For SMEs and startups, it lists the SME Instrument under Horizon 2020, access to finance programs, and funding programs like COSME, InnovFin, and others. For accelerators, it discusses the INNOSUP program under Horizon 2020 as well as potential cooperation with Mexico on a FIWARE accelerator. The annex provides more details on relevant topics in the Horizon 2020 Work Program for 2016-2017 related to FIWARE.

1.4 FTI pilot (https://ec.europa.eu/easme/en/fast-track-innovation-fti-pilot-0): Runs for 2015 and 2016
however based on its review may be continued. The FTI pilot is the only fully-bottom-up measure in
Horizon 2020 promoting close-to-the-market innovation activities that is open to all types of
participants. FTI aims to reduce the time from idea to market and to increase the participation in
Horizon 2020 of industry, SMEs and first-time industry applicants.

other types of organisation engaged in research and innovation (R&I) to gain easier access, via financial
instruments, to loans, guarantees, counter-guarantees and hybrid, mezzanine and equity finance.

The EIB Group can provide from EUR 25 000 up to a limit of EUR 300m, either directly or indirectly through banks
or other financial institutions. So, whether you are an SME with fewer than 250 employees, a midcap with 250-
3000 employees or a larger private company or R&I driven public entity, the EIB Group has a financing solution
for your R&I needs.

1.9 Programme for Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI)
Microloans up to EUR 25 000 to micro-enterprises and to vulnerable persons who wish to set up or
develop a micro-company.
Investments up to EUR 500 000 to social enterprises.
1.10 European Structural and Investment Funds (ESI funds)
Loans, guarantees, equity financing or business grants. Support is provided from multiannual
programmes co-financed by the EU.

2.1.INNOSUP

kind of calls related to SMEs and innovation.
Work Programme 2016-17 (https://ec.europa.eu/programmes/horizon2020/en/draft-work-
programmes-2016-17): ICT is nr 05i. See below (see annex) for a search in the Work Programme for
everything with subgranting (search for "Part K").
2.2 EIF/EIB: Contacts still to be provided.
Cooperation with Mexico: Last year, the EC and CONACYT agreed to continue the collaboration in the
FIWARE technologies for research, innovation and experimental purposes in Mexico. The EC will
continue to encourage the Future Internet Public Private Partnership (FI-PPP) to make available the
technology, the support for the roll-out, and the necessary training for the further evolution of the
Mexican FIWARE Lab nodes. CONACYT will launch a call for proposals, to establish a Mexican FIWARE
accelerator similar to the FI-PPP Phase 3. The EC and CONACYT will encourage the exchange of results
and experiences between the selected Mexican organisations and the FI-PPP. Two Mexican
organisations will join the FI-CORE project.
The EC will explore the possibility to earmark funds aimed at supporting collaboration with Mexico in
the area of FIWARE and Future Internet under the ICT Work Programme 2016-2017. The EC and
CONACYT may also start exploring other modalities for enhanced cooperation in the future, such as a
coordinated call on topics of mutual interest. The EC and CONACYT will start new collaboration
initiatives in the application of FIWARE for smart cities, the diffusion of FIWARE in Mexico and the
exchange of good practices.
