The document is a journal tracking updates for a fundraiser created to help cover the costs of a film project. Early updates include setting up a GoFundMe campaign that was shared widely but received no donations. Other efforts like posting in Facebook filmmaking groups and contacting a fundraising specialist also did not result in donations. Later ideas proposed holding an event like a fair or raffle but uncertainty around logistics prevented moving forward. An opportunity to become an Avon representative was explored but quickly lost interest. Ultimately, the fundraiser was scrapped as the film planning no longer required additional funding.

1. Fundraiser journal
Creating a fundraiser to help cover the production costs of my film project, this document has been
made to help keep track of all of the upcoming updates.

A crowd funder had been set up and published using the website ‘GoFundMe’. Setting the donation
goal as £150, a description of the project was given in attempt to catch someone’s interest.
Sending it around to as many people as I could, they all agreed in helping me send the campaign
around even if those themselves couldn’t donate.

Wanting to boost my luck, a few filmmaker and fundraising groups were discovered on Facebook
where I tried sharing the link. Trying around three possibly four pages, only one was accepted into a
group.

2. 1st
October 2022
Still with no donations, someone did respond to the post on Facebook offering some help.
Suggesting using a newsletter to find those willing to donate, I did get back in touch with them about
this.
Sending a link over for someone they believe could help me reach my goal, the link had taken me to
a fiver profile. For their basic option, they did offer a small amount of help for just less than five
pounds. Additional help came between £60-£180 more or less which I don’t really want to go for.
Taking the first offer into consideration, I have decided to wait this out before jumping straight to
paying someone to do the fundraiser for me.

3. I may not be receiving any funds yet, but there is one friend waiting to be paid before sending the
donation over so there is a start.

A new idea, I literally thought of this idea too early in the morning. But I figured, people would rather
spend money on something that will lead to them getting their own thing out of it. Like a raffle
where they can win a prize.
Getting my ideas out, I have done two things.
Drawing up a mind map, a fair could be a good way to raise money. And although I have one person
who would help me out with this, I am unsure of how I would get this done. Already having a few
station ideas, the main problem I need to figure out is where I would hold the event. The one

4. simplest location is on college grounds, but I don’t really like that idea.
The second thing, those Facebook pages where they put together raffles and prizes. I have even
gotten in touch with a friend who I know does this to get her tips and ideas on this plan. Although it
seems like a reasonable way to raise money for this, again I am unsure of actually moving forward
with this.

Still stuck on what to do, a job offer was found on Facebook to become an Avon representative.
Getting a response quite quick, I am currently going through the process of being set up with a
company and if all works out, I will be putting what I earn from that towards the production costs.

I was meaning to update this earlier but hey ho. With the Avon idea, I had lost interest in that pretty
quickly so have scrapped that.
I was thinking of going simple and just holding a bake sale of some sort, but now with where I am
now with the planning, I won’t be needing the fundraiser at all. Saving me from the hassle.
