INFOhio’s home page continues to focus learners on those resources that help students learn and teachers teach. The Core Collection of Electronic are organized in three grade-level groups; the complete list of resources are available by clicking the Core Collection button. Access to INFOhio.org is available at any school in Ohio, but if students access INFOhio from home they will need the username and password which is available from http://www.infohio.org/ER/TechSupport.html#WherePassword . The INFOhio 21 st Century Learning Commons provides a place to learn and share 21st century teaching and learning resources and practice ideas.

Each of our core electronic resources has an INFO button which takes the user to the help materials for that resource. Follow the links below to learn about more ways INFOhio helps you to use the electronic resources. The INFOhio Toolkit at http://www.infohio.org/Toolkit.html contains various documents that explain even more about the resources of INFOhio. The INFOhio Research Project Calculator is just one example of the INFOhio resources. The Research Project Calculator provides both students and teachers with research help a timeline for completing research to reminders of how to ask good questions, take notes and write a summary.
- INFOhio helps educators learn 21 st century skills Educators who visit INFOhio.org and click on The Learning Commons button will find an array of resources including: Professional development opportunities . By participating in our self-paced online course, 21 Essential Things for 21st Century Success , educators will learn how to integrate 21st century skills into their classroom instruction. They may use these modules without cost for their own learning. For those interested in credit, there are several options including individual module CEUs, graduate college credit, or a 21st Century Skills Certificate with a specialization in Media and Information Research. Information on 21st century learning skills . Focus on a graphical approach to incorporating information literacy skills, national standards, instructional strategies and a variety of electronic resources through the DIALOGUE: Inquiry and Knowledge Building Process chart. Explore the videos of research-based instructional strategies that accompany each Learning Skills module. INFOhio videos that will help educators, students and parents learn more about some of INFOhio's most popular online resources. Glossary that continues to grow and expand. There are three separate glossaries of terms relevant to Web 2.0 technologies, 21st century skills and information Literacy and research. Each glossary is searchable independently or as a single collection of terms. Discussion Forums . Using INFOhio's discussion forums, educators can collaborate with peers while completing their coursework. Learning Path Documents . Learning path documents outline the objectives and activities for each Thing . Use the learning paths as documentation of your 21st century professional development.
- INFOhio helps students research, discover and learn. The INFOhio Discovery Portal is INFOhio’s vision for an end-user discovery portal offering one-stop searching. It brings together over 23,000 educator-selected age-appropriate websites, Best of the Web sites collection, federated/aggregated searching of the INFOhio electronic resources, and the statewide digital video collection. For those familiar with SchoolRooms, this product replaces SchoolRooms -- but with a great new look and new improved features where all content is now searchable. Here is a screen shot of the High School resources. As you can see the resources are age-appropriate as divided into three separate grade ranges – Elementary, Middle and High School. As you visit each of these grade levels, the resources change in content to be more relevant for those ages. The portal is not just for students, there are also parent and educator guides, divided by grade level, to help these groups guide students in their learning as well as a Librarian’s guide and Children’s Literature area. Each of the grade level areas are separated into 23 curriculum-related content areas like Art, Literature, Math, Physical Science, etc. Each of these areas can be further narrowed into sub-topics. The lowest level opens up into multiple educator-selected websites. A visitor to the Discovery Portal can discover over 2000 unique page views. The search interface allows you to search resources singly or all at once. The content itself is now searchable so finding relevant pages in the Portal is easier and the search results list leads you directly to the pageview desired. The Ohio Digital Video Collection, while a popular resource for teachers, can not only be searched by teachers here, but also by students preparing multi-media reports. The Best of Web contains over 3 million quality websites that have been crawled and indexed to avoid the information overload typically found with other search engines. And lastly, the “right” INFOhio Electronic Resource has been matched with each topic area to provide necessary encyclopedia, reference, or magazine and newspaper material. Results display in a new browser window so your “place” in the Portal is not “lost”. Access is available via your school library OPAC, CAT or CAT Jr. Login method is like the INFOhio resources, IP registered schools will not be challenged for U/P. For home use, please see your library media specialist for U/P. For those who maintain research pages for their students, a search widget that can be posted on your pages will soon be/is available. Please consider the INFOhio Discovery Portal when looking for resources to further student learning experiences.
- INFOhio supports all of its resources and professional development opportunities with regionally located INFOhio Certified Coaches (ICoach) . Roll your mouse over the interactive map of Ohio at http://www.infohio.org/educator/icoach.html to find contact information. The INFOhio Certified Coach program is a collaborative of educators selected from ITC’s, EdTech’s and ESC’s with the purpose to train classroom teachers and other educators to use INFOhio resources effectively while helping them to integrate INFOhio into their classrooms. The INFOhio ICoach encourages educators to develop 21st century instructional strategies through utilizing INFOhio resources. Each of Ohio's 16 regions has at least one ICoach.
