3. Short passage: history
Back in the olden days, women were always expected to be submissive to men. They
were expected to compile into arranged marriages and had no say about all these.
In some cultures women were see, as objects. They would be expected to go and get
water from the river, cook food for the whole family and bow down If they are to serve
the husband as well as looking after the young ones while the men were in their
workplaces trying to work for money to feed their families.
Women were not allowed to work, especially on leadership positions.
In other countries like Arab, women were not even allowed to drive nor be educated.
Men always had power and authority over women. Those were the social expectations
that anyone was abiding by.

• Gender is the fact of being male or female.
• Because of gender roles it is expected of
men and woman to have characteristics
within themselves.
• In example they expect woman to have
femininity and men to have masculinity.
• But people also fall guilty to stereotyping

• Woman have enlarged
breasts compared to women
due to mammary glands.
• Woman have a vagina
were as men have a penis.
• Woman have ovaries were
as men have testicls.
• Men's testicls are on the
outside which is called the
scrotum were as woman's
ovaries are on the inside of
their bodies.

Gender - The fact of being male or female.
Gender role - The behavior and attitudes that in a community regard as
appropriate for male and females.
Stereotyping - To decide unfairly that a type of person has certain
qualities or abilities because they belong to a particular sex, race, age.
Masculinity - The features and qualities that most people regard as
typical of men.
Femininity – The features and qualities that most people regard as typical
of women.
11. What is gender inequality ?
Along with gender roles come gender inequality and power of genders.
12. Gender inequality
Gender inequality is when a opportunity is not given to a person purely based on
their gender.
Many women are not allowed to make their own decisions and that power relations
that men have power over woman
So as these are very good examples of gender inequality it does not mean it is
right Men and woman should be treated equal !
For example:
More men have higher positions in businesses than women
Work men do seems to hold higher value then those of women
Some men think to use violence on women is right

15. Be the change in the world
• We should treat each other with respect and fair
treatment no matter race, age or sex.
• Women have shown and proven many years that they are
just as capable even more than men to do just as good
or even better in similar working relations.
• Women also have a voice to say yes and to say no to the
things she feel are fit to her life style choices.
• Women deserve a chance to compete for the higher
positions that men do.
16. Power & Power relations
Is when a gender use their power to overpower the other gender.
It can be seen in work, relationships, friendships, peers and
colleagues.
It is the use of power, violence or manipulation to have others do
what you want them to do.
This can be seen as unethical and wrong and any type of
relationship or agreement.
It is shown in history that men overpower women to gain
something.

compliance

• Based on the users relationship with influential
people
3. Reward power
• Based on the user's ability to influence others by
providing something of value in return
