Ablaketka (Аблакетка) (Russian Ablaketka, Аблакетка), former town (кент), N Šyghys Qazaqstan
oblast’, 11 km SE of Öskemen, 49º54′N, 82º42′E. Population (1943): 500-2,000. Ablaketka was
incorporated as a town in 1943. The town became part of Öskemen in 1957.
Berëzovskīj (Берёзовский) (Russian Berëzovskij), former town (кент, Russian посёлок городского
типа), N Abaj oblysy, 6 km E of Semej city centre, 50º25.5′N, 80º19.5′E. Population: (1979) 875;
(1989) 1,433. Berëzovskij received town rights on 22 Feb. 1974. The town was annexed by Semej
on 27 Aug. 1996.
Borīsovka (Борисовка) (Russian Borisovka, Борисовка), former town (кент, Russian посёлок
городского типа), W central Türkistan oblysy, just SW of the city of Türkistan, 43º17′N, 68º12′E.
Population (1939): 23,624. Borīsovka was incorporated as a town in 1934. The town became part
of the city of Türkistan in 1958.
Īle (Иле) (Russian Ili, Или, formerly Ilijsk, Илийск), former town (кент, Russian посёлок
городского типа), S Almaty oblysy, 70 km NNE of Almaty, 43º51′N, 77º10′E. Population (1959):
14,072. Īle was incorporated as a town in 1938. The town was inundated by the waters of the
reservoir Qapšaghaj Bögeni in the spring of 1970. The inhabitants were relocated to the villages of
Arna, Novoīlījsk (renamed Qapšaghaj) and Žetigen.

Qaraton (Қаратон) (Russian Karaton, Каратон), former town (кент, Russian посёлок
городского типа), SE Atyraū oblysy, 70 km SSW Qulsary, 46º26′N, 53º30′E. Population: (1959)
4,212; (1970) 3,648; (1979) 2,876; (1989) 4,813. Qaraton received town rights in 1949. The
inhabitants were resettled to the new town of Žanga Qaraton 1993-2001 due to environmental
problems as a result of oil production.
Qazanšungqyr (Қазаншұңқыр) (Russian Kazan-čunkur, Казан-чункур, formerly Kazanšunkur,
Казаншункур), former town (кент, Russian посёлок городского типа), Abaj oblysy, 30 km
NNE of Qalbataū, 49º33.5′N, 81º46.5′E. Population: (1943) 500-2,000; (1999) 115; (2009) 40.
Qazanšungqyr received town rights in 1942 and lost town status in 1953. The community was
abolished in 2013.

Taskütir (Таскүтір) (Russian Taskutur, Таскутур), former village, Batys Qazaqstan oblysy, 85 km
NE of Kaztalovka, 50º06′25″N, 49º44′40″E. Population: (1999) 210; (2009) 63. Taskütir was
named Tas-chutor (Тас-хутор) until 2006. The village was abandoned in 2018.
