Thane Made Landfall Early On December 30,on The North
Tamil Nadu Coast Between Cuddalore And Pondicherry And
Rapidly Weakened Into A Depression.
Thane Was The Strongest Cyclone Of 2011 Within The North
Indian Ocean.Thane Initially Developed As A Tropical
Disturbance Within The Monsoon Through To The West Of
Indonesia.Over The Next Couple Days The Disturbance
Gradually Developed Further While Moving Towards The
Northwest.It Approached The Indian States Of Tamil Nadu
And Andhra Pradesh.

Invested A Huge Amount For Publicity And Preparations Were
Compelled To Cancel For New Year Parties.
 The Chunnambar Boat House , probably The Only Recreation
Place For Tourists Is Totally Damaged….
 The Boat House Which Attracts Thousands Of Tourists On
Holidays, Wore A Devastated Look With Uprooted Trees,
damaged Play Equipment And Tossed Boats.
 The Damage Caused By The Violent Storm To Tourism
Infrastracture Would Take Months To Rectified.

8. As Every Disaster Brings Something New So
How Can Agriculture Go Out From Its
Hands.
About One Lakh Hectares,especially Of
Paddy,have Been Affected. Sugarcane In Six
Thousand Hectares,cotton In Two Thousand
Hectares And Coconut In About Five
Thousand Hectares Have Been Affected.

9. The Government Has Been Very Supportive.It
Provided 2.85 Crores Of Money To The
People Affected By The Cyclone.Chief Minister
Jayalalithaa Has Not Only Provided Thepeople
With Economic Support But Also Moral
Support.The Government Has Promised To
Rehabiliate The Boats,huts And Houses.

10. Food Packets Were Being Provided To Peolple
Accomodated In Cyclone Shelters.The Government Has
Payed Rs 2 Lakhs To The Families Of The Nine
Victims Of Cyclone Thane In The State.
Animal Husbandary Minister Assured Fishermen That
Officials From The State Fisheries Department Would
Enumerate The Details Related To Damages.Damages
Like Building Collapses Would Be Taken Into Account
During The Enumeration And Subsequently Assistance
Would Be Provided.
