“Freelancing in America” (FIA) is the most comprehensive study of the independent workforce. Commissioned by Upwork and Freelancers Union, this study analyzes the size and impact of the freelance economy, as well as the motivations and challenges of this way of working. This year 53 percent of Gen Z workers freelanced—the highest independent workforce participation of any age bracket since FIA’s launch in 2014.

The Burson-Marsteller Age of Trump Technology Policy Survey
Research for The Burson-Marsteller Age of Trump Technology Policy Survey was conducted by Penn Schoen Berland (PSB) on behalf of Burson-Marsteller to explore attitudes and perceptions about the future of the technology industry. To meet these objectives, PSB conducted an online quantitative study from December 6th to December 13th, 2016 among Technology Elite (n=504) and General Public respondents (n=1000).
All Technology Elites are age 25+ with at least a college education, have a household income of $100,000+ in the coastal regions and $75,000+ in the heartland, live within 30 miles of a city with a significant technology industry presence reflecting a mix of established and start-up technology firms, and follow news about technology closely. The margin of error for the Technology Elites total sample is +/- 4.3% and larger for subgroups. The margin of error for the General Public total sample is +/- 3.00% and larger for subgroups.

Freelancing in New York is the first comprehensive measure of the independent workforce in New York City. Commissioned by Freelancers Union, Upwork, and the NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, this study surveyed 5,000 working adults in New York City. The study, launched in part to inform work at Freelancers Hub, the first City-funded effort providing dedicated coworking and training to freelancers, estimates that 1.3 million workers are freelancing — with an estimated annual economic impact of $31.4 billion in earnings from their freelance work.

Data was collected from groups of Generation Y employees of corporate institutions, freelancers, entrepreneurs, small business workers as well as students between the ages of 16-30. Participants in the research were asked to provide basic biographical data† and then answer a series of 15 questions which pertained to their beliefs and opinions about current and past experiences and habits. These were based around Political, Economic, Social and Technological topics.

Telefonica Global Millennial Survey - 2014 United States Fact Sheet
In 2013, Telefónica carried out the largest ever survey of Millennials, creating a new understanding of the beliefs and motivations of the Millennials generation. In 2014, the survey was updated exploring the opinions of 6,702 Millennials, aged 18-30 across 18 countries in three regions.
This year’s survey found that today’s 18-30 year-olds are largely satisfied with their lives and decidedly optimistic about their prospects for the future. Nowhere is that optimism more evident than in Latin America where Millennials have exceptionally high hopes for their own future and their country’s future.
Seventy-two percent of Latin American Millennials think their country’s best days are ahead, compared to only 51 percent of U.S. Millennials and 50 percent of Western European respondents who share that view. Millennials also have an entrepreneurial mindset: 72 percent agree they have opportunities in their countries to become an entrepreneur or develop and bring an idea to market.

"Freelancing in America: 2015" is the most comprehensive measurement of the independent labor force in the U.S. How many Americans are freelancing? Why? And what is the outlook for freelancing in America? This study, conducted by an independent research firm and commissioned in partnership by Upwork and the Freelancers Union, surveyed over 7,000 U.S. workers to answer these questions and more. Results showed that approaching 54 million people did freelance work in the past year, driven first and foremost by the lure of a more flexible lifestyle.

Full-time employees, students most upbeat about job market
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Forty-three percent of Americans say it is a good time to
find a quality job. While this reading is similar to the 40% to 45% recorded in
2016 so far, it is on the high end of Gallup's trend since 2001. The percentage
saying it is a good time to find a quality job has ranged from a low of 8% in 2009
and 2011 to a high of 48% in January 2007.
Americans' perceptions of the U.S. job market bottomed out after the Great
Recession but steadily rebounded from 2012 to 2014, reaching a recent high of
45% in January 2015. Since then, the percentage saying now is a good time to
find a quality job has hovered around 40%, similar to levels seen in 2006 and
2007.

The latest Bureau of Labor Statistics employment report released on June 3
raised concerns about the health of the job market. That report came out while
the latest update on Gallup's quality job question was in the field from June 1-5.
An analysis of responses by day of interview shows that Americans were just as
positive about the job market after the report's release as they were before it.
Employed Adults More Optimistic Than Nonworking Adults About Job Market
Views of the job market vary significantly by employment status. While half of
employed Americans (51%) say it is a "good time" to find a quality job, only a
third of adults who are not currently working (33%) say it is a ripe time for job
seekers.
In 2013, employed and unemployed adults' views of the job market were similar.
Both working and nonworking adults have grown more optimistic about the job
market, but confidence has picked up much more among the employed.

Employed Americans' more positive evaluation of the job market is consistent
with employed Americans' solid gains in perceptions of hiring in their workplaces
over the past seven years.
Full-Time Workers, Students Most Positive About Job Market
Confidence in the job market also varies by subgroup within the category of
those who are employed. Full-time employed Americans are much more likely
than part-time employees to say it is a good time to find a quality job, 50% vs.
39%, respectively. These data are based on combined responses from 2015
and 2016 so far.
Students (51%), who may expect to land a job upon completion of their
education, seem to share the same optimism for the job market as those who
already have a full-time job. Meanwhile, 36% of unemployed job seekers say it is
a good time to find a job.
Optimism is lower among other nonworking adults, including the retired (31%),
disabled (29%) and the unemployed who are not actively looking ...

Creating effective policy on cross-border data flows is a priority for any nation that critically depends on its interactions with the rest of the world through the free flow of capital, goods, knowledge and people. Now more than ever, cross-border data flows are key predicates for countries and regions that wish to compete in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and thrive in the post COVID-19 era.
Despite this reality, we are witnessing a proliferation of policies around the world that restrict the movement of data across borders, which is posing a serious threat to the global digital economy, and to the ability of nations to maximize the economic and social benefits of data-reliant technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain.
We hope that countries wishing to engage in cross-border data sharing can feel confident in using the Roadmap as a guide for designing robust respective domestic policies that retain a fine balance between the benefits and risks of data flows.

The Multiple Effects of Business Planning on New Venture Performance
ABSTRACT
We investigate the multiple effects of writing a business plan prior to start-up on new venture performance. We argue that the impact of business plans depends on the purpose for and circumstances in which they are being used. We offer an empirical methodology which can account for these multiple effects while disentangling real impact effects from selection
effects. We apply this to English data where we find that business plans promote employment growth. This is found to be due to the impact of the plan and not selection effects.

On the 13th October 2016 His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the ninth monarch of his line, passed away. This was a cause of great grief to the people of Thailand. Before long his subjects were queuing in huge numbers to pay their respects to his body, a phenomenon that has continued for the many succeeding months. Now, with just over a year having passed, the Royal Cremation Ceremony is to take place on 26th October 2017.
On such a momentous occasion it is important that the admirable demonstration of gratitude for all that His Majesty has given to the nation, should be supplemented by the effort to express that gratitude by carrying on his good works for the longlasting benefit of our country. Last year I delivered a Dhamma discourse which encouraged this effort, and it has now been published as ธรรมของพระราชา; this book is its English translation.
I would like to express my appreciation for all the people with the faith and devotion to Dhamma, and with the best of wishes for the nation in mind, who have contributed to the publication of this book for free distribution. General Population Census of the Kingdom of Cambodia 2019
Provisional Population Totals of GPCC 2019 show that the total de facto population of Cambodia on March 3, 2019 stood at 15,288,489. This is the population that spent the night at the
place of enumeration, thereby excluding those that were abroad, even if only briefly. The total population has increased from 13,395,682 in the 2008 Census. Thus, the population has grown by 1,892,807 persons, which represents 14.1%, over the period of 11 years from 2008 to 2019. The male population was 7,418,577 (48.5%) and the female population stood at 7,869,912 (51.5%). The average size of households was stable since 2008 at 4.6 persons.
The first census conducted in Cambodia in 1962 after independence from France, counted a total population of 5.7 million. The demographic situation of the nation changed dramatically after this first census, because of war and civil unrest. The country carried out no further total counts until
1998. But demographers did undertake some population estimations for the purpose of planning and policy development. A Demographic Survey 1979-1980 estimated the total Cambodia population at approximately 6.6 million. Later, the Socio-Economic Survey of 1994 led by NIS estimated the total population of Cambodia at 9.9 million. In March 1996, the NIS conducted another Demographic Survey covering 20,000 households, which estimated the total population of Cambodia at 10.7 million. Next, the total population determined by the 1998 Census was 11.4 million. The NIS also undertook an Inter-Censal Survey in 2004 and found the population to have increased to 12.8 million. Following a pattern of steady increases, the 2008 Census obtained a result of 13.4 million and after an update by the Inter-Censal Survey of 2013 this figure rose to 14.7 million. Now the provisional result of the 2019 Census, sets the total de facto population at 15.3 million. Obviously, the final census result may differ slightly from this figure.

However, when performing real-time analytics, timestamps should be first class citizens and we need rich time semantics to get the most out of our data. M Capital Group (“MCG”) expects to see demand and the changing evolution of supply, facilitated through institutional investment rotation out of offices and into work from home (“WFH”), while the ever-expanding need for data storage as global internet usage expands, with experts predicting 5.3 billion users by 2023. These market factors will be underpinned by technological changes, such as progressing cloud services and edge sites, allowing the industry to see strong expected annual growth of 13% over the next 4 years.
Whilst competitive headwinds remain, represented through the recent second bankruptcy filing of Sungard, which blames “COVID-19 and other macroeconomic trends including delayed customer spending decisions, insourcing and reductions in IT spending, energy inflation and reduction in demand for certain services”, the industry has seen key adjustments, where MCG believes that engineering cost management and technological innovation will be paramount to success.
MCG reports that the more favorable market conditions expected over the next few years, helped by the winding down of pandemic restrictions and a hybrid working environment will be driving market momentum forward.
