- My job is to fill the next ¼ hour or so to get us a bit closer to playing with the vans. This is the 2nd of these Microlise events I’ve been involved with and, just a word of warning, but you’re likely to come away disappointed. Not with Microlise, not with the event and certainly not with Ben but with your own driving ability. Last time I was lucky enough to experience a hot lap with Ben and bloody hell! But I have to admit I was starting to think ‘Yeah, I can see the line he’s going to take! Maybe I could do this! Maybe there is room for another Brummie F1 driver to follow Nigel Mansell and then Ben told me we hadn’t actually started he lap (we were just driving out to the closed track) and boom – no I couldn’t do this. But despite my reality check it did get me thinking… How can he do that and I can’t? Well it’s all about skills isn’t it. The skills and aptitude that makes Ben one of the best drivers in the world. An aptitude that’s been tested and skills that have been developed. And, how difference is that from how we should be looking at our van drivers? Lot me just plant that thought in your mind while I pay the bills with a quick starter for 10 on Van Excellence
- seized 1.5 tonnes of tobacco with an estimated £200,000 duty evaded; a man from the Nottingham area has been arrested issued 106 fixed penalty notices with fines totalling over £18,000 for road traffic offences including 56 dangerously overweight vehicles potentially putting other road users at risk seized two vans loaded with non-duty paid alcohol including vodka and wine, with an estimated £7,000 duty evaded arrested a commercial driver for drink driving seized a car and four commercial vehicles being driven without insurance seized a van running on red diesel seized a commercial vehicle being driven without a licence.
