This document provides a lesson on exponents. It includes examples of exponential expressions with whole number and fractional bases. Students are asked to evaluate expressions, write them in exponential, expanded, and standard form. The lesson defines exponential notation and explains that raising a number to the power of 0 equals 1, while whole number exponents get larger and fractional exponents get smaller as the exponent increases.
Math-English Continuum - How To Improve Delivery of Algebra ContentAvery Austin
This brief Math-English Continuum stimulated discussion on how learning Algebra content depends on clear, concise, and definitive uses of English vocabulary to express precise concepts, procedures, and processes. In other words, telling students to express Algebra concepts using everyday language to engage in precise descriptions or explanations may be in part counterproductive to learning Algebra. The continuum suggest how to address this unspoken challenge.
308. Don't FAL out;Techno IN!
This session will share several formative assessment lessons, activities and strategies that we have used within our classes as well as technology resources we have found very useful. Handouts are available online. You will feel like a kid leaving a candy shop!
Presenter(s): Jo Harris, Olivia Valk, Cody Powell
Location: Biltmore
This has been done strictly to appease politicians in Tallahassee, AND to hopefully lighten the load on other Florida math teachers. Please feel free to make amendments and send me comments on any improvements that would help us all!
