The document summarizes the work of Shining Hope Foundation, a UK charity that supports various social, health, and environmental projects in and around Bodhgaya, India. Some of the key projects discussed include a solar grandmother project that trains women to install and maintain solar panels to provide electricity for their villages, a medical center and mobile clinics that provide healthcare to over 24,000 people annually, environmental projects around rainwater harvesting and kitchen gardens to improve access to water and food, and social projects including non-formal education, literacy training, and job skills development. The presentation calls for support to expand this important work.

Shining Hope Foundation
supports projects that changes
lives in the following areas.

miles to study for six months at Barefoot College
in Rajasthan, and become solar engineers.

17. The solar grandmothers project has already helped
hundreds of people like Lakshmi to have electricity
and light, as the video below shows.
20. The medical centre has helped tackle
many preventable diseases such as
tuberculosis, diarrhoea and typhoid,
which if go untreated, can prove fatal.
21. As well as expert medical care, the
centre also has an onsite pathology
laboratory, which can conduct a
range of tests and analysis.
This means patients do not need to fear
if a family member becomes ill.
Thanks to the medical centre, getting sick
is not longer life threatening.
23. In 2013, the mobile clinics served more
than 24,500 people from 18 rural villages.
The majority of the patients are women
and children, who have previously never
had any access to healthcare.
24. Our medical centre and mobile clinics are helping some of the
most vulnerable people in India. But we need your help to
continue the good work, and reach even more people.
26. As well as personal development, we are
committed to encouraging sustainable environmental change.
Recently, 1,000 kitchen
gardens were created. By
providing seeds and plants,
families are encouraged to
grow their own food. This
ensures they have a constant
supply of fresh vegetables.
27. The rainwater harvesting project has given
people access to a reliable source of water all year round.
28. This means they now have clean,
safe water to use for cooking, gardening and washing.
29. Through this, we protect people’s health, and provide an
environmental solution to water shortages.
30. Our environmental
projects are also
involved in the
distribution of
sustainable jute bags,
reducing the
dependence on plastic
bags which clog
streets and landfills
across the world.
32. Through our non-formal education projects, we support women
and children by empowering them to change their lives through
personal development.
33. For example, the candle making project teaches a skill that allows
them to make a product they can sell at markets, providing an
income for their families.

women basic

This means they
can participate
fully in society.

Foundation can expand on these
ground-breaking and sustainable
projects, to make lasting change to
some of the most vulnerable
people in India.
