This document discusses different types of assessments used to evaluate student learning. There are three main types of assessments: diagnostic/pre-assessments before learning to determine student readiness; formative assessments during learning to provide feedback; and summative/post-assessments after learning to evaluate student understanding. Examples are provided for each type, including pre-quizzes, questioning, and exams. The purpose of assessment is to understand students, refine educational programs, and improve student learning.
