This book tells the true story of a young Jewish girl named Luncia who lived in Poland in the 1930s with her parents, Isaac and Barbara, when Nazi Germany invaded. As the bombing began, Luncia, her parents, and the other residents of their apartment building took shelter in the basement. Another child, Ludush, became sick with scarlet fever and his mother risked going to the hospital with him. The story documents Luncia's experiences as a child living through the Holocaust in Poland.
