The document provides details about the development of several games created during game jams, including prototypes made in 5 days or less with limited assets. It notes that over 10 unique levels and 40-50 original assets were made for one prototype, while another game was created without an initial concept. The document shares positive reviews praising the games' co-op puzzles and hilarious physics-based gameplay, and notes that additional mechanics and references to other franchises were included.
6. Henning created the characters super hang-over on the 1st of January
Around 40 to 50 Assets were made from scratch for the Prototype
Assets re-used: One Robot in the background in one level (from O&S)
Unique Levels Designed: over 10 (but 5 were used for the prototype)
We had no time to create specular maps so we used 100% speculars on all platform
assets
Only 5 days for development
Pizzas destroyed: countless
Beers consumed: too many
Gamepads broken: 1
Bugs created: about as much as we killed
The thing that used up the most time both mechanic, design and graphic wise was
the seesaw and it’s only used in one level
Angry wives: 2 (?)

• Zookod was made without a concept-(sketch)
• Most of the old assets were thrown away
• There are around 3000 words of text in the game
• We tweaked the Unity physics system so much that we basically created your
own
• We have references to Star Wars, Firefly, Dr. Who, Austin Powers, Lovecraft,
Red Dwarf and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy in the game (to only name a
few)
• The 2.5 seconds Cutscene in the Garbage area was especially created to give
a nod to Star Wars <3
• Additional mechanics including bots
Rock Pocket Games currently consists of 10 very motivated and experienced team members. We have been developing mobile games since 2008 and just last year finished 7 mobile games for external clients alone. The last one being Mr. Melk Winter Games for the biggest Dairy Brand in Norway.
Shiftlings NM i Gameplay win
The whole Team worked on a project for the first time and created the prototype in 5 days all from scratch.
Shiftlings is actually the product of a game jam we won the Norwegian Championship in Gameplay in 2013 when we created the prototype in five days. The theme was size matters so we came up with the main mechanic. It was the first time our whole team worked as a whole on the same project
I found this picture on a site called computermuseum, which was a nice reminder how freaking old I am obviously are :p but anyway, this is a Philips Videopac G7000 my first big love. Until during one of our skiing vacations I discovered the joy that was arcades and I fell in love with galaga, Donkey Kong, Pole Position, Bugertime and Xevious. By that time my parents thought it would be smart decision for their wallet to buy me a NES

Shiftlings is set in space – on some distant moon, most probably..we are not sure..
The story behind the game is that Shiftlings is in fact a real time, reality TV show where our two main characters are, without knowing, the main attraction. The Show is produced by Zomegacorp Marketing and hosted by Zookod Neutrino. Zookod is not only bridging the different levels together and slowly reveals not only why the two janitors are doing what they are doing, he also comments in real time on what the players are doing.

The game is targeted at casual teens and families but it has been very obvious to us during showings of the game that every type of gamer loved playing it. Couples, girls, parents with children, strangers sat down together and played.

We aim to make a family friendly game that appeals to the whole family. After all adults in their mid 30s like us grew up with the Ratchet and Clank and Zelda as well and they are most likely looking to play something with their kids:
Sixty-two percent of gamers play games with others, either in-person or online. Seventy-eight percent of these gamers play with others at least one hour per week.
You can play the game on your own or with up to three family members and/or friends.

I did have to deal with all the things other girls mention in the industry. For example in this picture..people commented on the phone and that I should stick to a secretry job etc etc..or in another picture where we saw our whole team people were commenting on my boots and that they looked likey whore boots while they were discussing and trying to figure out who was who in the picture but you know what? I didn’t give a shit. I don’t care – and neither should you. Do your own thing and to what you want to do. In General, it is mostly gamers who comment in an unappropriate way.
There are other things that clearly show there is a general accepted notion when I constantly have to explain that I am part of the development team and not just there to smile and show the game. At least now visitors actually start asking directly if I am part of the developer team, however it is still funny that if any of my male co-workers are on location, they never get asked that question.
Guess what though, while it bugs me I don+t see it as a big problem for myself and in a way it made me ignorant to the actual problem.
