This document provides character descriptions for a horror film trailer. It will feature a young married couple as the main characters who buy a new home. The wife may notice something strange first. Secondary characters are an inexperienced estate agent who sells them the house and an older, experienced doctor. The couple and estate agent will be dressed casually while the doctor appears professionally in a suit. Potential actors are discussed for each role.

1. Character

4. The couple will be seen in different costumes throughout the trailer as they will be shots from different scenes on different days. They will mostly be dressed in relaxed clothing as they are in their own home. For example they may be wearing just trackies and t-shirts. However the wife may wear formal work clothes in some scenes.Young Couple The couple are similar to the young couples in ‘Paranormal Activity’ (2007) and ‘The Strangers’ (2008) as they are also a young, fairly well off couple.

5. Husband Matt Smith Although Matt Smith isn’t associated with big screen work or the horror genre he would be a useful marketing tool as an up and coming British actor. Having him may separate our film to other products of the same genre that may be released at similar times. Sam Riley Sam Riley would also be good for the part as he is also an up and coming British actor. He is known for serious parts such as ‘Pinkie Brown’ in 2010s brooding 60s set remake of ‘Brighton Rock’ Costume As the husband is a stay at home writer he will mostly be wearing relaxed clothing. However towards the end of the film as he seems to be cracking more and more he will spend a lot of time in his pyjamas. The character is similar to the character played by Scott Speedman in 2008 psychological horror ‘The Strangers.

6. Wife Ellen Page Ellen page has a level of acting success that would hopefully attract attention to our film. Recently she has been in ‘Inception’ a notable success. She is also around the correct age for the part. Natalie Portman Natalie Portman played a similar role in psychological thriller/ horror ‘Black Swan’ (2010). She also has the acting qualities the part as she is able to play vulnerable characters, e.g. in Black Swan. The Character is similar to the character played by Liv Tyler in ‘The Strangers’ as she is aware that something is not right very early on in the film compared to the characters spouse. Costume The wife will be dressed informally through most of the film however in some scenes she will be wearing formal clothing as she has a relatively high power job.
