2. Why it “Sticks”The six sticky principles Simplicity As soon as a customer walks in the store, the first thing they see is the fudge counter. It speaks for itself. It’s simple. We are selling fudge and lots of it. Unexpectedness On average, we have over 30 flavors of fudge in winter, with an additional dozen or so in summer. People usually only expect to see about 12. We are always getting comments from people that they have never seen so many flavors of fudge. We are always coming up with new flavors. If they sell, they stay. If not, we try something new. Concreteness We always offer every single customer a sample of their choice of fudge. They can taste the quality of the product we are selling. Customers can always count on us to have fresh-never dried out, old fudge. We make the fudge right in the back of our store so customers can actually watch how we make it.
3. Credibility We have been selling fudge for over 16 years and have been in business for over 21. We use only the highest quality products in our fudge, not what is only on sale at the stores. The fudge sells itself, we make a good product , one taste and you can see that. Other businesses in the area come to us if they need an emergency supply of fudge base. We are the most well know fudge store on the North Beach. Emotions Everyone likes to get something for free. Year round we offer buy one pound get a quarter pound free. During the holiday season, we offer a half pound free. Because they like getting something for free, more often than not, people go for the pound special. Customers like choices. They can choose whether they want one kind or if they want several different kinds, as long as it is in quarter pound increments per kind. Stories People come into our store all the time telling us that they were sent in by a friend or family member to get them some fudge from “The Fudge Shop” when they came down to Ocean Shores. Even though that is not the name of our store, everyone knows what store they are talking about-Specialties For You.
