Stereotype
In class we did an activity on stereotypes that occurred in a typical high school. In order to do
this we arranged into our groups and had to choose five different groups of people that were in
our high school. The five groups that my group chose were rednecks, stoners, band, preps, and
athletes.
The classification of each are listed below:
Rednecks are the group of people at the school that always wear their work boots to school along
with jeans and a flannel. This group usually have a little country twang to how they talk.
Stoners are the group of people at the school who smoke marijuana. These people are typically
not the smartest people at the school. They are the ones that are off by themselves and do not
really associate with others.
Band is considered all of the people in the band. The people in the band are the type that only
talk about the instruments they play and are typically the smarter kids at the school with some
exceptions of course.
Preps are the people that were always dressed up. They are also the people at the school whose
parents had money so they always had the best of everything. They typically only talked to each
other and are rude to others who try to hang around them.
Athletes are the people who played sports at the school. They typically only talk to each other
and feel that they are better than the rest of the people at their school especially if they are really
good at the sport that they play.
2. Listed above are the groups of people that occurred in each of our high schools. We felt that
others do occur but these are the major five that can be found in almost any high school.
