copy & paste as needed and re-arrange the slide.
Add information onto the next two slides about careers linked to your subject, please add in appropriate images too. Start Profile has all the information you need to copy & paste.
