Women Can’t Win: Despite Making Educational Gains and Pursing High-Wage Majors, Women Still Earn Less than Men explores the complex set of reasons that have kept the gender wage gap in place. Even when comparing men and women who have equal educational attainment and work in the same occupation, women still earn only 92 cents for every dollar earned by men.

Ageism effects all of us – whether we are young, old, or somewhere in between. Ageism is a broad issue throughout the UK that exists in many different areas in society. In this webinar we will discuss this issue and the different areas of ageism that exist within our society including:
Language – Tackling everyday ageist language used to talk about older and younger people.
Cities – Making our cities more accessible and age-friendly.
Services – Promote independence by making financial and technology services easier, safer and fairer to use.
In his Bloomberg View column, economist Peter Orszag highlighted practical solutions to childhood obesity, which remains one of the greatest epidemics in our nation. In this slideshow, you can learn a little more about these initiatives and gain a better understanding of the epidemic and what you can do as a parent, teacher, or community member to combat it.
Join Matthew Linning for a facilitated discussion on the future challenges, opportunities and priorities for intergenerational volunteering. Drawing upon the findings of his recently published report ‘The contribution of volunteering to Scotland's health and wellbeing’ this workshop will discuss the impact of demographic change, volunteering trends and health and wellbeing benefits by age group to understand the likely impacts on intergenerational volunteering.
Building bridges across the generations: Embedding intergenerational work wit...Alison Clyde
This session summaries the effects of loneliness and isolation and will demonstrate the positive impacts that intergenerational practice has for older and younger people. The presenters will outline how Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and partners have driven forward a social movement that is combatting loneliness and isolation across our communities. In particular, the session will identify how key intergenerational initiatives and a multi-agency intergenerational strategy have made a significant difference to the lives of everyone involved. These initiatives are low cost/no cost.

Frugal Innovation - Frugal innovation or frugal engineering is the process of reducing the complexity and cost of a product and its production. moladi building technology for housing construction www.moladi.co.za a n example of formwork technology
This presentation is part of a 4 hours workshop called "Innovation Workshop –Games and Reality". During the workshop students from the Recanati School of business in Tel Aviv University thought of games and startup related games ideas and "fought" against each other discovering if their idea has a chance to become the great big next hit.
I really liked some of the ideas, for example: a game you need to run in real life in order to "charge" your character in the game. A game you "scan" your real pet and play with it in a virtual world, including a virtual dog fight with real dogs . A real cart driving game you play wearing Google glass. The glass allows you to see virtual power ups or virtual avatars to enhance your driving experience (did someone say zombies)
For me the workshop was really fun. I hope the students had fun as well and I do hope some of these ideas will become actual games.

To win in today's fast-paced and hyper-competitive business environment, companies must learn to collaborate and partner extensively to innovate cost-effectively and sustainably under severe resource constraints. In this engaging presentation, Navi will unveil a groundbreaking business paradigm: Frugal Innovation. Frugal innovation is the ability to actively engage internal and external partners to do more with less: that is, to co-create significantly more business and social value for the entire ecosystem while minimizing use of increasingly limited resources. Thousands of inventive firms in resource-constrained emerging markets like India, China, Africa, and Brazil apply frugal innovation techniques to co-develop with partners affordable and sustainable solutions that deliver more value to customers at lower cost. These innovators extensively leverage public, private, and non-profit partnerships throughout the entire product development cycle. In this keynote, Navi will vividly describe how frugal innovation is practiced today by leading firms worldwide, and show how you can apply new collaborative tools, techniques and mindset to deeply engage partners to address the needs of cost-conscious and eco-aware consumers worldwide.

Rapid Care Analysis - Oxfam's practical tool for local development programmes...Oxfam GB
Oxfam's work on care aims to find solutions to the challenge of providing effective care whilst also ensuring women's rights.
Oxfam has developed a Rapid Care Analysis (RCA) to assess context-specific patterns of unpaid household work and care of people. Designed to integrate into existing tools on livelihoods, food, security or vulnerability, it makes visible how care responsibility impacts women's time, health or mobility, and identifies practical interventions to help ensure that women can participate fully in and benefit equally from development programmes.

Gender in coffee farming systems: re-thinking the normalOnnoGiller
IITA and Mango Tree have started a co-creation partnership to better understand gender issues in coffee farming, and through a process involving experts at the national level and actors at the local level, the aim is to come up with a toolkit that can be used to approach gender in a sensitive way through outreach to farmers. This document will continuously be updated as the project progresses, so check back regularly for updates.
In the United States, 53 percent of all the roads are unpaved. That translates into 1.6 million miles of unpaved roadways most of which are gravel roads. Currently they are being exposed to increased amounts of agricultural and industrial traffic. Also the problem of fugitive dust causes the loss of fine, binding material which increases the amount of floating aggregate and the tendency to develop washboards or corrugations. With use, fine and course portions of the aggregate segregate which also diminishes road performance. As the aggregate sources have been depleted and reduced in quality, unpaved roads increasingly have performance and economic challenges. The use of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) on gravel roads helps to improve the overall performance and life. Past studies also show substantial dust reduction when RAP is included in the road surface. However no clear relationship or methodology has been established to understand the connection between the RAP percentage and performance.
Off side fabrication and modular construction is not new but, the way it is been done nowadays has a quantitative and qualitative impact. Reducing time and cost has been more achievable because of it.
