The Problem Of Juvenile Delinquency
Stephanie R. Hawkins, Philip w. Graham, Jason Williams, and Margaret A. Zahn provide us with a
cornucopia of information pertaining to Resilient Girls on the Girls Study Group. In the year 2004
girls made up thirty percent of all juvenile arrest. However, the question still remains whether it is an
increase in juvenile delinquency or society s response to girl s behavior. In order to find out the
answers to these questions the office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency prevention created the Girls
Study Group. To fight the statistics and improve the lives of girls in danger of juvenile delinquency.
Resiliency is the power to be able to deal with a tremendous amount of stress and negative situations.
Resiliency plays key role in the prevention and intervention of programs out there. Scientists to this
day still have not figured out why some kids may be resilient and not others. In the end certain factors
may or may not have the same impact on others concerning gender. This reading provides you with
some Intel that has been discovered in research to suggest why some girls may be protected from
delinquency.
Resiliency is best defined as human s ability to be able to adapt and learn in a negative atmosphere.
Situations that they might survive may be being abused or neglected, witnessing violence, or living in
poverty that could in the end lead them a life in delinquency. The majority of research today, focuses
on the negative factors that contributed to making people

Action Research in Od
ACTION RESEARCH ORG. MIRRORING IN OD
Action research is a reflective process of progressive problem solving led by individuals working with
others in teams or as part of a community of practice to improve the way they address issues and solve
problems. Action research can also be undertaken by larger organizations or institutions, assisted or
guided by professional researchers, with the aim of improving their strategies, practices, and
knowledge of the environments within which they practice. Kurt lewin described action research as a
comparative research on the conditions and effects of various forms of social action and research

Data are again gathered from the client system so that progress can be determined and necessary
adjustments in learning activities can be made. Minor adjustments of this nature can be made in
learning activities via Feedback Loop B (see Figure)
[pic]
.Major adjustments and reevaluations would return the OD project to the first, or planning, stage for
basic changes in the program. The action research model shown in Figure 1 closely follows Lewin s
repetitive cycle of planning, action, and measuring results. It also illustrates other aspects of Lewin s
general model of change. As indicated in the diagram, the planning stage is a period of unfreezing, or
problem awareness. The action stage is a period of changing, that is, trying out new forms of behavior
in an effort to understand and cope with the system s problems. (There is inevitable overlap between
the stages, since the boundaries are not clear cut and cannot be in a continuous process). The results
stage is a period of refreezing, in which new behaviors are tried out on the job and, if successful and
reinforcing, become a part of the system s repertoire of problem solving behavior.Action research is
problem centered, client centered, and action oriented. It involves the client system in a diagnostic,
active learning, problem finding, and problem solving process. Data are not simply returned in the
form of a written report but

Examples Of Evil In Othello
Pure evil is like a cancerous plague that harms all those who come upon it. In the tragic play Othello
by William Shakespeare, Iago is a character that represents pure evil a malignant cancer to all those
around him. His evil is exposed through his choice of words, his ability to manipulate people, and his
opportunistic ways.
First, Iago s evil is shown through his choice of words that demonstrate his vulgarity and his sinister
intentions. Iago s language is extremely base and forward; he does show any remorse or sympathy in
any situation. For example, Desdemona has recently married Othello; when Desdemona s father,
Brabantio, hears the news he becomes enraged. To make the situation much worse, Iago says to ...

An example of his evil imagery is when he says, It is engendered. Hell and night/Must bring this
monstrous birth to the worlds light. (Act 1, sc.iii, lines 396 397). His voracity is seen in this quote; he
calls upon hell and night to give birth to his evil plan. The way he uses the word, hell and night,
associate him with evil which derives from the word devil. Another example that proves Iago s evil
imagery is when he says, Divinity of hell!/When devils will the blackest sins put on. (Act 2,sc.iii, lines
340 341). In this quote, Iago, once again calls upon hell but this time describes it as divine. Iago s
sinister thoughts are of evil essence because he calls upon the blackest of sins to aid him in his evil
quest. Thus, Iago s choice of words prove his sinister intentions; which also
include his ability to manipulate people.
Iago s evil is also demonstrated by his ability to manipulate people and situations through his words
and through his actions. The first victim to fall under Iago s manipulative spell is the half witted
Roderigo. Iago recognizes that Roderigo is consumed by lust for Desdemona and would go to the
extremes to make her his own. Iago convinces Roderigo that the only way to win Desdemona s heart
is to give her money; ...Put money in thy purse... (Act 1, sc. iii, line 339). However, Iago is able to
manipulate Roderigo s infatuation and make himself a profit by taking the money intended for

Homeland Security And Border Security
The concept of border security in the U.S. shares a complex and ever changing relationship with
global economics, international crime, and terrorism. In this context border security includes the
protection of not only land borders, but also sea and air ports of entry. The relationship between
federal, state and local authorities makes for a unique operation that must be ever changing and
evolving to meet new and different threats. This massive undertaking falls directly under the
Department of Homeland Security. Their mission calls on the agency to prevent the illegal flow of
people and goods across U.S. air, land, and sea borders while expediting the safe flow of lawful travel

Clearly there have been no successful airline hijackings that resulted like 9/11 and that being the new
standard of achievement we are doing quite well. What we must focus on is the prevention of
something larger and possibly even more difficult, several coordinated small scale attacks.
Unfortunately there is no one size fits all plan that will work for land, sea and air borders. Each, as
outlined previously, pose unique and difficult challenges. One of the most pressing issues to border
security is illegal immigration. Not only is it a drain on the economy through entitlement programs but
is a security concern because we just don t know who is coming across the border. As a country one
solution is to cut off the incentive to illegally enter the country. Just the fact that you are very unlikely
to be caught much less deported for entering illegally is reason enough to sneak across the border.
Throw in the free medical, food stamps, housing assistance, and education along with the Holy Grail
of potential amnesty leading to citizenship and it only makes sense that someone struggling in Latin
American would do anything to get in. What we must work on is a working system for legal
immigration not the system of limited work visas, exile requests and family reunification requests that
we are working with now. We can also work with our neighbor to the south Mexico to continue to
stem the flow of narcotics as well as working

My Job Outlook Of Physical Therapy Field Essay
With the job outlook of the physical therapy field being expected to grow by 34 percent by 2024,
faster than the average occupation, the average annual wage at a whopping $84,020, paid sick and
vacation days and the flexible work environment, this seems like the perfect profession to enter.
Having a career in physical therapy can be very rewarding because a physical therapist gets to watch
as his or her patients improve every appointment through treatment. Unfortunately, this is not always
the case in this profession. There are many disadvantages, and knowing these will help anyone
interested in this field have a better understanding of how tough pursuing a career in this field can be.
Being a physical therapist can be a rewarding experience and have amazing benefits. However, it is
important to be aware of the disadvantages: the extreme amount of education, physical demands,
emotional demands and the continuation of education requirements. Physical therapists are required to
complete at least six years or higher of education before work begins. This means that a master s
degree or a bachelor s degree must be achieved. Only a few colleges or universities offer master s
programs, therefore a student must enter a doctoral program to attain this profession. Acquiring a
Doctor of Physical Therapy degree requires three years of education only after receiving a bachelor s
degree. Most students join residency programs that can last anywhere from nine months to three years

Florence Nightingale, Joseph Lister, And Edward Jenner
How did medical professionals have the knowledge and professionalism necessary to do their jobs?
Three individuals improved how medicine is practiced and the precautions to take. Hippocrates once
said, It s far more important to know the person the disease has than what disease the person has. The
three pioneers of the medical field Florence Nightingale, Joseph Lister, and Edward Jenner changed
the way medicine is practiced today. Firstly, Florence Nightingale was born in Florence, Italy on the
12th of May in 1820. She had a very wealthy family. When Florence was sixteen years old on
February 7, 1837, she heard the voice of God calling her to carry out some special work. As she had
the want to help people, she was lead to believe that God wanted her to be a nurse. Being a nurse was
unusual for the upper class because nurses were known to come from poor families. The want of
becoming a nurse never went away so she went to Kaiserwerth to nurse training (James). In addition,
Florence actually lead a team of 38 nurses to staff an overseas hospital of the British army during the
Crimean War. It was reported that there were unsanitary conditions that got the public concerned, so
the secretary requested for a team of nurses to provide help. When Florence and her team arrived,
conditions were extremely worse than reported. The wards were covered in sewage and patients were
scattered everywhere. The rags that the patients were covered in blood and excretion soiled in them.

Abortion And The Issue Of Abortion
The important ways of looking at the issue of abortion are most easily categorized into five major
points, legal precedence, birth control issues, human rights, religion and when life begins. Based on
both empirical and moral claims, a wide spectrum of views supporting either more or less legal
restriction on abortions has emerged in America. While advocacy groups define the issue through its
constitutionality and its moral views represented by their constituents, politicians define the issue by
party lines, generally with liberals as pro choice and conservatives as pro life. The media defines the
issue morally, presenting to the nation the views of various pro life and pro choice organizations with
little empirical evidence from both sides. The various positions that can be taken on this issue can be
divided by empirical and moral assumptions to more clearly analyze the particulars of this heated
topic. However, the issue focuses in on the basic question; should there be more or less laws
governing abortion?
Before delving deeper into the history or current debates over an issue like abortion, it is important to
look simply at the fact of its existence in the United States. According to studies released in 2005 by
the Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health (PRCH) and The Guttmacher Institute, there were
1.29 million abortions performed in this country. Research by the same group shows that in 1994,
approximately half of all pregnancies in the United States

A Room Of One s Own And Terry Eagleton Analysis
There are many different theories you can look for when reading literature. You have five of Terry
Eagleton s theories which are reader s response, feminism, psychological view, and historical, and
formalism. There is Nietzsche s theory where he believes everything is a metaphor, everything can be
interpreted differently by the reader. Emerson s theory is transidlism and existentialism. Transidlism is
when someone will accept that there are miracles in the world. Existentialism is when someone doesn
t believe there are miracles. The last theory is the chaos theory where everything is connected to
everything, one thing sets off a chain reaction, and the whole world is affected by it. You can see these
different theories in Virginia Woolf s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, this is how she thought the life for women would be like in the sixteenth century, any
women born with a talent would end up being laughed up, mocked and ending their lives like the
fictional character Judith. A highly gifted girl who had tried to use her gift for poetry would have been
so thwarted and hindered by other people, so tortured and pulled asunder by her own contrary
instincts, that she must have lost her health and sanity to a certainty (Woolf).
Finally you notice Emerson s theory of transidlism which is someone who believes in miracles. Woolf
believes that there can be miracles for women. For my belief is that if we live another century or so I
am taking of the common life which is the real life and not of the little separate lives which we live as
individuals and have five hundred a year each of us and rooms of our own; if we have the habit of
freedom and the courage to write exactly what we think; if we escape a little from the common sitting
room and see human beings not always in their relation to each other but in relation to reality; and the
sky, too, and the trees or whatever it may be in themselves; if we look past Milton s hogey, for no
human being should shut out the view; if we face the fact, for it is a fact, that there is no arm to cling
to, but that we go alone and that our relation is to the world of reality and not only to the world of men

The article discusses the environmental issues that Australia faces as a result of numerous companies
emitting greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. Thanks to that, a negative externality occurs
because the production of goods and services in Australia has a major effect upon a third party. For
example, a company is set up next to a residential area; this will have a negative effect on the residents
living in that region. For this reason the Australian government is deciding whether to impose taxes on
carbon emissions for the worst polluters
Figure 1 shows that the marginal private costs of the Australian firms are below the marginal social
costs, the pollution created has caused an extra cost to the society, such as respiratory ... Show more

Welfare Loss In figure 2, the deadweight burden had been reduced, because the tax is not identical to
the external cost, therefore the externality has not been eliminated, but it is less than previously when
there was no government intervention.
Although taxes are seen as a way of making polluters pay, there are some problems with this solution.
First, the Australian government will find it very difficult to measure accurately the pollution created
by firms and give a value to it, in which it can be regained by tax. Second, it is also very hard to
identify which firms are polluting and to what extent are they responsible for the pollution. Third, it is
often argued that tax do not actually stop the pollution from taking place. Furthermore, putting taxes
on those firms will lead to inflation because they have higher costs to pay for, and to compensate for
that, they will increase consumer prices.
The shortage in domestic investment could lead to the closure of many firms or movement abroad and
that will doubtless cause unemployment in Australia. Furthermore, while Australia imposes this tax to
help alleviate a global concern, it doesn t necessarily mean its competitors will and the extra
production costs for Australian firms will give it an unfair disadvantage. The

Stephen Dunn s Poem Sweetness
After reading the Elements of Poetry and the six poems it becomes clear that there are signs of the
fourteen elements within the six poems. The Element of Poetry is what has helped me understand the
fourteen elements within poetry. The first and most important method of analyzing a poem is look at
the way the poem stanzas are structured, which are the series of lines within a poem. For example a
poem with two lines per stanza is known as a couplet, where a poem with eight lines per stanza is
known as an octave. The structure is what helps sets up the overall organization of the lines and the
patterns of sound within a poem. Take Stephen Dunn poem Sweetness for example, his poem is made
up of ten stanzas and within each of the stanzas there is three line making his poem s structure a
tercert. Another example of a poem s structure is a poem written by Charles Wright, in his poem Clear

Christopher Columbus Research Papers
Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer and navigator. He was born in 1451 in Genoa, Italy. His
first voyage was to the Atlantic Ocean in 1476, where he almost died. He participated in several other
expeditions to Africa. In 1492, he left Spain on the Santa Maria with The Pinta and The Nina beside
him. He was the son of a weaver and went to sea as a teenager. When sailing the Atlantic Ocean, his
ship burned and he had to swim to Portugal, where he eventually married Felipa Perestrelo. They had
one son in 1480 and his name was Diego. His wife died soon after Diego was born and Columbus
moved to Spain. He had a second son, Fernando, who was born out of wedlock in 1488 with Beatriz
Enriquez de Arana. Muslim domination of the trade routes through the Middle East makes travel to
India and China more difficult. Columbus estimated the Erath to be a sphere. While experts disagreed
with Columbus on matters of distance, they thought that a voyage westward from England would turn
into a water route.
FIRST VOYAGE TO THE NEW WORLD:

Self Discovery in American Beauty and Hermann Hesse s Demian
After Jane Burnham s first meeting with Ricky Fitts in American Beauty she responds by saying, He s

Jane s dream, is this her unconscious wish for pleasure or happiness...to be like Ricky Fitts? There
seems to be a theme running through the movie American Beauty where we see people looking to
other people as a source to receive their own sense of confidence, or ultimately, happiness. This is also
evident in Demian by Hermann Hesse when we see Emil Sinclair seeking out Max Demian. This

The description of Max Demian given by Emil Sinclair is right on with that of Ricky Fitts: He seemed
too superior and detached, his manner too provocatively confident...I can only say that he was in every
respect different from all the others, was entirely himself, with a personality all his own which made
him noticeable even though he did his best not to be noticed... (Hesse 27). This quality is seen by
Lester Burnham with his first encounter with Ricky Fitts when they are smoking marijuana. Ricky s
catering boss comes outside and catches him not working and remarks, I m not paying you to do
whatever it is you are doing out here. Ricky replies spontaneously without any hesitation, Fine, don t
pay me. I quit so you don t have to pay me. So, leave me alone. Lester turns to Ricky and says, I think
you just became my personal hero! Lester is never the same again.
A growing sense of confidence is a theme found in American Beauty and Demian. After hanging out
with Max Demian, Emil gains the confidence to tell Franz Kromer he will not bring his sister for him
to meet and also tells his mother that he stole money from her piggy bank. In American Beauty, we see
Lester Burnham slowly open up and he begins to speak his mind, instead of being afraid and keeping
his mouth shut. An example of this is when he has a dispute with his wife Carol about their sexual
frustrations. He says: This hasn t been a marriage for years, but you were happy as

Musical Theatre Comparison Essay
Musicals and Opera are both very similar forms of Musical Theatre that involve singing, acting and
dancing. But they also have important differences. Musicals and Opera differ in the importance of the
words, the number of people attending each year, and the style of music they use. Many people enjoy
both kinds of musical theatre, both in performing them and being in the audience. It is a form of
expression enjoyed by all generations. In musicals the dialogue and the lyrics in songs are extremely
important to getting the message across. Shows are known for their witty one liners and for telling the
story during iconic songs. It would be extremely difficult to understand what is happening if you
watched a musical that was written in another language. This is quite the opposite from an Opera, the
majority of operas are written in Italian, German or French. For someone who speaks a language other

It is important to monitor your access points. There are precautions Party Plates may implement when
using public accesses: ▪ Avoid connecting to unknown public access point. ▪ Never use public open
networks (no lock symbol as shown above) to access your banking, credit card or other sensitive sites.
▪ Always establish a VPN connection as soon as you connect to the Wi Fi Network when connecting
for company work (this help protect your computer by securing your data and enabling a firewall on
your computer). Apple s iPhone and iPad has gained a large share of the smart phone and computer
tablet market. Mitchell (2011) noted that competitors have released their own versions, and almost
overnight, a new technological commodity has become a competing force in the business world.
Apple has introduced many innovative features and has redefined the mobile device and computer
tablet landscape forcing the competition to evolve and play catch up in many cases (DesRosiers,

India is traditionally a country of tea having consumed 10 times the amount of tea than coffee in 2011.
Originally sold in mom and pop Shops and later in supermarkets, coffee culture began to take shape
when Café Coffee Day opened its first store in 1996. Originally founded by V.G Siddhartha as a way
to maintain and further his previous business venture of Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company
Limited. He originally established internet cafés under the brand name of Coffee Day Fresh, but by
2000 the internet became more available to the masses. This lade to a shift in tactics leading to a path
of coffee dominance. Due to a nonexistent bar culture Café Coffee Day, or CCD, quickly became a
place for people to safely meet for a drink. CCD stared to target the Indian youth by becoming a place
to hang out with friends. CCD stores opened in urban areas with large youth populations. CCD would
specifically target campuses, malls, and IT business areas. They also hit a windfall with the growing
dating culture making their establishments an excellent place to have secret meet ups. With each of
these factors in place they rapidly hit their goal of seeding café culture in multiple cities. Continuing
to push their target demographic, CCD would often align themselves with youth culture. They would
sell concert tickets, host contests and appear in movies. They would also push their Baristas to become
friends with regular clients. This push worked well, with approximately 60% of their

Christian Social Teaching Analysis
Christian Social Teaching is about helping humanity with political, economic, and social issues and
coming up with solutions. This event/movie showed how easy human rights can be taken away and
violated. The experiment was supposed to last two weeks and it ended up only lasting six days.
Students from Stanford University volunteered to be in this experiment. They were paid fifteen dollars
a day and half of them was the prison guards and half of them was the prisoners. When the experiment
started, everything was going well. The prisoners knew that the guards could not touch them because
of a contract they signed. Things escalated very quickly when the guards started to abuse their power.

How to Add Value to the Hiring Process by Improving...
Annotation
This is a review of an article which discusses the different techniques of hiring the right, mainly in this
case, senior executives. This article aims to provide leaders with guidance on how to add value to the
hiring process by improving their recruiting diagnostics. The article focuses on a concept which is
referred to as fit and unpacks. This concept breaks down into sub categories which are, fit with the
job, fit with the leader, fit with the team, and fit with the organization. Instead of the traditional
approach of recruiting and assessing candidates based on the current needs of the organization, this
concept also addresses the current and emerging talent requirements. The article also considers the
types of questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If leaders follow the techniques discussed in the article, they can avoid many expensive consequences
of hiring unfit candidates.
The article discusses three fronts on which being fit is composed of. One of the fronts is being fit for
the job. The list of candidates will of course be able to meet the technical demands of the job as well
as have the skills, experience, and be on the right career path but these are expected credentials. The
leader must be able to look past these credentials and focus on the depth of the candidate s experience.
A good way to do this would be to focus on the extent to which they have demonstrated the qualities
they talk about in their past work activities. Focusing on just what the candidate says they have done
and the qualities they have can distract a leader from what is really important such as the quality and
performance of their previous work.
Another topic discussed which I agree with is whether the candidate is entrepreneurial or is more
comfortable improving something which already exist. The leader must decide what they are looking
for. If I am looking for someone to come in a break up the current system then someone with more
entrepreneurial traits would be the right candidate. If I was looking for someone who could improve
the current system, then I would look for the candidate who has past experience doing so.
The article refers to asking

The Effect Of Kermadec Arc Volcanic System Between...
Recommended area for further investigation and why
Samples were dredged and analysed from four sites along the Kermadec Arc volcanic system between
Macauley Island in the North to Rumble II West in the South. As a result of chemical of analyses of
the rocks, the two sites recommended for further investigation are in the southern part of the arc where
the Brothers (site 3) and Rumble II West (site 4) volcanoes are located. Both these volcanoes have
large calderas which are associated with hydrothermal activity, and Brothers Volcano has erupted
silicic rocks which are also associated with hydrothermal activity (Nichols, 2009 p271). Hydrothermal
activity and the sulphur rich fluids generated can be a source of sulphide minerals for lead, zinc and
copper.
Rock types found at Brothers Volcano were analysed as dacite and rhyolite, both of which erupt from
silicic magmas. The graphs of major and minor elements for site 3 showed distinctly different values
compared to the other samples, indicating a different magma chemistry at this site. The plot of the
minor trace elements showed high barium levels. Barite is the most common sulphate material
associated with barium and is also commonly sourced in hydrothermal processes along with lead, zinc
and copper. Numerous surveys have discovered active hydrothermal systems and Brothers volcano is
considered to have the most active hydrothermal activity in the Kermadec Arc (Embley et al., 2012)
(Gns.cri.nz, 2015). As described the

Theme Of Insanity In Gothic Literature
Insanity Gothic literature can be composed of several themes depending on the purpose the writers
intend to convey. William Faulkner, Edgar Allen Poe, and Richard Matheson are virtuosos within the
realm of gothic literature. They have perfected the ability to blend fiction and horror through the use
of certain gothic elements. Through their many works, such as A Rose for Emily, Prey, and The Black
Cat, the authors implement numerous themes regarding violence and entrapment existing in both the
metaphorical and literal state. The authors successfully apply these elements in order to illustrate their
belief that loneliness and grief can motivate inhumane actions, further progressing the state of
insanity. Among the multitude of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her father (whom is recently deceased) and her boyfriend (Homer) have aided in her social
deprivation. As a result, she is empty and lost, which provokes her to buy the rat poison, the arsenic
(Faulkner 1071). While the town may not interact with Emily, they are still bewildered by her earlier
purchase. The townspeople let their curiosity consume them and following the passing of Emily, they
enter her abandoned house. Upon uncovering that what was left of [Homer], rotted (Faulkner 1074) in
her bed, they acknowledge Emily had poisoned Homer in an effort to relieve her loneliness; which, in
return, cost Homer his life. Even though violence may not be the only element present in these short
stories, it does reflect the length at which people are willing to go in order to acquire what they desire.
Similarly to violence, entrapment is another overarching theme prevalent within these literary works.

Beta measures the volatility, or systematic risk, of a security or a portfolio in comparison to the market
as a whole. A beta of 1 indicates that the security s price will move with the market. A beta less than 1,
means that the security s price will be less volatile than the market. A beta greater than 1 indicates that
the security s price will be more volatile than the market. R2 is a statistical measure that represents the
percentage of a fund or security s movements that can be explained by movements in a benchmark
index. In simple terms it is a goodness of fit line, and the values range from 0 to 1. A R2 of 1 means
that all movements of a security are completely explained by movements in the index. A high R2
(between .85 and 1) indicates the fund s performance patterns have been in line with the index. A fund
with a low R2 (.70 or less) doesn t act much like the index. Our R2s are low because the company

The Current Issues Involving Wind Farms and Wildlife
Introduction and Background: Wind energy has been one of the greatest developments in the field of
renewable energy in the last several years. Wind farms, based off of energy production facts, are
pivotal in our society, to the continued push to reduce fossil fuel usage and greenhouse gas emissions.
To the untrained eye, they seem as though they are too good to be true; a cheaper form of energy that
also emits less pollution than traditional forms of energy production (find a source for this) sounds
perfect, right? However, there has been growing tension between the wind energy industry and
environmental groups as the Obama administration continues pushing for more renewable energy

Reported again by the Wilson journal of Ornithology, the amount of deaths to birds caused by factors
other than wind turbines are as follows: flying into power lines (an estimated death count of 175
million per year, while electrocuting an estimated tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands more),
poisoning by misapplied pesticides (which causes an estimated 72 million deaths), hitting
communication towers (causes nearly 6.6 million deaths), and lastly as many as one million birds die
in oil and gas industry fluid waste pits every year (Negin). With the toll of birds dying from impacts
with wind turbines, one would think there would protection policies in place to lessen the upward

Mango Street affects her at first in a bad way. Her disapproval is proven by her thought, I knew then I

medium choice is quite new and their collage is quite extraordinary, its basically a sculpture of small

trouble and risk. My aim of writing you this letter is to share with you and seek your guidance and

A Personal Research Paper On Sas Advanced Analytics Essay
A Personal Research Paper on SAS Advanced Analytics
Fact and data based decision making is a crucial element for success in today s ultra competitive
business world. Many companies employ a multitude of analysts and statisticians to gather, organize
and evaluate the mounds of data collected through various information systems. Late into the
twentieth century companies finally halted the ancient ritual of storing data in basement file cabinets
and began to rely on information technology systems to store enormous amounts of data on computer
servers. Large amounts of data was being collected and stored but businesses lacked an effective way
to utilize the data. During the same time period, numerous emerging technologies in computer science
promised to enable the practical use of large amounts of data. SAS, originally referred to as Statistical
Analysis Systems, is a company whose purpose is to create a way for users of its technology to access
and utilize large amounts of data for analytical decision making. SAS has made this possible through
the creation of variety products and services that can manage a business s data and customize its

The Problem OfJuvenile Delinquency Stephanie R. Hawkins, Philip w. Graham, Jason Williams, and Margaret A. Zahn provide us with a cornucopia of information pertaining to Resilient Girls on the Girls Study Group. In the year 2004 girls made up thirty percent of all juvenile arrest. However, the question still remains whether it is an increase in juvenile delinquency or society s response to girl s behavior. In order to find out the answers to these questions the office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency prevention created the Girls Study Group. To fight the statistics and improve the lives of girls in danger of juvenile delinquency. Resiliency is the power to be able to deal with a tremendous amount of stress and negative situations. Resiliency plays key role in the prevention and intervention of programs out there. Scientists to this day still have not figured out why some kids may be resilient and not others. In the end certain factors may or may not have the same impact on others concerning gender. This reading provides you with some Intel that has been discovered in research to suggest why some girls may be protected from delinquency. Resiliency is best defined as human s ability to be able to adapt and learn in a negative atmosphere. Situations that they might survive may be being abused or neglected, witnessing violence, or living in poverty that could in the end lead them a life in delinquency. The majority of research today, focuses on the negative factors that contributed to making people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Action Research inOd ACTION RESEARCH ORG. MIRRORING IN OD Action research is a reflective process of progressive problem solving led by individuals working with others in teams or as part of a community of practice to improve the way they address issues and solve problems. Action research can also be undertaken by larger organizations or institutions, assisted or guided by professional researchers, with the aim of improving their strategies, practices, and knowledge of the environments within which they practice. Kurt lewin described action research as a comparative research on the conditions and effects of various forms of social action and research leading to social action that uses a spiral of steps, each of which is composed of a circle of ... Minor adjustments of this nature can be made in learning activities via Feedback Loop B (see Figure) [pic] .Major adjustments and reevaluations would return the OD project to the first, or planning, stage for basic changes in the program. The action research model shown in Figure 1 closely follows Lewin s repetitive cycle of planning, action, and measuring results. It also illustrates other aspects of Lewin s general model of change. As indicated in the diagram, the planning stage is a period of unfreezing, or problem awareness. The action stage is a period of changing, that is, trying out new forms of behavior in an effort to understand and cope with the system s problems. (There is inevitable overlap between the stages, since the boundaries are not clear cut and cannot be in a continuous process). The results stage is a period of refreezing, in which new behaviors are tried out on the job and, if successful and reinforcing, become a part of the system s repertoire of problem solving behavior.Action research is problem centered, client centered, and action oriented. It involves the client system in a diagnostic, active learning, problem finding, and problem solving process. Data are not simply returned in the form of a written report but ... Examples Of EvilIn Othello Pure evil is like a cancerous plague that harms all those who come upon it. In the tragic play Othello by William Shakespeare, Iago is a character that represents pure evil a malignant cancer to all those around him. His evil is exposed through his choice of words, his ability to manipulate people, and his opportunistic ways. First, Iago s evil is shown through his choice of words that demonstrate his vulgarity and his sinister intentions. Iago s language is extremely base and forward; he does show any remorse or sympathy in any situation. For example, Desdemona has recently married Othello; when Desdemona s father, Brabantio, hears the news he becomes enraged. To make the situation much worse, Iago says to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of his evil imagery is when he says, It is engendered. Hell and night/Must bring this monstrous birth to the worlds light. (Act 1, sc.iii, lines 396 397). His voracity is seen in this quote; he calls upon hell and night to give birth to his evil plan. The way he uses the word, hell and night, associate him with evil which derives from the word devil. Another example that proves Iago s evil imagery is when he says, Divinity of hell!/When devils will the blackest sins put on. (Act 2,sc.iii, lines 340 341). In this quote, Iago, once again calls upon hell but this time describes it as divine. Iago s sinister thoughts are of evil essence because he calls upon the blackest of sins to aid him in his evil quest. Thus, Iago s choice of words prove his sinister intentions; which also include his ability to manipulate people. Iago s evil is also demonstrated by his ability to manipulate people and situations through his words and through his actions. The first victim to fall under Iago s manipulative spell is the half witted Roderigo. Iago recognizes that Roderigo is consumed by lust for Desdemona and would go to the extremes to make her his own. Iago convinces Roderigo that the only way to win Desdemona s heart is to give her money; ...Put money in thy purse... (Act 1, sc. iii, line 339). However, Iago is able to manipulate Roderigo s infatuation and make himself a profit by taking the money intended for Desdemona and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Homeland Security AndBorder Security The concept of border security in the U.S. shares a complex and ever changing relationship with global economics, international crime, and terrorism. In this context border security includes the protection of not only land borders, but also sea and air ports of entry. The relationship between federal, state and local authorities makes for a unique operation that must be ever changing and evolving to meet new and different threats. This massive undertaking falls directly under the Department of Homeland Security. Their mission calls on the agency to prevent the illegal flow of people and goods across U.S. air, land, and sea borders while expediting the safe flow of lawful travel and commerce; ensure security and resilience of global movement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clearly there have been no successful airline hijackings that resulted like 9/11 and that being the new standard of achievement we are doing quite well. What we must focus on is the prevention of something larger and possibly even more difficult, several coordinated small scale attacks. Unfortunately there is no one size fits all plan that will work for land, sea and air borders. Each, as outlined previously, pose unique and difficult challenges. One of the most pressing issues to border security is illegal immigration. Not only is it a drain on the economy through entitlement programs but is a security concern because we just don t know who is coming across the border. As a country one solution is to cut off the incentive to illegally enter the country. Just the fact that you are very unlikely to be caught much less deported for entering illegally is reason enough to sneak across the border. Throw in the free medical, food stamps, housing assistance, and education along with the Holy Grail of potential amnesty leading to citizenship and it only makes sense that someone struggling in Latin American would do anything to get in. What we must work on is a working system for legal immigration not the system of limited work visas, exile requests and family reunification requests that we are working with now. Florence Nightingale, JosephLister, And Edward Jenner How did medical professionals have the knowledge and professionalism necessary to do their jobs? Three individuals improved how medicine is practiced and the precautions to take. Hippocrates once said, It s far more important to know the person the disease has than what disease the person has. The three pioneers of the medical field Florence Nightingale, Joseph Lister, and Edward Jenner changed the way medicine is practiced today. Firstly, Florence Nightingale was born in Florence, Italy on the 12th of May in 1820. She had a very wealthy family. When Florence was sixteen years old on February 7, 1837, she heard the voice of God calling her to carry out some special work. As she had the want to help people, she was lead to believe that God wanted her to be a nurse. Being a nurse was unusual for the upper class because nurses were known to come from poor families. The want of becoming a nurse never went away so she went to Kaiserwerth to nurse training (James). In addition, Florence actually lead a team of 38 nurses to staff an overseas hospital of the British army during the Crimean War. It was reported that there were unsanitary conditions that got the public concerned, so the secretary requested for a team of nurses to provide help. When Florence and her team arrived, conditions were extremely worse than reported. The wards were covered in sewage and patients were scattered everywhere. Abortion And TheIssue Of Abortion The important ways of looking at the issue of abortion are most easily categorized into five major points, legal precedence, birth control issues, human rights, religion and when life begins. Based on both empirical and moral claims, a wide spectrum of views supporting either more or less legal restriction on abortions has emerged in America. While advocacy groups define the issue through its constitutionality and its moral views represented by their constituents, politicians define the issue by party lines, generally with liberals as pro choice and conservatives as pro life. The media defines the issue morally, presenting to the nation the views of various pro life and pro choice organizations with little empirical evidence from both sides. The various positions that can be taken on this issue can be divided by empirical and moral assumptions to more clearly analyze the particulars of this heated topic. However, the issue focuses in on the basic question; should there be more or less laws governing abortion? Before delving deeper into the history or current debates over an issue like abortion, it is important to look simply at the fact of its existence in the United States. According to studies released in 2005 by the Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health (PRCH) and The Guttmacher Institute, there were 1.29 million abortions performed in this country. Research by the same group shows that in 1994, approximately half of all pregnancies in the United States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Room OfOne s Own And Terry Eagleton Analysis There are many different theories you can look for when reading literature. You have five of Terry Eagleton s theories which are reader s response, feminism, psychological view, and historical, and formalism. There is Nietzsche s theory where he believes everything is a metaphor, everything can be interpreted differently by the reader. Emerson s theory is transidlism and existentialism. Transidlism is when someone will accept that there are miracles in the world. Existentialism is when someone doesn t believe there are miracles. The last theory is the chaos theory where everything is connected to everything, one thing sets off a chain reaction, and the whole world is affected by it. You can see these different theories in Virginia Woolf s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally you notice Emerson s theory of transidlism which is someone who believes in miracles. Woolf believes that there can be miracles for women. Commentary The article discussesthe environmental issues that Australia faces as a result of numerous companies emitting greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. Thanks to that, a negative externality occurs because the production of goods and services in Australia has a major effect upon a third party. For example, a company is set up next to a residential area; this will have a negative effect on the residents living in that region. For this reason the Australian government is deciding whether to impose taxes on carbon emissions for the worst polluters Figure 1 shows that the marginal private costs of the Australian firms are below the marginal social costs, the pollution created has caused an extra cost to the society, such as respiratory ... Although taxes are seen as a way of making polluters pay, there are some problems with this solution. First, the Australian government will find it very difficult to measure accurately the pollution created by firms and give a value to it, in which it can be regained by tax. Second, it is also very hard to identify which firms are polluting and to what extent are they responsible for the pollution. Third, it is often argued that tax do not actually stop the pollution from taking place. Furthermore, putting taxes on those firms will lead to inflation because they have higher costs to pay for, and to compensate for that, they will increase consumer prices. The shortage in domestic investment could lead to the closure of many firms or movement abroad and that will doubtless cause unemployment in Australia. Furthermore, while Australia imposes this tax to help alleviate a global concern, it doesn t necessarily mean its competitors will and the extra production costs for Australian firms will give it an unfair disadvantage. Stephen Dunn sPoem Sweetness After reading the Elements of Poetry and the six poems it becomes clear that there are signs of the fourteen elements within the six poems. The Element of Poetry is what has helped me understand the fourteen elements within poetry. The first and most important method of analyzing a poem is look at the way the poem stanzas are structured, which are the series of lines within a poem. For example a poem with two lines per stanza is known as a couplet, where a poem with eight lines per stanza is known as an octave. The structure is what helps sets up the overall organization of the lines and the patterns of sound within a poem. Take Stephen Dunn poem Sweetness for example, his poem is made up of ten stanzas and within each of the stanzas there is three line making his poem s structure a tercert. Christopher Columbus ResearchPapers Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer and navigator. He was born in 1451 in Genoa, Italy. His first voyage was to the Atlantic Ocean in 1476, where he almost died. He participated in several other expeditions to Africa. In 1492, he left Spain on the Santa Maria with The Pinta and The Nina beside him. He was the son of a weaver and went to sea as a teenager. When sailing the Atlantic Ocean, his ship burned and he had to swim to Portugal, where he eventually married Felipa Perestrelo. They had one son in 1480 and his name was Diego. His wife died soon after Diego was born and Columbus moved to Spain. He had a second son, Fernando, who was born out of wedlock in 1488 with Beatriz Enriquez de Arana. Muslim domination of the trade routes through the Middle East makes travel to India and China more difficult. Columbus estimated the Erath to be a sphere. Annotation This is a review of an article which discusses the different techniques of hiring the right, mainly in this case, senior executives. This article aims to provide leaders with guidance on how to add value to the hiring process by improving their recruiting diagnostics. The article focuses on a concept which is referred to as fit and unpacks. This concept breaks down into sub categories which are, fit with the job, fit with the leader, fit with the team, and fit with the organization. Instead of the traditional approach of recruiting and assessing candidates based on the current needs of the organization, this concept also addresses the current and emerging talent requirements. If leaders follow the techniques discussed in the article, they can avoid many expensive consequences of hiring unfit candidates. The article discusses three fronts on which being fit is composed of. One of the fronts is being fit for the job. The list of candidates will of course be able to meet the technical demands of the job as well as have the skills, experience, and be on the right career path but these are expected credentials. The leader must be able to look past these credentials and focus on the depth of the candidate s experience. A good way to do this would be to focus on the extent to which they have demonstrated the qualities they talk about in their past work activities. Focusing on just what the candidate says they have done and the qualities they have can distract a leader from what is really important such as the quality and performance of their previous work. Another topic discussed which I agree with is whether the candidate is entrepreneurial or is more comfortable improving something which already exist. The leader must decide what they are looking for. If I am looking for someone to come in a break up the current system then someone with more entrepreneurial traits would be the right candidate. If I was looking for someone who could improve the current system, then I would look for the candidate who has past experience doing so. The article refers to asking ... The Effect OfKermadec Arc Volcanic System Between... Recommended area for further investigation and why Samples were dredged and analysed from four sites along the Kermadec Arc volcanic system between Macauley Island in the North to Rumble II West in the South. As a result of chemical of analyses of the rocks, the two sites recommended for further investigation are in the southern part of the arc where the Brothers (site 3) and Rumble II West (site 4) volcanoes are located. Both these volcanoes have large calderas which are associated with hydrothermal activity, and Brothers Volcano has erupted silicic rocks which are also associated with hydrothermal activity (Nichols, 2009 p271). Hydrothermal activity and the sulphur rich fluids generated can be a source of sulphide minerals for lead, zinc and copper. Rock types found at Brothers Volcano were analysed as dacite and rhyolite, both of which erupt from silicic magmas. The graphs of major and minor elements for site 3 showed distinctly different values compared to the other samples, indicating a different magma chemistry at this site. The plot of the minor trace elements showed high barium levels. Barite is the most common sulphate material associated with barium and is also commonly sourced in hydrothermal processes along with lead, zinc and copper. Theme Of InsanityIn Gothic Literature Insanity Gothic literature can be composed of several themes depending on the purpose the writers intend to convey. William Faulkner, Edgar Allen Poe, and Richard Matheson are virtuosos within the realm of gothic literature. They have perfected the ability to blend fiction and horror through the use of certain gothic elements. Through their many works, such as A Rose for Emily, Prey, and The Black Cat, the authors implement numerous themes regarding violence and entrapment existing in both the metaphorical and literal state. The authors successfully apply these elements in order to illustrate their belief that loneliness and grief can motivate inhumane actions, further progressing the state of insanity. Upon uncovering that what was left of [Homer], rotted (Faulkner 1074) in her bed, they acknowledge Emily had poisoned Homer in an effort to relieve her loneliness; which, in return, cost Homer his life. Even though violence may not be the only element present in these short stories, it does reflect the length at which people are willing to go in order to acquire what they desire. Similarly to violence, entrapment is another overarching theme prevalent within these literary works. Throughout The Black Cat, the evil eclipses the good. The narrator becomes consumed with dread upon the murdering of his former best friend: Pluto. He begins to feel as though he is in a felon s cell (Poe 3) and there is no way out. Grupo Mondongo s medium choice is quite new and their collage is quite extraordinary, its basically a sculpture of small things that most people have likely seen, put together to make it look like a skull in a size of about 5 foot by 4 foot.
