Letter of Recommendation - Joe Davis
Towhom it may concern,
I have known Joe since 2003 when I joined his previous company as a leadership
development consultant. My role was to provide leadership courses to managers
to give them skills to be successful. Included in the curriculum were courses
focusing on coaching.
Joe embraced and implemented many of the skills which enabled him to succeed
as a manager and coach. This was evidenced in his team’s engagement and
productivity reports. He was also recognized in his division as a top producer.
As an effective leader, Joe is able to:
 Meet his team where they are in their development path. His approach is
not prescriptive. He takes the time to get to know each individual and what
motivates them. Based the specific goal or task, he’s able to diagnose their
development level then flexes his leadership style tomeet the development
level needs of that individual. For example, when a team member takes on
a new task that he/she has never done, he’s able to provide the right
amount of direction to raise that team member’s competency of that new
task. This created an environment of trust from his team where everyone
felt valued.
 Let each team member choose their path to reach the goals. He realizes
that everyone may take a different path to reaching the goal, a path that
makes sense to them. He supports the diversity of style in each individual.
 Be a hands-on coach. He carves out time in his busy day tointeract with
his team and observes and provides feedback on what his direct reports
are doing well and what behaviors need to be changed or enhanced to
drive results.
 Switch gears. In our ever-changing environment, he is able to embrace
change and coach his team through change using the change management
methodology he learned in training.
Joe is a dynamic individual who is able to connect and build strong, trusting, and
effective relationships with everyone. He will make a fine coach in your
organization.
