2. PHILANTHROPISTS
• Access
• Make special resources available only in your office
during Office Hours (e.g., additional study guides,
detailed formula sheets, or other things students
request. The Philanthropist would be motivated to
attend and share these while spreading the good
word of Office Hours.

3. DISRUPTORS
• Development Tools
• Open your Office Hours to these student types by
advertising an opportunity to redesign an
assignment, lecture or test. Engaging these students
in change is a big motivator.

4. FREE SPIRITS
• Easter Eggs
• This might just be some delicious but it also might
be that students who attend Office Hours are treated
to something random and special like coffee gift
cards or unpublished extra points.

5. ACHIEVERS
• Challenges
• Create opportunities for students to attend Office
Hours and work on course-related challenges
associated with some extra credit or consideration
(e.g. work-study, grader, TA).

6. PLAYERS
• Virtual Economy
• Award students points that can be spent on a variety
of graded assessments. It would be important to
right size the Office Hours currency but allowing
students to accumulate and spend the points as
needed drives these student types.

7. SOCIALIZ(S)ERS
• Social Discovery
• Inviting students who attend Office Hours to meet
other faculty who might have shared interests,
unique solutions to student inquiries, or common
experiences motivates these social students to
broadening their network.
