Duties and Responsibilities
STORE SUPERVISION
The primaryresponsibilityof the retail supervisor is to coordinate activities of the assigned departmentfrom the time it
opens to closing time. Retail supervisors determine the priority of these activities on a daily basis and accordingly
schedule and assign tasks to retail assistants. They monitor the opening and closing of cash registers. They check
the store for cleanliness and ensure that the store display is neat and organized before the store opens. Retail
supervisors step in to manage store activities on occasions when the store manager is not available .
EMPLOYEE SUPERVISION
Retail supervisors supervise employees working in the store such as stock maintenance staff, cashiers, retail
salespersons, customer service representatives, and order fillers. They hold regular staff meetings to discuss any
issues the store staffmembers face in performing their jobs.They briefemployees about changes in routine or when
new offers or discount schemes are introduced. They provide new employees with guidelines and training in the
