Aftermath
Analyze the learner
The classroom contains 22 students. The gender makeup of the class is 12 boys and 10 girls. The
ages of the students range from 11 to 12 years old in the 6th
grade. The class is somewhat racial
diverse. In class, there are 6 African Americans students, 3 Native American students, and 13
Caucasian students. The religious background of the class is made up of some from Christianity
or Agnostic. Students in this class learn through hands on and visual learning.
State Objective
Each student will understand the aftermath of Holocaust and the impact it has had on the
world through the use of WebQuest, group activities, and virtual world of Secondlife. The
students will do this with a 95% accuracy by the end of the day.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials
WebQuest: Students will use WebQuest to create knowledge of the aftermath of the Holocaust
PowerPoint: The students will use PowerPoint to assist in group project
SecondLife: Students will use SecondLife to explore modern day territories controlled by Nazis
Computers: Students will use class computers to assess in WebQuest, group projects, and
vitural worlds.
Utilize Media and Materials
The lesson will be mainly student centered. The teacher will start the day lesson by giving a
short lecture about the immediate and future impacts the Holocaust had on not only those
directly involved but the whole world. For there, students will use the computers to complete
the WebQuest of reporting the end of the Holocaust. Upon completions, the teacher split up
the class into five groups. Each group will be assigned a specific time throughout the Holocaust
to create a timeline. The timeline will be created through PowerPoint. The groups will present
the timelines in front of the class.The students will end the unit by exploring the territories
controlled by the Nazis on the virtual world of SecondLife. Any extra class time will be used to
complete any assignments from the unit.
2. Require Learner Participation
The students will participate on WebQuest. The students will engage in group project and
presentation. The students will ask questions.
Evaluate and Revise
The teacher will assess the students’ knowledge of the material through news articles created
through WebQuest. The teacher will walk around while students are working on group project
and listen to groups’ discussions. The teacher will also walk around during extra asking
individual students questions pertaining to the lesson. The teacher will assess the effectiveness
of the materials and media used and make appropriate changes for future instructions.
