16. Water for Women
Program water for women berusaha meningkatkan
ketidaksetaraan gender ini dengan meningkatkan air
bersih, sanitasi, dan kebersihan yang setara kepada
semua gender dan akhirnya terwujudlah misi
Wateraid yaitu mengubah kehidupan dengan
meningkatkan air bersih, sanitasi, dan kebersihan
yang aman bagi semua kalangan.
Dari kesuksesan yang didapatkan dikarenakan
program ini didukung pemerintah dan pemerintah
Australia pun juga membantu program ini dengan
bantuan finansial agar setidaknya dalam jangka
waktu 5 tahun permasalahan kesetaraan gender ini
dapat teratasi.

17. Sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene (susWash)
Program air bersih, sanitasi dan kebersihan (SusWASH),
didanai oleh H & M Foundation dan berjalan di beberapa
negara. WaterAid bekerja sama dengan pemerintah lokal,
mendukung mereka untuk memenuhi tanggung jawab mereka
untuk penyediaan layanan air dan sanitasi. Selain itu, WaterAid
juga bekerja sama dengan pusat pelayanan kesehatan untuk
meningkatkan fasilitas air, sanitasi, dan kebersihan. WaterAid
juga memperhatikan kelompok-kelompok terpinggirkan untuk
mengidentifikasi hambatan yang mereka hadapi dalam
mengakses air, sanitasi, dan kebersihan yang layak serta
membagi pengalaman ini dengan pihak-pihak yang bertanggung
jawab untuk menyediakan layanan.
Pada tingkat nasional, kami mendukung peninjauan terhadap
Rencana Aksi Nasional Pembangunan Pedesaan untuk
persediaan air, sanitasi, dan kebersihan pedesaan untuk
memastikan bahwa perbaikan tingkat lokal dilakukan ke seluruh
bagian negara.

18. Sports for Development
Popularitas olahraga menjadikannya alat yang
ampuh untuk membuat perubahan terjadi.
WaterAid bekerja sama dengan atlet muda untuk
membangun keterampilan kepemimpinan,
memberikan pendidikan tentang kebersihan, dan
membuat mereka sadar akan hak mereka atas air
bersih dan toilet yang layak. Kami juga melibatkan
pemerintah untuk memastikan bahwa semua
fasilitas olahraga memiliki air dan toilet bersih.
Akhirnya, kami bermitra dengan federasi
olahraga, meminta mereka untuk menggunakan
pengaruhnya untuk menyediakan air bersih dan
toilet untuk pemain, pelatih, dan karyawan
mereka.

19. Australia WaterAid Wash project has again successfully completed another water project in
Kurimui Nomane District in Simbu Province. Three water different sources were dammed to
supply water to Deliba High School, Diani Primary School, and Diani Community Health
Post. This project was counter funded by Vision 2010 Community Volunteer Organization
(CVO) and WaterAid Australia at a total cost of K324,400. President of the Vision 2010
CVO Mr Teebee Aure would like to thank WaterAid for its assistance on technical support
and 25 percent contribution towards the Wash project. Mr Aure said: “WaterAid has a very
good design and we are planning to carry out this Wash project throughout other districts in
Simbu province. “If WaterAid can still continue that partnership, then we can reach out to
other districts as well,” he said.

WaterAid Meet The Need in Kurimui

20. In October 2014, in partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO) WaterAid Australia undertook research in two rural
provinces in Cambodia, to understand the status of water, sanitation and hygiene in healthcare facilities, particularly those that
provide services in maternal and newborn health. We found:
Almost no facilities provided drinking water for patients, pregnant women were unable to access proper toilets, there was a lack
of handwashing facilities or soap in maternity wards, many doctors and nurses were not washing their hands properly or
practising proper infection control, andthere were no proper bio-medical waste systems.
With these findings in mind, WaterAid has embarked on this new project with an overall goal of protecting the health and safety
of mothers and their newborn babies when accessing services in a Cambodian healthcare facility.In order to make significant
and sustainable improvements to water, sanitation and hygiene in healthcare facilities, we have worked hard to establish strong
relationships with government partners. Starting with a formal meeting with the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Health, His
Excellency Professor Eng Huot was presented with a clear message that WASH in healthcare facilities is essential to basic
quality of care and a fundamental part of infection prevention control. He not only agreed with its importance for improving
health in Cambodia but also reinforced it, stating, “Without water, healthcare facilities can’t reach the infection prevention control
standard.” This initial meeting led to an official memorandum of understanding between WaterAid Cambodia and the Ministry of
Health to work in partnership towards the goal of jointly improving healthcare facilities. We are now working with government
and are taking the first steps to assess HCF’s across the following five standards:
Basic water supply facilities, basic sanitation facilities, basic hand hygiene facilities, cleaning routines, and healthcare waste
management

21. In Cambodia, people with disabilities are often among the poorest of the poor, are less likely to attend school and are more likely
to depend on others for their livelihood. These factors, along with experiences of stigma and discrimination, act as barriers to
being included in community water, sanitation and hygiene services. Women with disabilities in Cambodia may experience a ‘triple
burden’ of discrimination based on being a woman living with a disability and being among the poorest in the community.
Accessing safe water and sanitation can be a greater challenge for people with disabilities as they may have difficulty getting to or
using a water point or latrine. They may also be left out of community processes because they do not hear about the event or are
unable to get to and from community meetings, or because the promotion methods are not appropriate for people with vision or
hearing impairments.Inclusive water, sanitation and hygiene occurs when the entire community, including people with a disability,
the elderly, pregnant women, ethnic minorities and other marginalised groups benefit and participate equally from water,
sanitation and hygiene programs, services and processes. Inclusive approaches to water, sanitation and hygiene encourage
awareness of and participation by all marginalised groups. As with all WaterAid projects, we work with a number of partners to en-
sure we are able to successfully deliver our projects; including local, district and national government agencies; service providers;
implementing partners, and of course the community itself. Starting with the Cambodian Government, we continue to work with
them to raise their support and understanding of water, sanitation and hygiene particularly as it relates to equity and inclusion, and
to ensure they include people with disabilities into their national action plans. During this project, we engaged local NGO’s
Disability Development Services Program (DDSP) and Clear Cambodia. Throughout the project, we met regularly with our
partners to discuss better ways of working together and we sought and shared information such as improved access to health
care and disabled toilet and water filter designs.

22. WATER FOR WOMEN
Dilihat dari visi misi yang dipegang oleh wateraid Australia, program water for
women berusaha meningkatkan kesetaraan gender ini dengan meningkatkan air
bersih, sanitasi, dan kebersihan yang setara kepada semua gender dan akhirnya
terwujudlah misi Wateraid yaitu mengubah kehidupan dengan meningkatkan air
bersih, sanitasi, dan kebersihan yang aman bagi semua kalangan.
Dari kesuksesan yang didapatkan dikarenakan program ini didukung pemerintah
dan pemerintah Australia pun juga membantu program ini dengan bantuan
finansial agar setidaknya dalam jangka waktu 5 tahun permasalahan kesetaraan
gender ini dapat teratasi.

23. Dalam program air bersih, sanitasi, dan kebersihan yang berkelanjutan ini
WaterAid berusaha meningkatkan ketiga hal misinya tersebut kepada
daerah-daerah yang terpinggirkan. Dengan program ini wateraid
berusaha menyelesaikan misinya yaitu mengubah orang orang di daerah
terpinggir dengan meningkatkan air bersih, kebersihan, dan sanitasi.

Wateraid mengkampanyekan visi dan misinya kepada
para atlet muda untuk membangun kebiasaan
menggunakan air bersih. Dengan pemberian Pendidikan
kepada para atlet diharapkan semua fasilitas olahraga
memiliki air dan toilet yang bersih. Sehingga
menciptakan sanitasi yang baik.
