Empathy, a word often used yet little understood is critical component of any XR experience and separates XR from all other media. This talk covers three empathy deepening XR techniques distilled from 4 years of research from thousands of players in our own XR Lab for Google, Hidden Path, Survios, 'Beat Saber', 'Fragments' (HoloLens), and 3 unannounced titles: Empathy Hurdles, Empathy Bridges, and Empathy Channels. Whether it's to reduce grieving; create branded emotions from Apple; or bring to life deeply rich narrative spaces for the Harry Potter IP; these three empathy techniques double your XR creation's ability to create emotional depth.
Takeaway
Participants walk away with three frameworks for creating empathy and more importantly weaving richer emotional experiences especially through interaction. Empathy Hurdles to increase compassion, Empathy Bridges to magnify social emotions, and after these, Empathy Channels to increase a pantheon of emotions such as feelings of accomplishment, wonder, surprise, excitement, and desire.
Intended Audience
Brands, IP holders, and game developers interested in leveraging XR's unprecedented capacity for generating empathy to strategically create designs that deliver and enhance their mission objectives. These tips target a brand, IP, and game's emotion profile and emotion architecture to the point where simply turning around the XR space opens empathy to create a series of emotions that feels like narrative even without a story.

Don’t make a game others hate.

GDC 2014 Core Games, Real Numbers: Going Cross-Platformemily_greer
Kongregate has been sharing great data on web games for years - now they're launching mobile games and are ready to start sharing iOS and Android numbers as well. Learn how monetization differs by platform, country, and device, what type of CPIs to expect for different kinds of games, and what's most important in making your free-to-play mobile game a success.
Effective Testing of Free-to-Play Gamesemily_greer
Mobile games have become increasingly high-stakes over the last few years. Successful games make billions, but most games launch to failure, and few get a second chance from either platforms or players. Most developers test their games in various ways, from individual playtest sessions to geo-locked launches in Canada and Australia. But many games still launch with poor retention, monetization, tech problems, or some combination of the three. What's going wrong?
Kongregate has now put more than 20 games through test markets, learning valuable lessons along the way. This talk from GDC 2016 is a pragmatic guide to creating a test strategy, taking into account budget and schedule along with the benefits and pitfalls of various methods and the psychological traps that teams fall into as they evaluate results. The talk is illustrated by case studies and metrics from Kongregate's portfolio including AdVenture Capitalist, Spellstone, Raid Brigade and more.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2. Who: Gamers or parents
What: Gamers who want the new game or
parents who want to buy the game for their
kids.
When: Any time
Where: Anywhere
Why: Missed the date that it came out, Game
be sold out
3. Imagine this, You are waiting for a new
game that’s coming out soon but you
don’t know when and your friend's
know but the wont tell you . You want
to find out so you know when to queue
up outside of the shop to wait for them
to open the doors to get the game.
4. How can we get info on soon to be released games?
5. We will get our information buy contacting
the game makers e.g. Rockstar, Treyarch, EA,
Atari, Nintendo, POLYPHONY DIGITAL and
etc. Also we would contact game selling
shops, BIG and SMALL. So the small shops
will maybe get bigger. Our app will also have
the feature to compare games and prices ,
which will give smaller shops a chance to
grow like we said.
6. [Mini Elevator Pitch]
My team, The Mining Diamonds, is developing a Game timer
to help Gamers and parents. To find out about new and upcoming
games with Hidden features
7. Our users are quite happy with the design of our app.
10. [Flow of app & user feedback integrated]
This is a flow chart on how the app will work
11. You need to click on the platform you want to use. Then the next
screen is your home page where you can look through your
games you have put on your wish list. By clicking on the Search
icon you get put through to the next screen where you can search
for games you want to add to your wish list.
Platform Page Home Page Search Page Search Page
12. Side Page Game Page
Game Page (when
clicked “Add to Wish
List).
13. Feasibility
Data
We what need to get the data from the creators of the
game in question. If they weren’t going to give us the data
we what have to not put the game onto the app. We would
need to get prices for different shops.
Content
We would need to get covers of the game for the home
page.
Technical
We would have to do lots of updates to put the new games
on, but that wouldn’t be to hard.
14. We have had some several pledges, and here is one of them,
15. We have made our app free so we will lose a bit of
money with that but we will have advertisements
and in app purchases and that will give us back
money making the app overall cheap.
